Members Matt P.
I've always wanted to see Sunset Beach on DVD. I know that someone from the UK had made custom DVDs and were selling them on eBay. I would love to watch the whole series, it seemed like such campy fun. Members sheilaforever
QUOTE (Chris B @ Nov 14 2007, 01:13 AM) A good place to start with DVDs, would be soaps with younger fan bases like DAYS and PSNS. I think if they did some sort of collection of the key episodes from Marlena's possession, it would FLY off the shelves. Even non-soap fans would get it, because like Dark Shadows it would have the supernatural elements. Very well put: just remember which shows were the first to be released on VHS and later DVD? Star Trek, X-Files and pretty early Buffy as well. All Sci-Fi/cult-related... And the rest followed. My hopes are with BluRay where an entire soap season could get saved on 10+ DVDs or so. I also think B&B would be a great start. It's only 30 minutes and needs much less space... Of course THE best way to start would be to do best of DVDs of all soaps which everyhwere in the world (e.g. UK and Germany) are released unlike the motherland of soaps. Yet the newtork execs cry about shrinking ad incomes and such stuff. MORONS!
Members StephanieLover17
if one tree hill can put out a dvd box set, why can't days do it with one of hogan's storys. I bet its very possible because he writes really fast lol. OTH usually has 6-7 discs in a set, i bet soaps can do the same too. One tree hill season 4 comes out on dvd on dec 18 and it will have 7 discs. i cant wait because i am getting it and relive the peyton/derek stalker story
Members Mondo
As a matter of facts, here in Belgium, B&B went out in Dvd. We did get a box of 5 dvd's with the best of the 20 years of the show. It was only sell through a magazine. It was almost an episode by year of storyline. 4 episodes a dvd with extra bonus. I really do think soaps magazines in the US should do the same. Offering dvd with issues will be a very good way to promote the genre.
Members heatherwebber
Not the least problem is many episodes don't exist anymore for a lot of the longer running shows. The older shows. Some ran live and were never saved. Others, they destroyed the tapes for most episodes. ABC did a notorious warehouse cleaning and got rid of most of AMC and other stuff at some point
