I didn’t even know Jack appeared on B&B! Looking forward to that.

But you should take into account that there was no YouTube in 2001. Also, Nick and Sharon’s wedding was immediately a classic not because of time but because it was treated with reverence and seen as epic.

It's not that VR's battles have gotten old: it's that she pioneered the battles many people are fighting today.
I have to say, I really admire the woman. When she first called the show out, I believed her but not completely. I vividly remember her addressing the importance of having AA hairdressers who knew how to style a certain type of hair. That struck me, she definitely had a point.
At the same time, I also thought that involving an actor in the writing process could create a conflict of interest. I also remember very well PB's interview where he said "she doesn't play with a full deck of cards". I remember it because it was the very first time I heard the expression, I thought it sounded funny. I did think she must have been as eccentric as Drucilla and I tossed aside most of her complaints.
Well, growing up I realized over time she was completely right. 100%. Hell, let this woman even write the character if she wishes. I felt awful for not realizing sooner and I promised myself I would never toss aside anyone's complaints, especially coming from a minority.
I think it makes total sense that VR is calling out the show all the time and still she's campaigning to be brought back. I don't see the contradiction, at all. Drucilla is sorely needed. It's appalling what happened to her, to MM, Tyler, Leslie. It's not a coincidence. I'm really hoping VR and other black artists can ride the momentum.

Olivia employed a nurse/nanny for little Nate, and that character was named "Julia" (I don't know if the show gave her a last name?).
The actress playing Julia was Pamella D'Pella. She has a Y&R acting reel here:
She was good!
BTW I loved the little girl playing Lily.

Frank Beaty's post is sweet.
Has any of you guys actually seen TP in Ozark? Is it really worth it or is it... just another white guy displaying rage?

When they’ve shared scenes together the chemistry is pretty off the charts and it’s glaring because they will literally pair Brooke with *anybody*. Considering how he looks, the only reason a shallow show like B&B wouldn’t give him an actual story has to be due to his race. Especially when it comes to the Steffy pairing which fans have been asking for for YEARS.
Didn't Jacqueline McInnes support the pairing too at some point?

I don't understand one word of this tweet. Who's Nelle Benson? Why should this " Ira", whoever he is, care? People can produce shows for "high school tvs"?
I also wanted to say great post @Chris B

Jerry Douglas was 54 in 1986 and he didn't look like he needed any work at that time. I think he had some eye work sometime in the 1990s. Somehow I remember an episode with a line about John looking more refreshed.
His hairline was also receding in the early 90s. By the late 90s he came back with a perfect hairline, but I think it was a toupee.
Kinda shallow of me but I think Doug D also has worn a toupee for a long time.

I’m obsessed with Scarlett Johansson’s voice obviously, but I love a woman with a sexy, throaty rasp, and Juliet had that. In another era, she would have developed into a great villainess.
Oh me too! That's why I loved the first aged Heather Williams (she was around in 2008).

Her character was Juliet and she was played by Laur Allen
Cool!from IMDB:
She was the crown holder for Miss Los Angeles Chinatown and was the first mixed-ethnicity queen in the pageant's history. She then went on to represent Los Angeles in the Miss Chinese International pageant, where she made top 7 and won Miss Congeniality.
I am sorry these actors don’t get direction anymore. I liked her. Until I saw a picture of her in her living room and she had a rifle on the coffee table I think. LOL Thought it was weird.

This reminds me of when KMK subbed for VR as Drucilla in 2000.
Also- what about the girl Cane had a fling with on Y&R in 2017? I think she was introduced as an interpreter from his business trip in Hong Kong. I can’t remember her name - Julie, maybe. Was she mixed?
Of course she went crazy and was axed soon. But she had potential.

Re: LML’s Y&R: Ji Min, mentioned earlier, was quite groundbreaking in a way. An Asian man allowed to be sexy and powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with the Alphas of Genoa City. (Y&R certainly eroticized Philip Moon’s Keemo back in the mid-‘90s, but ultimately made him a pathetic joke with the whole Mary Jo Mason story.)
Good point on Ji Min!
Speaking of Keemo, here's how we meet him in his very first scene....:

Does anyone feel like growing up with soaps and SORASing has screwed up their ability to guess real people's ages? LOL I for one almost never get the age right.

I posted this in the DAYS classic thread the other day, but thought would do it here as well, if only for you guys to watch the first scene of this - a recently-turned-16yo Tracey Bregman in her first soap role as Donna Craig on DAYS. The talent shown here is amazing and goes to show she could certainly handle what would come her way 4 years later when she got her signature role on Y&R as Lauren. The contrast between the two characters couldn’t be more stark.
Did anyone save the episode?

I did not know about this but it's being discussed these days in the AW Forum:

Bear in mind: Paulina was always waspy blonde.

(I suppose they could have asked EB to speak his native German in the dubbing, but I don't think that's his voice?)
It would have been impossible logistically. First, not every actor can automatically dub himself or other actors (whereas a dubber/voice-actor can easily act in other mediums). Plus it requires time and patience to dub. It would not have been worth the effort

That’s another point. A lot of Latham’s characters got axed when she left, but it seems that characters of color are almost always “last hired, first fired” when regimes change. And given that soaps have traditionally had a lot of EP/HW turnover, it’s hard for those characters to build any viewer traction. And they are viewed as interchangeable even when they have very different personalities. Meanwhile, we’ve had dozens of interchangeable dead-eyed white brunettes hogging the screen on GH for 20 years.
You make a very valid point. I completely agree. Let me just add that I thought that Ji Min Kim could be the next Victor. How cool would that have been.

Y&R recently had a South Asian character, Ravi, but he was basically Raj from Big Bang Theory without the accent.
Should we mention Latham's Ji Min (I was crazy about him) and lawyer Rafe?

This was wild, Nathan had been on the show for 6 years at that point and was meeting John and Ashley for the first time. BB was a master at keeping the cast in their little pocket universes.
I thought BE's Ashley was friends with Olivia from the start though. And she had never met Nathan? At least mentioning she knew him via Olivia would have made sense.

That was great! Please, DD: more Instagram videos, fewer tweets!
So this is the first time I hear this: Paul's office was in Newman Towers? Was it in the same building that "Newman" is located at?! I could never understand this. Especially because the show rarely includes any exterior shot. Is Jabot in Newman Towers?? So weird. Also: what's the deal with Paul seeing Cassandra in a painting first? I'm like... okay... It's fascinating. But it's so not Y&R. I wonder what was BB's logical explanation for that.

I wish Alan would tape these and edit them like other people are doing. I hate to complain but I can't with the awkward silences and constant overlapping. I get secondhand embarrassment. Besides, he almost never reads the fans' questions anyway so there is no point in doing these Live.

I think there was a scene in the Abbott living room where Gloria and Jack had a huge fight, I think it was actually before John dying (he was already hospitalized though). The scene was so intense it had me tear up a bit. I used to have it back then, then I lost all my DVDs and I never managed to find the scene again on Youtube. Does it ring familiar to anyone?
Come to think of it, I'd love to see all those episodes again. It all began with John not being able to see from one eye. It was an eerie premise, I thought.

From my POV, Brad was just a hunk. Every story was seen from Ashley or Nikki’s perspective. He had no personality by the early 00s IMHO.
The only story they told from his perspective was his affair with Olivia. And no, that was not well received although I kinda liked it.
Brad’s previous marriage to Traci was conveniently glossed over all the time. Which is a shame. When Colleen came back it caused some conflict but never like “Oh I’m worried my sister and my husband may rekindle their feelings”.
