Network Shows Online: New Trend

I've noticed that alot of networks now offer their shows online to view. I guess this is the new trend. ABC, CBS, NBC, and VH1 do this. I dont know if anyone else does it. I have to say I love this idea as it lets me watch more than I normally would have bc the shows compete with each other in primetime. I wonder if this is a good idea for them though bc I wonder if it affects ratings. I know once Ugly Betty debuted on ABC, I stopped watching Survivor on CBS and now exclusively watch it online. This gives people a reason not to watch on tv.

I've notice this... I know The-N puts up new episodes for a week on their site, because people would watch episodes online (most of the time before they were aired). I like watching some shows online, I have class on Thursdays and tape NBC's Earl/Office block... so I watch Ugly Betty online. It seems like a smart thing to do, because you can gain more audience from it.

I wish they would put up all of their shows on the net, and not just a select few. I was wanting to see house on fox and BL on abc, went to their websites and they don't have the episodes for either.
