  1. I don't care what anyone thinks, today was the most fun I've had watching DAYS in YEARS.

  2. It's so funny to me how one show's success by doing something different has meant that every show must ape that show's style. It's been this way for years now, and it's a big part of what's killing soaps. GH is a hit, let's make all shows have OTT high-octane adventures and location shoots with bombs and guns! Y&R is a hit, let's make all our shows have incredibly dim lighting and sexy young people! DAYS is a hit, let's all make our storylines so unbelievable they border on self-parody! I get that this happens in primetime as well and all, but the lengths to which daytime has gone to make
  3. Marco Dapper as Alex Kiriakis on DAYS. He starts a torrid affair with Jennifer, making everyone forget about Dr. McHairychest. Make it happen, Corday and TomSell!

    1. Cheap21

You lost me when you suggested he be wasted on that twit

    2. YRBB

Now Marco Dapper and... Lauren Koslow? DAMN HOT!

  4. So wait...Stefano is about to do...what I think he's about to do...right??

  5. Been oddly obsessed with this all week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPTwcwA6vuk
  6. How you gonna tell me that DAYS deserves an emmy nom for "Best Lighting" when the only thing they do is turn them on at their brightest setting?

    1. Vee

It's the same kind of special award for dedication and perseverence that I got for any and all athletic activites at summer camp.

    2. marceline

Perhaps "best" stands for "consistently operating at the highest capacity."

    3. frequentsoapfan

Lights at their brightest setting is better then when everyone looked blue and purple tinted on that show!

  8. Other than on here, has anyone made any real effort to demand these episodes come out? I'm sure if there's a non-batshit crazy effort made to organize people to encourage these companies to get at least some of these classic shows out there, maybe then they'll recognize the potential. Maybe not. But then we at least can't say we haven't put in our best effort.
  9. Alright, let's do this. 26 character bios to write for my show. I can do this!

  10. Just had a major nerd-out moment. Found out that a new friend I've made at karaoke the last few weeks is actually Constance Ford's neice AND is good friends of DAYS' Meredith Scott Lynn. I nearly fell over. AHHH!

  11. So it rained...then it snowed....then it rained on the snow! I was unprepared, wore non-leather sneakers out, slipped and fell on my butt into the slush, and am now home, with a pair of dripping wet socks, and shoes, and a wet right buttcheek. *sigh*

I hope you feel better soon.

  12. My life is actually a sitcom. I mean, really. If you told someone the story of what happened to me this weekend, no one would believe you.

  13. I feel like I know the answer to this, but why do I feel a profound sadness every time I watch a Labine-era GH clip, even now that the show isn't half as bad as it was a few years ago?

    1. JackPeyton

Because while GH is entertaining again, it lacks heart & depth. Its very comical.

    2. DRW50

      Sometimes only intentionally comical...

GH became a success because of heart and community. I think those are probably gone for good, although with a better writer, that might change.

    3. beebs

At least the pieces are there again to make the show more of a community, more than they have been in years. I honestly didn't mind the heaviness of 90s GH. I think a lot of that is down to the writing, and the fact that the cast was generally amazing at that time.

  14. Watching John's 2007 "death" on DAYS just makes me angry. His coming back as RoboJohn after such an intense set of death scenes, it feels so cheap to have yet another "Stefano kidnapped and brainwashed him" story. I get why they did it, but dammit, death means squat on this show now, and John's un-death was probably the last nail in that coffin.

    1. JackPeyton

He was supposed to stay dead. Like, they really fired him. Thats the worst part! So close.

    2. Eric83

I wish he had stayed dead.

    3. Sindacco

The actual death and funeral was good but it was all so rushed. He was 5 months in a coma, then spent the summer reading letters and then killed off.

  15. Damned forum go crazy while I'm having a nap. And I miss all the fun AGAIN.

  16. Sometimes you just wanna smack someone across the face and remind 'em high school's over.

  17. When one realizes that AMC had Trevor call Michael a "f-----" in 1996, the reality that DAYS is playing things WAY too safe with their "gay boy" homophobia comments becomes incredibly glaring.

    1. AlexElizabeth

I remember Kevin calling Luke a f****t on ATWT in like 2006. DAYS' gay boy comment was silly. Who talks like that?

    2. beebs

Yep. There's a full episode, atch.

This is what I mean, the show's dialogue is usually fairly good in terms of how people talk, but the whole "gay boy" crap really makes my skin crawl.

    3. JackPeyton

fans would flip out. they already think nick is the devil as it is, lol.

  18. Got my chicken (not enough people for turkey), got my ingredients for Mac & Cheese, got my potatoes, got my stuffing. READY FOR XMAS COOKING.

  19. I think I'm still in denial re: DAYS' imminent doom, but after not looking at the screen more than once every 10 minutes on Tuesday's show, it's becoming less and less of a surprise.

  20. When did Tracy Quartermaine stop being hilariously dismissive and snarky, and become a grating, shreiking, humourless shrew? It's making me sad :(

    1. VirginiaHamilton

She's always been a grating, shrieking, humorless shrew of a character to me.

    2. applcin

      ^^What she said.

    3. dragonflies

Tracy's always been an unlikeable shrew IMO

  21. This and the earlier post from Dec 71 really help explain a lot of the major sweeping changes CBS made around this time that led to so many cancellations (SS, LMST, WTHI, etc.), it's striking how panicked CBS got by ABC and NBC's success, and I'm not sure that many of their decisions ended up being for the better in the long-run.
  22. Totally Brady/Kristen 'shipping. Oh this is gonna be gooooooood.

  23. Hahha, it's true. Some shots were so ill-lit the actors looked like disembodied heads floating around the screen. Utterly bizarre.
  24. I find it interesting that Harding Lemay wrote this. I also noted when I posted this on Facebook, that they had the whole dark, moody lighting thing down a good three years before Y&R (although I'm pretty sure it was to hide the cheap sets more than anything).
  25. Watching "The Outs" has made me want to dust off my old gay-themed series I was working on, but thought was "too boring". Time to reconsider
