You are totally due those props! I am like a US soap, a copycat! (Although copycatting is a part of sociological org theory for most US businesses, not just soaps!)

GH: February 2025 Discussion Thread
Marty gave valuable backstory about how Cyrus was in his "care-taking of their mother". His visitation of ill, terminal patients was noted. But, I think his reason for killing Sam was to clear a way for Lulu to get to Dante & I think he referred to that the other day to Lulu, who of course, had NO CLUE what he meant!!!

All My Children Tribute Thread
So, in the past 24 hours I have watched 3 episodes of China Beach, 2 episodes of 1988 AMC, celebrated my birthday, & I'm due at a GH Jarly Zoom in an hour. This is entirely NOT usual for me! AMC 1-5-1988 The actor Todd McKee is familiar to me because he played the youngest Capwell son on Santa Barbara. Who is he right now on AMC? Today was mostly about Julie and Nina. Ross, of course has just had the biggest change, his first day in prison. Besides the guy who led him to his cell his only contact was meeting a prisoner/chaplain who knew he was in for rape & told him about a group that meets that is Sex Offenders. Ew & Ugh. Why do I need to get to know a rapist? Oh, yeah, because I'm a US soap fan. Okay, Julie. Love Lauren Holly! Again, she looks so freakin' young! Now, I do not understand what the relationship is between her & Ellen. Nor do I know who her "real" mother is who lied about her biological father for years & years. It seemed to me that Julie & Ellen had just had a kind of coming back together & that Julie was all set & excited to be moving back (I think) into Ellen's house. So, yesterday they said "No more secrets between us, going forward." In that spirit today Ellen told Julie that her "real" father isn't actually dead & instead is Mark, Erica's brother & Ellen's lover. To say that Julie did not take this news well would be a huge understatement! First, she flat out refused to believe it. Once convinced, she's very upset about it to the point that now she's not going to move in at Ellen's. Mark came in & tried to talk to her but it did no good. After Julie left, Ellen & Mark reaffirmed their relationship, nuzzled, kissed, etc. Julie went & talked to her boyfriend, who looks familiar but I haven't figured out who he is yet. He says she belongs with him. The show began with Palmer on the phone, worried about Nina, who arrives just as he hangs up the phone. I guess the woman in the scene is Nina's mother. Nina is all upset because she's married both to Cliff & to Matt. She's concerned about her legal status. She loves Cliff, always has loved him, never stopped loving him. It was just inconvenient with his being dead & all, so Matt was there for her. She married him. She seems to regret it. She seems to think she never really loved him, maybe it was just gratitude & being lonely & grief-stricken over Cliff. Also she mentions a son she has with Cliff. Didn't see him & do not know his name. We did see both Matt & Cliff, no, not together. We'll come back to Nina. Natalie! She has a meeting with a reporter. Her expectation is that it will be usual, regular, nice but it is definitely not. The reporter is rude, crude, aggressive, etc. We saw Cliff with Doc Martin. Then, Cliff is at Palmer's, in the front room by himself. There's a 3-4 step down from the next room, or perhaps a hall. Cliff is looking slightly up watching Nina descend those few steps down to him. The look on his face is so full of love for her. They embrace but they do not kiss. She moves on into the room & they begin to talk. We saw Nina express that she never loved Matt & should not have married him & the scene dissolves to Matt's face. He's been daydreaming this, which does not speak well for his current frame of thought, at all! Checked my notes & I have said everything I have to say! I'm going to give today a 9/10. Got a bit of closing credits. Agnes Creator & Stephen Schneckel (sp?) EP.

2025: The Directors and Writers Thread
Hasn't Cathy Lepard been a SW (I think) for at least a year? Remember it was Jan. xx-teenth 2024 when Dan & Chris were fired. So, we have recently passed the one yr anniversary of Korte becoming a co-Head! (And the beginning of Mulcahey's too brief tenure, as well.) But, I saw it in my desk calendar & noted it because of Korte since she is still functioning in the capacity of her promotion. Does anyone else find it a little odd that Dan O'Connor went from co-HW at GH, to unemployed, to DAYS to write BD & then to BTG also to write BD between Jan. '24 & Jan. '25? It's just quite a few changes in 12 months. Have y'all seen the TTunie IG where Michele Val Jean says she's had these characters in her head for some time & now they have faces & voices, etc.? She also said she'd ALWAYS wanted to create a soap about well-off black people, and black people who were not "downtrodden"? I think that's news. I don't think she'd said it before. Of course, I guess it would be a predictable ambition. I don't know why I suddenly got so chatty. Sorry.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
You know who recommended Black & Stern, right? In case you don't it was none other than Les Moonves!!!! He KNEW they had zero experience with daytime. Thank god they weren't in that position for very long!!! It was 1995 when P&G played Musical Chairs with the EPs. Valente went from AW to ATWT. Jill went from GL to AW. Caso got left out. Laibson was in at GL. Then add in Moonves' stupidity about the HWs. Nothing was the same after that. Doug Marland had died in 1993. Caso, forced into retirement from P&G began a successful second career. On all 3 P&G soaps in NYC the changes in execs in the next decade were both amazing and appalling. This is only the 2 CBS ones. Upheaval & Changes in TPTB in some of the soaps on the air between 1996-2003. GH: February 2025 Discussion Thread
This has been coming on for a long time. These things have been building up. This rant is worthy of any rant anywhere, on any subject, about anyone, on any message board, blog or essay, Wheeee! When you blow it out, you blow it all the way out. I am proud to associate myself with these words! And your coda, about women specifically, is so true & in this misogyny are the seeds of the discomfort we all live with.

Of course, that could be so. (Frank) About the last, there is a thing, maybe. The money today is not even close to BITD. If she knows that, cool. If not, maybe a problem. But, if that were it, no big deal, no foul. Things would just stay the same. You now have me in stitches, I'm laughing so hard. I have to laugh to keep from crying. The image this brings up of two divas who were bad for this show, JFP & Frank! Where's Guza? He seems to have gone missing. And I guess that makes Frons, oh, well, Daytime Destroyer trumps diva by a long shot.

But, now it's more than that. Now she has a reputation - as a diva. And, when you think about it, why shouldn't she? In today's terms, she is one. WTH she's earned it. But, diva does not have to mean "difficult". I suspect she is just one of the gang. But I don't think anyone there gives her credit for just being an ordinary cast member! And that's what is really wrong.

@carolinegJust watched the first 2 episodes of China Beach. It's a double episode. Wouldn't you just know it? Dodger spoke exactly 2 lines. "You have round eyes. It's been a long while since I've seen a woman with round eyes." And, that was all he said. I'll have to watch another, to be able to tell anything at all about his speech patterns!!!

@MaximOMG!!! You'll really make me blush! Thanks so much! I'm really excited about my birthday, which is not usually the case. There's just something about turning 74 "years young"!!! I remember when I was a callow youth that I thought I would not live past 18. Now, of course, I feel gravitas, if that makes any sense at all. Well, again, many thanks!

All My Children Tribute Thread
I just watched, for the first time, AMC 1-4-1988. Lauren Holley looks so young. (Julie) Myrtle looks fabulous!!! Phoebe, the same, never changes. Stuart is in love & he is so happy! Skye is obsessed with telling Stuart about AIDS transmission. She's decided her dad, Adam should be the one to tell Stuart. But, Cindy beat them to the punch. She just told Stuart that she has AIDS & that she got it from her husband, who was an addict. She also told tiny Scott that his dad got very sick & died. This episode had no closing credits, who wrote this? Mark & Ellen seem romantic. When Ellen saw Julie she gasped. Now they have talked & promised no more secrets between them, so Ellen told Julie that Mark is her biological father but Julie does not believe her, It was so weird seeing the length at 44:24. I'm not sure how Tom fits in. Someone, a young girl, is moving out to a trailer & Phoebe is furious with her. But, then, she would be. So, that happened. And I enjoyed it immensely. Going along with Maxim, I give it a 9.3/10.

ALL: General Retro Soap Discussion
Oh, I forgot that Michael T. Weiss was in it!!!! Yeah, the Gulf War killed some promising shows. I think one was called WIOU. Anyway, at this rate I'm going to have to watch the DS 1991 primetime reboot on YT.
