Sheila/Halloween episode excellent!  Even if we just got to see TB/Lauren for one episode...Sigh.

I thought it was a lot of fun and didn’t take itself too seriously in a way I’m not used to from B&B. The Bell soaps seem to avoid the silliness we’re accustomed to from the ABC and NBC soaps. The special opening titles were a great touch, and I got a kick out of the chocolate toes.

TB is aging very well (btw, when she was on the show, the opening photo of her in the gunmetal dress was always my favorite.)

15 minutes would be easier for outsiders to digest, get hooked and binge.  15 minutes with the sane budget of a 60 minute show could go farther and hopefully improve production costs.  Full circle because radio soaps were 25 minutes

15 minutes without ads, sure, with ads, way too short. May as well do three 45 minute episodes a week. B&B episodes are around 18 minutes without ads (today's actually ran "long" at 19), which works perfectly well for me. Very easy to binge, and I might add that they still find ways to cram each episode with filler, recaps/flashbacks, and repetitive dialogue.

  3. From the “actors” to the “models” in the opening titles, I appreciate that a show with “Beautiful” in its name challenges our collective sense of beauty in terms of physical perfection. To be a millionaire in the fashion industry living in Los Angeles, your appearance is arguably irrelevant, you are among “the beautiful people”. Once upon a time, to be toilet white was a sign of upper class, evident of your life station that never required you to venture out of doors. Then tans were in as folx of means like Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel would holiday on Caribbean sands and tan. I look at the cast of B&B, often in typically soapy extreme closeup, and see beautiful bone structure coupled with sun damage. It’s a very L.A. thing.

Not to stick up for Brad, but I'm pretty sure they have been teased before? (somebody back me up (or debunk it)).

They were absolutely teased before, several months ago for about one and a half episodes and that was it. If it weren’t for this reprise, I would’ve categorized it with Thomas’ crush on Paris which lasted for a handful of episodes. These things don’t make it to the history books. Makes me wonder about the cancelled classic soaps and how many forgotten little story points there have been.

  5. Thank you @I Am A Swede @Markjeh and @Tonksadora!

After we went through alllllllladat with Quarter, *whimper-poof*.

Was Rena let go or did she leave on her own accord?

The only plus is that if they ever do bring Quinn back, they’ve established a set of circumstances that could lead to something interesting, like she was being blackmailed (no pun intended 🫣) or threatened somehow and was forced to leave town. On the other hand, she had a major position at Forrester so are we to believe that she’s still on the canvas, just unseen?

  6. @Tonksadora That is an interesting take, and something I’ve praised this show for here at SON is the ease of its watchability. B&B is incredibly easy to catch up with given its 18 minute episodes and repetitive dialogue. My question is, does it air 5x/week in most foreign markets? It would drive me absolutely insane watching this show only once a week, there is no way in hell I’d have the patience for that.

This is perhaps the only piece of Myrna’s wardrobe that was seen twice. Marla Adams wore this fox-trimmed jacket when she subbed for Carolyn Jones. Nancy Reagan sported it as well.

  8. How are we defining amped up?

re: Robin Strasser, whose mid-‘90s Dorian is perhaps my all-time favorite portrait of a soap character from the acting to the look… I noticed that she was suddenly inexplicably playing to the cheap seats and I did not care for it. On her hotline, she mentioned that she NEVER watched herself but did end up catching herself on the air and felt like she was underplaying, not doing enough. Dommage. That’s when she started amping it up and the character was never the same.

  9. I just knew that either Thomas or Steffy was using that app of Douglas’, Douglas is just too young to have the language and wherewithal to be responsible for the report to CPS. This doesn’t bode well for Thomas, the recidivist schemer. I hate that this will give holier than thou Liam ammo, although he may not have a leg to stand on if he and Brooke end up doing the unthinkable.

  10. I’ve been watching Days on Peacock for months now, and after each episode is over, the app always loads some other program while I’m off washing up or what have you. For me, it was usually a Spanish-speaking program I’d never heard of. But for the last week or so, it’s been loading MSW, a show I of course knew about growing up in the ‘80s but never really watched. It was so charming for me to make it over to my iPad and click on the screen to see that it was playing season 1 episode 1. I couldn’t help but smile and ask myself am I up to diving in. To see that Ms. Lansbury had passed yesterday really touched my heart. My little cousin was obsessed with Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I will fondly remember her voice which was like potted cream. May she RIP.
