Taking Charge of A Soap

I understand ;).

I'm very sour about having the same EP and HW...LML has really turned me against the idea.

And John F. Smith didn't do that for you? If so, why not? He made Y&R stale in 2005 & LML re-energized the show in 2006. She rocked the show from January to November 2006. And she loves Victor, Sharon, Jack & Drucilla, always good, no?

What's Smith been doing since leaving ABC Daytime? Has he retired?

If you're dissatisfied with a soap, take charge and make changes you think will bring it back to satisfaction.

I wasn't referring to my understanding of the topic. Many responses were reduced to lists of ideal personnel...

No, she didn't.

Well I was coming from the whole theory that if you have the ideal personnel, then the show will run itself and I wouldn't need to micromanage. If you have a good writing team that's able to write for a good and interesting cast of characters, then you're off and running.

Don't even bother giving into that, it's obvious that Latham has her apologists, for whatever reason.

She rocked so much that the show became unrecognizable...

And what exactly does that mean? What's giving into that? I'm not a LML apologist. I'm a LML realist (for obvious reasons ). I don't want LML (or her new hires for that matter) to die or burn in Hell. I don't pray for those things.

I can't think of examples where it EVER really worked--a soap opera just seems to need different people teamed up to blanace the elements. I suppose on some 30 minute soaps like AGnes Nixon on AMC for much fot he early 70s, etc--but even there she usually ahd peopel with her

I think Y&R was on fire 2004 to about early summer 07( it's starting to slip some what)

I'd make sure that every show had a Story Consultant, Creative Consultant, Story Editor, Script Editor, at least five BDW & SW, and two head writers. Too many cooks in the kitchen? Seven writers for a 200+ episode per year show is too few.
