  2. And totally wasted. They got rid of Phoebe's set when they built the one for Brooke. That's why Phoebe was always over during their scenes. RW said that's also why they put her in a wheelchair, necessitating her stay with Brooke, when really it was because she no longer had a house! They had Phoebe fall on the ice leaving Adam's, with frantic Marian testing if she was coherent, asking questions like, "Who's the president?", and exasperated Phoebe snapping, "Caligula!" She denied her need for the wheelchair, though it was obvious in a few scenes that she was a little unsteady on her feet. I remember one scene in particular where she lost her balance and grabbed onto John Callahan's arm as they continued the scene.

  4. Sit, UBU, sit... good dog!
  5. That beautiful picture of her reminds me of Jennifer Garner.
  6. BTW, I would *love* to know how Robin and BarBara got on
  7. I think Elaine played Dorian in broader strokes. Robin's Dorian was tickier and Robin made fabulous little idiosyncratic choices which sadly began to fade in the JFP years and certainly her last years on the show as she felt the need to overcompensate. Look at this scene with her and Maria. This is MY Dorian. Just look at the way she holds her body, her hands, her mouth. She is doing so much and it's all so effortless. Dorian became so OTT in recent years and all of this poised, detailed finesse was lost to shrill histrionics. BTW, Robin seems to be under the weather here.

  10. ^^Posts like the one I just made are why I'll never change my avatar. Get it Hucci-Lubers!
  11. I was just going to say, that's the LOTRAF theme, I didn't realize it had a life before. I love Bill Conti, his primetime soap contribution is legendary. I have one of those TV theme song CDs and this is on it, one of my favorite tracks. Triangle breakdown at 2:22 followed by whammy guitar!
  12. Did you know that Robin didn't like that Dorian ran the Intruder and encouraged them to change that? She thought Dorian, who wanted so badly to BE Viki, would never attach herself to something so smarmy as a tabloid.
  13. Jason reminds me of Jay from Jay and Silent Bob. Notice how differently they seemed to write for Dorian? Maybe it was just for the sake of this May/December material, but it really does seem like she was stripped a bit and put into the "generic 40-something diva" spot, not unlike Donna or Iris over at Another World in the '90s. Matter fact, Donna got her May/December s/l too. But there's something about the dialogue and characterization here that sort of belies the richness of the character. Dorian wasn't just rich and pretentious. But I'm so glad that Elaine got to usher in all of the Addie and Blair stuff which was great stuff that explored the depth of Dorian, probably most akin to her early stuff with Melinda when she first came to town. Although it was often not about her, the Cramer Women kept Dorian relevant in a way that would not have happened without them.
  14. Have you ever seen Moonstruck?

  17. I'd like to see some of Patty, wasn't she a welder like on Flashdance or something? It sounds like Roya got all of the '80s greed and avarice type stuff.
  18. That's an interesting explanation, makes sense. Yeah, I really wasn't watching much then, I missed a lot of the stuff with Frankie, Mia, and Simone, I think I was still very busy with college. That was probably around '02/'03. Yeah, I doubt people made a fuss about that Roya to Lisa transition at least in terms of looks. Kim on One Life has a times reminded me of Roya in the exotic looks department. And I titally see the BarBara Luna thing. BTW, that's probably a pretty rare shot of Patty Lotz in that recap you posted.
  19. Michelle Thomas' passing, that was so sad. Malcolm Jamal Warner spoke about spending her final moments with her, really touching stuff.
  20. i really liked Alimi. He really did look like an older version of the child actor who played Frankie. Did they ever have some dialogue about Frankie's switch from film school to med school? I guess that would have been during the Jason Olive years. Wow, that saxophone really takes me back. Where have all the soap saxophones gone?
  21. I love her in the black and white with the silver necklace. See what I mean by sort of an Erica/Tina mix?
  22. I think it's imperative that any actress chosen to be a temp Katherine has that "hard livin'" quality about her Like this lady:
  23. I love the clothes, Brooke looks so good, takes me back. As does the pool house which she lived in forever. The *big deal* of getting primetime Nader and Callahan on this show was completely lost on me as a child.
  24. He means it different. But Lord yes, I miss her too. Lately, I'm feenin' for 70s and 80s Erica, like, ALL of it. I want to see.
