RIP: In Memoriam Thread
RIP Bob Miller, a costume designer who worked on several soap operas, including “General Hospital”. He passed away on December 9, 2023, at the age of 67, in Los Angeles, California. Miller was also a member of the Costume Designers Guild and worked on other TV shows such as “The Young and the Restless,” “Days of Our Lives,” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” The above came from Bing Chat which is AI. Shawn Reeves, current GH Costume Designer who said Bob is legendary, was talking with Lynn Herring last week during a fitting & they both were aware that Bob's health was failing. Friday night Lynn called Shawn to tell him that sadly Bob had passed. Between Jon Lindstrom & Shawn's comments to me, I feel that this is bonafide even though I'm still not finding an obit or death notice. So, the GH family has lost one more. What a fracking year+! (For some reason the system won't let me edit this into my prior post.) https://soaphub.com/general-hospital/news-gh/daytime-stars-mourn-late-general-hospital-costumer-bob-miller/

Okay, this is Scab Dialogue week 2, right? I really liked today's show. So much so that I'm going to tell some folk who haven't been watching to take a look at today. Obviously it is the same characters & the same stories but the narrative was so much better. I mean by that, that to me at least, the execution was vastly improved. Did anyone else get that impression? Little thing, I love how awful Dimitri's prison haircut looks! Kate was better Kate. Paulina was better Paulina. Dare I say it but Leo even was a little better. I'll be anxious to hear what people think.

I have a long list, sorry, I am just into writers: Pete Lemay, Clarie Labine, Bill Bell Sr., Irna Phillips, Pat Falken Smith, Sheri Alexander, Donna Swajeski, Jill Lori Hurst, Nancy Curlee, Patrick Mulcahey, Douglas Marland, Michele Val Jean, Bridget & Jerome Dobson, Carolyn Culliton. That's 15! Whoa. I do like Sally. My favorite anecdote about Tom Langan is that once when Drake was playing John imprisoned, chained to the wall, dirty long hair, filthy full beard & he had Drake get a shave & a haircut to go to an awards show & Drake was furious because it was going to ruin the story. I said if they'd been smart they'd have just groomed the beard & done the haircut. You could write it that his captors forced him to get a haircut & a flea treatment but no way they'd have gone for a shave.

Well, geeze, that sounds a bit frustrating! Sometimes people who write spoilers do have a kind of double-speak they use on purpose. Nice coincidence one of my double majors was English too! I just laugh when that meme comes around where the BBC thinks we will only have read a dozen of 100 books they list. Yeah, take that sucker, I have read 68 of 'em! I once wrote a paper on Faulkner entitled "As I Lay Reading" because that's what I was doing so much of the time. And I am glad Sheri was there during the strike!, I count both her & Pat Falken Smith as some of my favorite writers.- Daytime Emmy's to now air on December 15th
This is an explanation of what could happen in a category with the extra shows in them, like The Bay and Beyond Salem 2. I think I understand, but then maybe I'm nuts. Anyway, maybe someone here will be SURE. Written by a Gold Derby Forum expert, Mike:- Daytime Emmy's to now air on December 15th
Nyah, doesn't sound a bit right! Probably busy drawing up a show bible for the next great 30 minute serial! Yeah that sounds more like it! But there are a few things you can take to the bank about Emmy reels. Michael Fairman always does interviews with everyone he can corral during the first 3 days after nominations. Gold Derby Forums always gets reels & in fact started the practice of posting reels. They do every award show! I wish the shows would go back to posting reels for Show, Directing & Writing!!!- Daytime Emmy's to now air on December 15th

Her business isn't writing for soaps but it is related to talent & show business. If indeed she was at DAYS I imagine she really wanted to do it.- DAYS: December 2023 Discussion Thread

@EdibleFlowers I am very fond of the Robichaux/Evans/Black blended family. I moved the conversation about 1991 to the other thread. This really is for current show discussions & of course complaining. "Look at us! We come from the most successful blended family that I know of." - Brady Black "Exactly! And, I don't care about 'half' or 'step'. I'm just really blessed to have you all in my life." - Eric Brady, DOOL, 11-29-22- DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
I'm doing a personal project, character analysis, 1991. I call it Roman, a Jerk or Not a Jerk? I'm on Day 15 which corresponds to 12-2-91 and so far Roman has not even been close to being a jerk, much less a male chauvinist pig or a misogynist. I can't imagine what in his 80s stuff is bad. Historically the cop & the doc were the most popular couple when Luke & Laura were off. Now when Dee & Wayne returned in '91 some people say Wayne got some really poor writing. I think you can't go by clips so I am watching full episodes. I didn't like John for a long time but I do like him now & I consider him the best parent & grandparent of all. And he did a great job with Carrie, Eric & Sami when they weren't really his responsibility. Of course, Carrie's parents are Roman & Anna. This started with me realizing it offends me for people to call the real historical Roman a misogynist. Real Roman, OG Roman, Roman played by Wayne Northrup was a hero, a good man. I know we are a product of our times & that there's stuff in soapdom's past that reads totally differently now than it did then. Re-watching The Doctors every day I am aware of how differently I see it now than I saw it as a teen. And I do think when you watch Roman in 1991 that you do have to be aware of what had happened to him in the 7 years of captivity & how absurd it was that anyone had ever believed Drake was playing Roman. Watching the scene where the whole family "meets" Real Roman in the Brady Fish Market is so amazing just how fast & completely first Shawn & then Caroline Know the truth when they see it & how hard they hug him!!- DAYS: December 2023 Discussion Thread

Of course, I think they should have brought Wayne back & really written for him. But if they weren't going to do that, then second choice would be to have him be in the ISA & bring Wayne back for short arcs & a world spy out of sight the rest of the time. What they have done with Josh, I would call NO CHOICE.- RIP: In Memoriam Thread
Jon Lindstrom is giving a lovely tribute to a former Costumer at GH, one Bob Miller. Looking & not yet finding an obit.- Daytime Emmy's to now air on December 15th
Emmy reels are also up on GoldDerbyForum & on my FB soap group. Soaps: The Good,The Bad & the Ugly. Michael Fairman also has extensive reel content up on his site. Only DAYS Writing is known & no one is known on Directing or Show.- DAYS: December 2023 Discussion Thread

Sorry, just seeing this now. GH was picketed last strike, too, just like they were this time.- DAYS: December 2023 Discussion Thread
With ED what it is, is what she does want to do. I believe in the past she once did work for both shows at the same time. In the recent past she's said she doesn't want to work full-time long tenure for either show. So, unless something has changed she is into short runs. The reason Wally can do so is because he's not on contract. Good to know! 🤔🙄😉🤣 Isn't that the truth?!!! Really, you have to ask yourself why Chris Kositchek is dishing chowder at the pub?!! Yes, that's my take on it, too. And, if anyone knows what is is like to be overworked on daytime, it is ED! I know her time with her family is very important to her.- 2023 Writers + Actors Strike Thread
I have noted elsewhere here that Sheri also wrote for GH in her past life of actively always writing.- 2023: The Directors and Writers Thread
Dan & Chris's scripts have been here & there at the studio, as have they themselves, for a few weeks. Their scripts supposedly should begin to air a bit before Christmas. But, I do know that it was their idea that Chase propose to Brook Lynn. That's not saying the script of it from last week was theirs. Nope, just the decision to move them toward marriage was one of their first decisions, when they got back. - DAYS: December 2023 Discussion Thread
