Once upon a time certain GL writers took a character namd Annie, made her crazy and low and behold, GL had a fabulous 1997. Now here we are, exactly 10 years later with the same writers, another soap and a previously Steppfordish Annie suddenly coming unhinged. Coincidence? Or commnt on the unoriginality of soap writers? Will Erica son discover that she is the princess of an island nation???

LOL! Only GL's Annie was a much more interesting character, I still don't care for AMC's Annie. I mean she's a relatively new character, so I already have something against them for exploring her back history. So much more stuff could be done with her potential air time, like giving it to already established characters!

Melissa is a doll, but face it, she's no Watros!

Though you did bring up something interesting, B&E's first year on GL started and ended with a BANG. However, so far, their AMC stint started off good, but they haven't really delivered anything. In fact, I'd go as far as to say, AMC is extremely boring at the moment, and it feels as if that if you were to stop watching for a week, you'd miss nothing! Whereas their first year on GL was can't miss television, where there was a cliffhanger at the end of every episode. 1997 was a dynamic year for GL, though heavily Annie/Josh/Reva-centric, was actually entertaining, though campy. It started off with Annie's staged fall at the Spaulding party, Reva's trial for the crime in the middle of the year, and ended with Annie being accused for burning down Reva's house.

1997 was B&E's only good year at GL, but as many have pointed out, that was probably due to the transitional writers setting the stage up for them to follow.

Damn, I miss my Annie Dutton (In Cynthia Watros form ONLY). :(

WOw. I remember Annie's fall. After an abysal 96 GL that was th moment where it became good again. Actually I liked B&E all the way until about the middle of the San Cristobal story. After that it was just nonsense until about Mille Taggert's stint. Also, I don't really remember GL Annie being THAT interestng those first few years. Wasn't until the drug story and THEN all the stuff that happened in 97 was genious. MAybe AMC's Annie will get it together. The story isn't AS weofully uninteresting as everything else on AMC (that's a compliment for AMC these days).

No I don't think that they'll go there. We've known since Annie came on last year that she didn't like talking about her past, as it was a painful subject for her (as witnesses on her face when she claimed she had a "perfect" childhood). I think this backstory is good for her, as it makes her a little interesting. Annie was a blank slate, a boring blank slate.

    • We have 10000000 channels but broadcast channels still find a reason to preempt shows. Its should be an option either you want to watch breaking news or the scheduled programming.
    • I agree with this. The fail is trying to make Joss some kind of heroine.
    •  That's my station station too. Yep, just turned the TV on and Pope is on. Welp.
    • Yeah I saw it and it's still idiotic. I like the Pope, but it's not interrupt shows newsworthy
    • As someone who was watching OLTL at the time, Dano did excellent work, but the writing was weird. Dano even got Emmy nominated for what she did. However, it did feel that the writers did not know what to do with her, but to be fair, it did feel like a lot of that was that the character was a network mandate and the writers were making it up as they were going on. I didn't watch Dano's trek around all the soaps. That kind of thing would have worked better with an ABC performer not someone who had been off OLTL for decades. I can't imagine AW without Felicia Gallant. I really don't want to because she provided so much joy for me when there was so much disappointment on that show. The only time I thought her character didn't work was the John/Felicia storyline but it got Anna Holbrook an Emmy so I can't complain all that much. It's just another example of drama at the expense of character.
    • Bringing this over from the soccer/soaps ratings thread yesterday:  Errol said: "CBS put out a notice that it could preempt at a moment's notice as the Pope selection continues, dependent on how long it takes, of course." New pope just chosen, name to be announced soon. Yeah CBS-NewYork channel 2 is airing Pope coverage instead of Y&R right now.
    • @brisbydog - I like that you have a signature font, très chic Abe and Paulina's new apartment was the first thing I noticed.  I don't understand why people over a certain age in Salem automatically move into a condo? When it seems just as simple to make the set seem like a detached home.  But, I will give points to attention to detail of choosing colors that compliment the Black actors in the scene. Which then led to the second thing I noticed.  Why would EJ want Kayla's office, when his is 3xs the size?  Also, even if he buys the hospital, won't Kayla get to keep her office? Lastly, can we at least give Cat the agency to decide on her own with whom she wishes to date?  Do men actually need to negotiate on her behalf?  She's stunning.  My advice would be if Chad is friend-zoning her after a year together, move on to his richer brother.
    • OH!!! I love it. I can't believe I missed that. In one of the 2 fan events held the 2 years after the sorry end of our lovely show, both  Anna Stuart & Stephen Schnetzer attended & I got to talk to each of them. Obviously I was in heaven. Although at least I didn't do my shy star struck thing.
    • We probably won't get any of our CBS soaps today cause of the Pope stuff, cause you know they have to air it on regular network despite having 24/7 news channels
