DAYS: Actors with Contracts Set to Expire in 2007

I watched Hogan's ATWT too and I don't see why people bash him for not using the vets. The ATWT/Days comparison needs to stop. Different shows, folks.

Something else I want to mention...I don't think people realize they are basically asking for people like JER, Langan, etc back. That is the style some are asking for when they say "Hogan should know where he is going with a character" or "we don't have time to waste on character development" and the like. There is time. The characters were butchered. The show was butchered when Hogan came on. It takes one man more then 8-9 months to erase over a decade of crap. A character like Philip should be slowly transformed and he is going through a transition period that has been hindered by interference and story changing gears. It's unfair to say it should've happened by now based on that scroe. You don't want to rush something like that either or you will destroy a character completely.

People are just being impatient and have been since Hogan started. The guy has been bitched about left and right (mostly elsewhere but here at times too) since he started except for a few weeks in December and January. I think people are letting the show's future ruin their enjoyment. Pretend that there isn't a cancellation cloud hanging over and just sit back and enjoy. Don't overanalyze because, if we don't have the show much longer, do you want to remember your last few years with it nitpicking and complaining about everything? To each their own. I just felt like saying this.

I also hate how so many Days threads turns into a war of words or a Hogan bash thread or JER vs Hogan or whatever. Let's sit back and watch the changes take shape before going nuts. Also, this thread is getting heated and I am going to advise that things get toned down a bit and that we don't stray from the topic at hand. Thanks.

Just that. It was mentioned that Hogan didn't write for the vets at ATWT, and Drew says that he did... even if they were just props. That's the point.

Don't ask anymore questions. I think we're about to get stoned, LoL

Drew...I was just saying because of stuff that other posters have done in the past. Is all I was saying. However, if you don't know anything about Eileen don't say she went out there bitching about lack of story! Erika Slezak recently done the same thing with Dena...

That's all I'm saying.

...but what's your point?

I kid, I kid!

Meanwhile, I must ask... HOW OFTEN DID HE WRITE FOR THEM? If I were a headwriter, I could write a veteran into one episode per year -- that doesn't mean I actually 'wrote for them' in terms of 'using them often.' I'm pretty sure that the argument isn't that Hogan never used the veterans in a single episode, but that he didn't use them often... sort of like Days right now with Deidre/Drake.

I do know the story. I've read about it. I've heard people talk about it. I know the story. I already summed it up in abotu 2 sentences a couple of posts above. I won't do it again. So yes, I will say something it. Thanks.

DUSTY! This is not a personal matter bewteen you and I. This is a discussion right now and personal feelings should be left aside. I'm not attacking you. I'm not chastising you, or I don't mean to. I'm just saying that your simple question has been answered 5 times now. :)

Excuse after excuse after excuse.

I'm one of the biggest Days fans on the internet! Believe me, I don't want to see it fail, nor do I take any enjoyment in NOT enjoying the show. The fact is, Days is ALWAYS in a 'transitional phase' of some sort. That's no excuse for poor writing. The show has been in a creative shambles for 95% of the last eight years, and I'm finally fed up with the excuses and the reasons and the explanations. I'm done buying the reasons. I've bought 'em before, and now I'm flat broke.

It's been five months, and Phillip has been a prop since the day he returned. Prop, prop, prop. Five months is LONG ENOUGH -- transition or no -- to DO SOMETHING INTERESTING with the character.

I was watching ATWT off and on throughout Hogan's reign there. I wasn't a fan of the show, nor did I know any of the character like I do now. However, I was sick of Passions and started looking for something new at 2. I would watch ATWT. I remember watching the Margo/Reese affair. I recall Jessica being involved in that stoyrline along with Tom. Again, another vet. I remember crazy Barbara. I remember Hal getting material. Didn't Benjamin Henderickson win his Emmy during Hogan's writing? I know Martha Byrne did. Lily's a vet. Craig was a vet as well and he was written for A LOT. Sure, Hunt Block may not have been a veteran actor, but the character was. That's all that matters.

I'm not saying that the storylines were good (like I've said several times) or that the storylines lasted 3 years. I'm saying that they were written for.

Okay. That's it.

Drew, I know you weren't attacking me. I was only teasing. Geez!

But when you add exclamation points and bold print letters and make it appear to other posters like you're referring to that poster as a blooming idiot, then it turns out that most people interpret it all as just that.

The fact is this.

Hogan's tenure at ATWT was great his first one year, maybe two. Then, he fell apart. Got repetitive.

He wrote Susan as having a relationship with a new mystery man. Turns out that the man was Dr. Decker, the Angel of Mercy or Death or whatever at Memorial. A mystery that Alison (Hogan's fave) and her friends were ready to solve. It out her in danger. Susan sat in the shadows. "Poor me :("

Kim/Bob: a prop for the mystery at the hospital.

Barbara: His favorite. He always wrote for her, but most of the time she was meddling in her childrens' lives.

Lisa/Emma: Rarely ever seen.

Nancy: Maybe ten episodes a year.

The fact of the matter is: Hogan is doing just the same thing with the vets at DAYS. Overlooking them. It is because of that simple fact that most are beginning to fear for the survivalhood of some of the veteran cast members' contracts.

And to add. Lily/Holden were in the middle of a hot/cold spell.

Tom/Margo were just fed some slop on a nearby platter. "Hmmm...what's this? Infidelity. Here ya go, Tomargo!"

Craig is not a veteran actor compared to some of the other characters on the show. And plus, Hogan's writing for Craig totally re-characterized Craig as a character.
