Constance Ford is my favorite actress & I never fail to marvel at her performance in that movie & that slap scene is so amazing. She not only knocks her daughter off her feet but causes the Christmas tree to fall. Those people are something, though. The husband is such a horrible person but then so is the wife.

Here's something we've talked about before & basically EVERYONE agrees that they isolated that family & still are doing so! The show should do much better!

I stand alone in loving & enjoying Tripp & Wendy. Of course I enjoyed them more when they were getting up to no good helping Ava & Harris head to England. More of that kind of thing would be fabulous! But I find them interesting. She's got this father issue & is very attuned to socio-political issues of patriarchy, women being ignored but also of her brother being poorly treated & now, of course, grief over his strange death. Tripp is a go-getter, a doctor, a great cook, open for fun & adventure, a real friend if you need one & a mama's boy. The other day he was so patient with Stephanie & actually had some advice.

Douglas Marland was 100% against the rebranding of the rape as a seduction & quit over it. Pat Falken Smith was 100% against the rebranding of the rape as a seduction but as the sole support of her teenage daughter she did not feel that she could quit over it. She needed the paycheck. So, she stayed & went along with the company line, uncomfortable lying but it was the position she was in. No one knows if someone above Monty's level was involved in the decision to rebrand as a seduction. It is possible it was entirely on her, but not necessarily so. I know this from extensive research, including but not limited to talking to a soap journo who talked to Pat Falken Smith at the time. If this information helps inform a tiny bit of this big issue, all to the good.

Okay, I do not understand. I thought we had learned that the head of ABC daytime mandated that Luke would rape Laura. I thought that they did not think of putting them together romantically until sometime had gone by. Are you saying that you think that whole scene should have been staged totally differently? Because it is not possible to see that scene, hear it, etc, & not know that it was rape. They did not call it rape. They dramatically presented rape. And, then they had Laura dramatically act like a rape victim. Then, Monty decided to call it a seduction, which was ludicrous. And, when it was scripted & taped wasn't Douglas Marland still there? We seem to have a different understanding of the timeline. I have long thought that Monty should have thrown that out & retaped a romantic scene. I have joked that if Ron were doing this, he'd have killed off Luke & brought Tony back as another character to have the grand romance with Laura. In the joke his name is Myron & he wears a sweater vest & has doodads in a pocket protector.

That very predictably is not going to happen. Yes, we can have Jack & Jennifer again but, again, it will be MA & CM. MR is now & forever more past tense, historical, that is all. Because of this impending death, I am so much in favor of them bringing back PR & KA. If I were doing a wholesale refurbishing I would definitely bring Stephen Schnetzer on as Steve Olsen. Why? He's there. He's popular. He would fit in. He might even attract some fans. While I would normally agree, the character of Jack Deveraux has been that "reformed" prior to now. And, if the T****-esque storyline did not turn viewers away from him I doubt they will at this point. And, honestly, I'd recast Jack with Mark Valley and bring in Cady McClain, LOL! They would have FIRE chemisry! Yes, Jack does not count as a rapist. He had to be reformed to be able to pair him with Jennifer. Really reformed.

Only 4 days till Christmas! Today's DAYS was perfect for that. SuperSorased Holly is 17 today! Poor thing, no one has time for her to have a birthday. At least we learned that she is not an accomplished imbiber. However, once again she keeps Johnny from being with Chanel. Such an unfortunate pattern. For continuing story, 1. Paulina is really sick. 2. Andrew destroyed the evidence that would implicate his baby sister. 3. John is mindful that Victor knew all along all of his past & that he took it all to the grave with him. John seems melancholy. I wish I could refer him to the fandom wiki that lists all the retcons! 4. They wrapped presents for the needy kids. One of those times when they act like Christmas is just for kids. If you ask me, very often, grown-ups need a little Christmas much more than children do! But, what's important is that today was a good day to be a DAYS fan.
