Passions Best and Worst 2006

Featured Replies

  • Member

Hey guys! This is my Best and Worst list of 2006...now I realize there are still three more weeks in the year in which we could receive serious payoffs, so it may be too early for this list. If that happens, I'll revise the list. But until then, here's mine. Feel free to tear it apart and post your own!

1)

Best Female Character - Theresa

Theresa manages to make it through the most difficult times, from her loveless and violent marriage to Alistair, and her never-ending quest to get Ethan back. But Theresa has managed to pull herself up from these terrible setbacks to become the most powerful woman in the world, and find love with Jared. Theresa never gives up. Her eternal optimism is admirable.

Runner-Up: Tabitha

Worst Female Character - Jessica

Jessica Bennett is a crackwhore! This serial-killing, drug-addicted idiotic hooker is the show's worst character PERIOD. How anyone can find this piece of trash entertaining is beyond me. Kill her off and further the plot.

2)

Best Male Character - Julian

Julian's return to form has been brilliant, and this time, he has no one to blame for losing Eve but himself. Julian's desperation at losing the love of his life has brought back his bad side, but there is still a glimmer of hope in the form of his love for Endora.

Runner-Up: Noah

Worst Male Character - Chris

Seriously, this guy is the worst. He serves no point other than to stand in as a substitute Luis. His lack of personality does not help either. Time to say goodbye to Chris in the new year, I think.

3)

Best Return - Beth

After almost a year-long absence, Passions' best villainess made her triumphant return! Now living it up in Europe as a stylish Crane heiress, Beth got right into the thick of things and showed her true Crane colours to try to get Luis back. Her scenes with Fancy were some of the best of the year. Beth is truly Passions' most entertaining character, and needs to return ASAP!

Worst Return - Grace

Two excrutiating years later, Grace finally returned to our screens after Ivy's evil secret was revealed, but all her interactions with the characters were ON THE PHONE! Serious showdowns with Ivy, Kay, and Eve were mediated through the telephone. Poor Dana Sparks was forced to act out her scenes all alone without any interaction with the other actors. Here's hoping we haven't seen the last of Grace, and she returns to Harmony to kick some major ass!

4)

Best Male Recast - Mark Cameron Wystrch, Fox

Mark has added a new dimension to the Fox character. After starting out slow, he got comfortable with the role and made Fox his own. Fox's love for Kay is easily apparent, and it's so hard not to root for him. Justin Hartley's shoes were hard to fill, but Mark did it!

Worst Male Recast - Adrian Bellani, Miguel

Stepping in for the popular Jesse Metcalfe is a difficult task, and one Adrian has yet to pull off. This Miguel is a total dork. It's understandable why he'd want Kay (he can't be with Charity, so he'll settle for second best), but that's no excuse for poor, lame acting. I used to love Miguel, but Adrian has trashed the role. Hopefully his chemistry with Kristina Sisco's Charity will make up for it in 2007.

5)

Best Female Recast: Kam Heskin, Sheridan

After months of watching a boring and tired Sheridan, Kam debuted in the summer months and brought a much-needed enthusiasm to the role. Sure, her acting was kind of cheesy, but whose isn't on Passions? It was nice to see Sheridan with some energy for once.

Worst Female Recast: Kristina Sisco, Charity

Unfortunately, Kristina lacks the sweet innocence of Molly Stanton's Charity. I just don't believe that this is the good girl who's meant to save the world from all evil. Hopefully she'll grow into the role more. We haven't really seen her as the real Charity, so perhaps it's too soon to judge.

6)

Best New Couple - Theresa and Jared

Finally, a man who wants Theresa and not the other way around! 6 years later, it's about time someone started chasing Theresa. Jared and Theresa are awfully cute together, although they suffer from the fact that eventually Theresa and Ethan will reunite, and Jared is mostly a plot device to make Ethan jealous.

Worst New Couple - Fancy and Luis

So bland, so blah! I don't see the chemistry, and I just don't buy Luis with any woman other than his soulmate, Sheridan. Not too mention "Lancy" lack the hot "Foah" chemistry found between Emily Harper and Dylan Fergus. Here's hoping this relationship is short-lived.

7)

Best Friends - Paloma/Simone/Jessica

I really feel their love for each other, and it was showcased throughout the year in Rome and then back in Harmony, most recently at Thanksgiving.

Worst Friends - Eve and Grace

Some friend you are, Eve! You helped maliciously destroy your best friend's marriage, and didn't even own up to it and try to save face after your miserable secrets came out! Here's hoping you lose your medical license.

8)

Best Exit - Martin

'Cause at least he got an exit.

Worst Exit - Tie: Siren, Liz, Rachel

I don't like hearing about exits after the fact. And no one even explained what happened to Rachel! Is she just living off-screen in Harmony? And the Alistair/Liz revelations lacked the fall-out and impact of seeing Liz's reactions.

9)

Best Death - The Dragon Lady

I loved her kung fu fight with Noah, and then seeing her get fried was hilarious! Runner-up is Maya. What a waste of airtime she was. Falling off the roof of the hotel was campy brilliance.

Worst Death - Phyllis

What the hell was the point of killing off such a minor recurring character? They wasted the chance to off someone good, like Spike, Jessica, or Chris.

10)

Best New Female Character: Siren

Siren, the sexpot mermaid, was fun to watch, and I was always rooting for her. Too bad she served no real purpose to the show.

Worst New Female Character: Maya

As I said above, a waste of airtime! As if anyone believed Noah would choose her over Fancy. Thank God they ended that mess.

11)

Best New Male Character: JT

Hilarious, campy, well-acted, over-the-top. I love JT! He is classic Passions!

Worst New Male Character: Gianni

I really couldn't think of another new male character (other than Jared, but he's cool), so I went with lame-ass Gianni here.

12)

Best Revealed Secret - Ivy's Schemes

While there were some flaws (like the lack of Grace, David, and John being present), it seemed so natural for Kay's conscience to finally get the best of her and tell all. Sam's reaction was perfect when he shoved Ivy and threw the wedding dress at her. It's about time one of Passions' biggest b!tches got what was coming to her!

Worst Revealed Secret - Anything Theresa/Ethan Related

First, Ethan didn't believe JT when he said Gwen did it in Rome. Then JT told him Phyllis did it. Then Theresa talked her way out of admitting Little Ethan was Ethan's son. Enough with the teasing of the audience! Reveal these secrets and let Theresa and Ethan be happy, even if it's only for a month!

13)

Best Character Development - Sheridan Goes Crazy!

After months (no, years!) of watching a boring Sheridan, she finally realized what an idiot she has been and has snapped! I love the connection to the Crane curse, but I hope there's a deeper supernatural reaction. Ultimately, I want Shuis together, so I don't want Sheridan destroyed.

Worst Character Development - Chad's Cheating!

This came out of nowhere! And not only that, but it's been dragged out far too long! At least Val's played a large role in it. She's been on the show for two years and never really been part of a story. My opinions might change if we get inside Chad's head and understand his thinking, but that hasn't happened yet.

14)

Best Interactive Tie-In: Tabloid Truth

This website has been loaded to the top with tons of fun videos, pics, bonus features, etc. It's the most fun to play around with.

Worst Interactive Tie-In: Vendetta

As the only other tie-in of the year, it's the worst by default, although it was a huge improvement over Passions Red.

15)

Best Chemistry: - Rebecca and JT

They play off each other so well! I never get tired of their scenes. Michael Sabatino would've made an awesome Jonathan Hotchkiss.

Runner-Up: Tabitha and Endora

Worst Chemistry: - Fancy and Luis

They lack sizzle. I prefer Fancy and Noah, and for me, they don't do a thing.

16)

Best Male Eye-Candy: - TIE: Fox, Jared

Mmmm! is all I have to say!

Runner-Up: Ethan

Worst Male Eye-Candy: - Miguel

There's something terribly unsexy about him to me.

17)

Best Female Eye-Candy: TIE: Siren, Fancy

Two beautiful blonde bombshells.

Runner-Up: Kay

Worst Female Eye-Candy: - Theresa

Unfortunately, as Mrs. Alistair Crane, they've dressed her in some hideous outfits and given her terrible hairdos. My poor Theresa deserves better!

18)

Best Baby: - Endora

She's just cute and perfect! We all love her!

Worst Baby: - Maria

Unfortunately, compared to Endora, she's so blah!

19)

Best "Cheesy" Moment: - Norma and Edna perform at the lesbian bar

This was the most amazingly entertaining moment of the year. I loved the songs!! It was brilliant, and also showcased a positive, inclusive message!

Worst "Cheesy" Moment:- Charity and Miguel are imposters!

How annoying that, when it seems like we're finally getting a payoff, it turns out that we're just being teased?! Oh well, though...at least this preserved the integrity of the characters, particularly Charity.

20)

Best Storyline - Passions Vendetta

A wonderful blend of youth, sci fi, supernatural, camp, and payoffs galore! Sister Whitney, the monk, the chalice, the major secrets revealed, and the action all worked well and entertained me throughout the spring and early summer. I loved it.

Worst Storyline - Kay/Fox/Miguel/Siren

As much as I loved Siren and all the fun with Tabitha and Endora, I was thoroughly annoyed with the Kay and Miguel crap. And unfortunately, I'm still annoyed even though it's changed a bit by adding Charity to the mix.

How can you call Chad cheating as out of nowhere and condemn it, yet praise Sheridan for the same thing? Both are examples of bad character development.

No. With Sheridan it's a natural progression. There was months of build-up. With Chad it just happened overnight.

RionPassions, what a great idea!!! I really like reading your opinions :)

I agree with you there. I just wish Theresa was used a LITTLE less.

Worst Female Character - Jessica

Jessica Bennett is a crackwhore! This serial-killing, drug-addicted idiotic hooker is the show's worst character PERIOD. How anyone can find this piece of trash entertaining is beyond me. Kill her off and further the plot.

Right on!! I'm glad that this year Jessica's story wasn't really a main focus. I needed a break after her slutty-ness was shoved down our throats in 2005.

I agree with your choice for Julian. There has definately been some character development for him. I also found Alister very entertaining. Even if you hate him, you've got to admit that he makes things entertaining and stirs up trouble :) :). Noah, the runner up? I don't know about that. I really enjoy the character, but he was on the backburner for most of the year.

Worst Male Character - Chris

Seriously, this guy is the worst. He serves no point other than to stand in as a substitute Luis. His lack of personality does not help either. Time to say goodbye to Chris in the new year, I think.

AMEN!!! Ugh. He makes me sick. GET HIM OFF MY SCREEN!

Absolutely right. Beth is my favorite character on the show and I find it boring without her. I only watch everyday when she's on.

I know. Seriously, what was the point of the phone conversations?! Why not just have her show up in Harmony and be done with it?!

Since there weren't that many male recasts this year, I think that you're right. But just the character of Fox is kind of blah as far as I'm concerned, no matter who's playing him.

Adrian has made me hate Miguel. :(

I wasn't a big fan of Kam. I wish they'd just let the character leave town with McKenzie. Yeah, she was burned out, but she's been really good since she's been back. I absolutely love her!

Hmm...I haven't seen too much of her so I don't really have an opinion yet. I just HATE all the recasts!!

I really enjoy Theresa and Jared as a temporary thing, but I'm hoping it won't last.

THANK YOU!!!! Ugh, I hate them together. I want Foah and Luis and Sheridan!!

LOL I'd actually switch them around. Eve regrets what she did, and wishes she could take it back. I'm not condoning what she did, but I like her friendship with Grace. That being said, I DID enjoy Paloma, Simone, and Jessica in Rome.

8)

Best Exit - Martin

'Cause at least he got an exit.

lol yeah.

Siren, I was just happy to see her go. But for Liz and Rachel, what the HELL?! Could we PLEASE get them back?!

LOL Agreed for both.

I didn't like either one lol. Siren was interesting, but that actress made me cringe lol.

11)

Best New Male Character: JT

Hilarious, campy, well-acted, over-the-top. I love JT! He is classic Passions!

Worst New Male Character: Gianni

I really couldn't think of another new male character (other than Jared, but he's cool), so I went with lame-ass Gianni here.

LOL, JT is great!! I love him and Rebecca!

ITA!!! It's about time that this got revealed!

I've learned not to get my hopes up for ET anymore.

I love this storyline!!!! Westmore is just having so much fun with this story, I can tell. She's great at being bad!!

I actually like the mystery of the story, but it's time to SPEED things up. They make a big deal about it once a month. It's time for some action and a revelation of who is lover is!

I love both websites... It's great to have an interactive site for Passions!

15)

Best Chemistry: - Rebecca and JT

They play off each other so well! I never get tired of their scenes. Michael Sabatino would've made an awesome Jonathan Hotchkiss.

Runner-Up: Tabitha and Endora

Worst Chemistry: - Fancy and Luis

They lack sizzle. I prefer Fancy and Noah, and for me, they don't do a thing.

Exactly :)

16)

Best Male Eye-Candy: - TIE: Fox, Jared

Mmmm! is all I have to say!

Runner-Up: Ethan

Worst Male Eye-Candy: - Miguel

There's something terribly unsexy about him to me.

I have to go with Jared, Ethan, and Chad for BEST male eye candy. I'm surprised you picked Miguel for worst male eye candy when we have Martin, Julian, Alister, etc. to choose from lol.

17)

Best Female Eye-Candy: TIE: Siren, Fancy

Two beautiful blonde bombshells.

Runner-Up: Kay

Worst Female Eye-Candy: - Theresa

Unfortunately, as Mrs. Alistair Crane, they've dressed her in some hideous outfits and given her terrible hairdos. My poor Theresa deserves better!

I'd say worst female eye candy is Jessica.

18)

Best Baby: - Endora

She's just cute and perfect! We all love her!

Worst Baby: - Maria

Unfortunately, compared to Endora, she's so blah!

lol I love Endora!!

19)

Best "Cheesy" Moment: - Norma and Edna perform at the lesbian bar

This was the most amazingly entertaining moment of the year. I loved the songs!! It was brilliant, and also showcased a positive, inclusive message!

LOL!!! Norma and Edna are the best!!

Worst "Cheesy" Moment:- Charity and Miguel are imposters!

How annoying that, when it seems like we're finally getting a payoff, it turns out that we're just being teased?! Oh well, though...at least this preserved the integrity of the characters, particularly Charity.

I tend to FF through Charity and Miguel these days.

20)

Best Storyline - Passions Vendetta

A wonderful blend of youth, sci fi, supernatural, camp, and payoffs galore! Sister Whitney, the monk, the chalice, the major secrets revealed, and the action all worked well and entertained me throughout the spring and early summer. I loved it.

YES!!! This was the only time this year that I watched everyday.

I hate this whole group. They are just filler to me.

Love lots of your picks, Rion, but there are some nit-picks.

For instance,

Down Lucy? Down LUCY? And say they suck and say you like FOAH?!!! Sorry, I can't get on board with that. Lucy are the future. Noah and Fancy's chemistry does not even come close to the fireworks of Lucy. Lucy are the Way, the Truth and the Life. I mean, did you SEE this week's shows? They're BURN up my screen! I had to buy a new TV!! It's like watching PG-rated porn with those two. They're just SOOOOOOOOOOO hot. My God, did you see how Luis poured that bottle of shampagne down Fancy's throat in the tub? You KNOW what this hot couple alluded to by that. Luis clearly wanted to pour something else into Fancy's throat!!! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOT.

Oh, I digress. Back to the disagreements...

I disagree that Chris is a substitute for Luis. Because Luis is out-of-this-world sexy and exotic and, what's that expression? Oh, yeah. "Sex on a stick." Chris, on the other hand, is dull as dishwater.

I also disagree about identifying Jessica with the compound adjective, "serial-killing." As of this writing, there is no proof that she killed the johns. I think it's obvious that Chris framed her for each death.

Also, at the risk of sounding overdramatic, I think it's an outrage that you already wrote off Kristina Sisco. Bottom line? Her interpretation of the REAL Charity hasn't aired yet, if it's even been concieved by the writers. That said, I strongly feel that you should purge this from the list, ASAP. Sisco is literally ineligible to be judged, in the role of Charity, at this juncture.

  • Member

Definitely disagree with Lancy. I think they're great, and clearly both Emily and Galen are having fun together. I hope Foah and Shuis are dead for good because JER's got a goldmine with Lancy. Other than that, it's all gravy.

  • Member

If Passions were smart, they would bank their future on Jared/Theresa and Luis/Fancy. ET and Shuis are ruined and will need a miracle to ever be what they were.

Chad, Sheridan, Fox, Miguel, Kay, etc-definitely the year of character destruction that is for sure.

Miguel and Fox are some of the worst actors I have ever seen.

The best moments this year were the first two weeks of the year, June, July, and August. Other then that, the week of Ivy's reveal and the Theresa/Rebecca fight. The rest was crap.

The show dropped the bomb on the Theresa is queen of the Crane empire story. If she has so much power, why not get your baby back from Gwen? DUH!!! Bad writing there but I guess with JER there I shouldn't expect a payoff. Also, I am way past caring whether Shuis gets their baby back. I have never seen a story drag out so long. GIVE US A DAMN PAYOFF!!!

The show is a mess and it needs massice changes to survive. Many characters are in shambles and there is not one good story right now that is currently playing it to make anyone outside of diehard, obsessed fans to tune in. I love this show but the last straw for me was when they gave us two weeks of buildup to two separate ET reveals and didn't pull the trigger on either of them. That is a joke and shows no concern for the fans and what they want. Passions will have to do alot to get me back into the show again. Not even a good holiday season will be enough. The time is now to do something because this was the worst year ever for the show. At least the first half of 2005 was good despite the second half being crap.

PR u r so right. The show is a mess, a train reck.We never have payoff. PR i would be interested in reading a fan fic of passions from you? :D

If I had the time, I would write a fan fic for Passions but with the Days one I do I can't.

I have too much good stuff planned for my Days one. If I took over Passions though, there would be massive changes

Hahaha! You are hilarious.

Love lots of your picks, Rion, but there are some nit-picks.

For instance,

I disagree, WorldTurns. Can you honestly tell me you didn't see the champagne bottle as a phallic symbol? Why else would Luis pour it down her throat rather than pour her a glass. I think the sizzling champagne scene had very clear sexual overtones. It's no secret that photographers and TV producers implement sexual imagery such as the champagne scenes to heat up things without breaking certain codes and standards. Make no mistake: Luis had a VERY dirty mind when he poured that champagne down Fancy's throat. And the way that eager girl just GUZZLED it. Ha...what would have been hotter and funnier? Only if Luis poured it down her throat, then pulled it away, playfully, and then Fancy moved her mouth in toward the bottle and then he moved it away, and then when she gave up, he finally stuck it down her throat again. SO hot.
