Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
I can definitely see that. I don't think they'd ever write him out, unless he decides to leave, which is very likely. In any case, unless they kill him off in too permanent a way, he will always be able to come back.

Hopefully they'll move him onto someone else. In all seriousness, he's worth keeping around -- the actor is decent and the character works.

HBO: Game of Thrones
A thrilling second episode, full of highlights. I can't believe there's only 5 episodes left! So many unexpected returns... Melisandre, Hot Pie, Nymeria! The female-led war council was spectacular. I loved how they settled on a strategy and then Olenna was like, ignore all that! Be a dragon! So happy we got the tender Missandei and Grey Worm love scene I always hoped we'd get. Sam is determined to become a maester and disgust us every episode lmao But that man cutting into the pie and making us think it's pus coming out of Jorrah's flesh was inspired. Puke-inducing, but inspired. I cried when Arya learned Jon Snow is in power. So of course he decides to go to Dragonstone just as Arya is going back to Winterfell. The truly unexpected thing was Arya and Nymeria seeing each other again. Maisie did phenomenal work in that scene. She's got an Emmy nomination, that's for sure. I was so happy when Jon appointed Sansa responsible while he was gone. That look she gave him, and the happiness in Brienne's reaction... I really like that they upped the ante with the Lannisters actually having a way to fight back against the dragons. And that unexpected final battle. Truly, unbelievably stunning. Some movies wish they could pull that off. I did not expect Reek to come back, but of course -- you do not simply get over the horrendous torture Theon went through. I hope this is the beginning of him finding even more of his strength. Those moments of a psychotic Euron (I guess he's not all talk) laughing next to a betrayed Yara were superb. Also, I think it's interesting how they fulfilled one of my wishes (to see the damn sand snakes gone) but they subverted it -- as one by one, they found gruesome death in the hands of Euron, I felt bad and then worse. Those were horrible deaths.

yas! We could cut her some slack, though, since she's leading to Ross running around the village naked.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
What in the blazing hell are you all talking about???? James Hyde looks great. The fυck? The styling is perhaps a little OTT for a 54 yo man, but still... And his skin tone has always looked like that, even on PASSIONS.....

HBO: Game of Thrones
Can't believe I didn't even recognize Jim Broadbent as Archmaester Marwyn! Very good. Still in awe of the fantastic set design for Dragonstone's throne room. Like something right out of Lord of the Ring's Moria.

HBO: Game of Thrones
S07E01... So, don't proceed if you haven't watched. What a GREAT cold open. To think it wasn't even planned to be the first scene... but so marvelously done. I did not expect to see old Frey again, but this was amazing. And what a great cameo of Ed Sheeran. His singing really was wonderful. If you're going to do stunt casting, this is how you do it. It was a perfect fit. That entire sequence was a surprise. You could see the shock in Arya to see them be so kind. The conflict between Sansa and Jon is so fascinating, juicy. There's clearly love there, but also a lot of complicated family feelings, and they're BOTH right and wrong. You can see both their POV. This is going to be great, but I do hope they don't end up too far apart. Boy, they really did try me with 2 minutes of Sam cleaning shιt and almost puking, but it paid off, as it showed his intimate knowledge of the citadel and therefore ability to gain access to the restricted section (echoes of Harry Potter! ha!). It's clear convincing everyone to help him will require work. Glad he discovered the location of the dragonglass, although with Dany there, Jon might have trouble gaining access. And what a shock -- Jorah is there! I did not see that coming. The Hound's journey of guilt was also very fascinating. Such an unexpected turn for him. The writing is very deep & complicated for Cersei, especially when she bitterly asked Jaime if she was supposed to mourn her lost children. If she allows herself to do that, she'll probably never recover. And Euron is just fun. His proposal scene was equally dangerous and funny. Tormund & Brienne forever, of course. What a great pay off to see Dany finally reach her home. That wonderfully produced sequence, stunning in its magnitude. I love how silent it all was, until the very end. It's back!
