Toups is gonna hate me for this, but....

JER doesn't do character development, he keeps all of his characters the same and they never learn and grow from all the traumas of their lives. That was the biggest problem with JER's Marlena, so much would happen to her, but she was always stagnant and nothing seemed to affect her in the long run.

The first one just isn't enough for this genre's writers.

Jason is one character who I truly hate in daytime. Why do I want to see his twin? TC has some good qualities but he is very green. Some of his ideas are off the wall.

Yeah, because Barbara was the only real vet driving any story during Hogan's ATWT. <_<

True....but it was good choice.

If they really care about daytime why not do something. He is a writer of daytime. He can do something about it!!

Honestly, people who are only an Associate Head Writer, Script Writer, Script Editor or whatever can't do a thing. If they speak up, they get fired. They can only make what they are given magical, which is something Tom more than does.

Lots of people surely give a [!@#$%^&*], but will they ever get a chance to work in an industry that has its players decided upon for the forseeable future? If you're not in a union, how do you get the chance to start? I don't see the difference in sending pleasant letters or mac & cheese either. TPTB don't respond to ANYTHING except their own agenda. I should find Casiello's blog and write to him directly.

That was awesome!

*pauses*....."I don't know."

Oh yeah, that was a writer's creativity at work alright! Are we sure he didn't work for Latham recently?

On the subject of Jake & Paulina vs. Ejami is that Jake and Paulina didn't have a Lumi type pairing going. That is why they caught on and why Ejami is a tough sell. Jake and Paulina didn't have an enormous amount of fans who invested years into wanting to see them happy with someone else. Paulina was getting out of a relationship that was going nowhere with Grant and a DOA flirtation with Kevin Anderson while Jake had no romantic possibilities at all since he raped Marley and was pretty much the town pariah. No character was getting screwed by Jake & Paulina nor was history being pissed on.

I HATE YOU!!!

:D

Trust me, man, I know what JER's strength and weaknesses are.

Here's my caveat. Casiello never spoke about why soaps are being killed by crappy writing. I don't just mean the failure to tie newbies to existing families, either. If we can't ask a writer, who can we ask? There's a dangerous trend that will soon make our favorite characters or stories irrelevant, because there won't be shows to watch them on. When someone who actually writes the scripts is in our midst, I just can't think about why so-and-so hooked up with that guy six months ago, etc.

A RETIRED writer. or a writer who's out of the industry. ;)

Why would he talk about how soaps "are being killed" by his fellow colleagues/friends and his past/future bosses?
