  1. Indeed. I have loved every second of SLC. As @Chris B points out, there are parallels to Potomac - in my view these smaller communities make the best settings for RH franchises. This season reminded me of Melbourne and Vancouver (in my view, the finest RH iterations) in that it had strong cast chemistry, a tight storyline arc, and was beautifully produced and embraced its setting.
  2. It is now clear that LVP's overall deal is with NBC/Universal, rather than Bravo itself, so they're going to get their money's worth - I think it expires in 2022.
  3. Bless him, poor little soul. That is a real tragedy.
  4. Danny’s impression of Meredith makes me laugh every single time.
  5. I got his name wrong - it's Thomas Kelly. But yes, my understanding is they're one in the same. He is obviously a major problem. BH will never be fixed from the looks of it but at least it's last season, while a mess, was watchable thanks to Denise F*cking Richards, Kyle. OC, however, is in a tailspin: it is a calamity. Ratings are in the toilet. The audience has spoken. It's time to gut the show and start over.
  6. THAT is a cast I’d watch. Throw in Jeana Keough as a Friend. This season of OC was the worst Housewives season in history (yes, including the NJ season with the twins). The show must experience a hard reboot and that involves firing the existing EP as well. Vicki gave a podcast interview to Behind the Velvet Rope and she said the current EP, Chris Kelly, is why she was demoted. If he is responsible for what we see onscreen then he absolutely has to go.
  7. I watched the movie. It was a masterpiece of Lifetime movie tropes. The actress playing Wendy really embodied a lot of her mannerisms - and the wig budget had to have been supplemented by Wendy’s own because they all looked great. It was never boring - if anything it was too fast paced. Considering she produced it Wendy did not canonize herself as some saint. I think it did a good job of showing why Wendy stayed in the marriage so long and what her true breaking point was and why it was the trigger it ended up being.
  8. She suuuuuuure is. Only RHOV's Jody Claman and RHONJ's Siggy Flicker have self destructed on a season in a comparable way.
  9. I loved Larry King Live. For decades Larry was the 'go to' guy for a softball interview where a high profile person could get their point across. It was because he was a softball interviewer that Larry had the access he did. Many of those who went on his show failed to realize that what Larry did was give you miles of rope, if they hung themselves that was their own fault. Nobody enjoyed being a broadcaster as much as he did. His coverage of OJ was probably his peak - everyone wanted to speak to him, he was so LA nobody could touch him.
  10. A Canadian study has evaluated the use of the anti-inflammatory drug colchicine, commonly used to treat gout and the results are quite promising in regard to colchicine's ability to prevent the most serious symptoms of Covid-19. Best of all, colchicine is a generic, old, well studied, commonly prescribed, and inexpensive drug: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/covid-19-research-heart-institute-1.5885347
  11. OC I'm glad it's only 2 parts because this season could hardly sustain itself it was so bland and boring and pointless. Brown Wind deserved all of the heat she took and while she fought back well, I don't like her at all. I'm sick of her and don't want to see her on my screen going forward. Emily and Gina both came across well, as they have basically all season. Shannon remains totally insufferable. It's interesting to see flashback scenes because her face is a cautionary tale about fillers and cosmetic dermatology treatments coupled with weight gain. She looks like a swollen cabbage patch doll. Tamra was right that sometimes a good ol' fashioned facelift is all you really need (Tamra still looks amazing and her recent appearance on Danny Pellegrino's podcast has me...I can't believe I'm saying this...missing her.) Elizabeth really does lack a certain charisma when she's filmed for this show. She was far more interesting on Heather McDonald's podcast. Kelly is an idiot and while I appreciated her dragging Andy, who needs to go, her discussion about masks is absolutely pathetic. She is ill informed and anyone listening to her is ill advised in doing so. This franchise needs a really massive overhaul. I'd do the following: 1. Bring back Tamra and some names from the past like Lynn, Jeana, and Laurie - let's see where their lives are now. 2. Keep Emily and Gina. 3. Fire Shannon, Elizabeth, Kelly, and Brown Wind. 4. Hire one new cast member. SLC Still loving it. Heather is just one of the brightest spots to my week, seeing her dance into that restaurant to Coach Shah's delight. Brookes and Meredith are the oddest little pairing but I'll hand it to him: he's the most interesting HW child in years. Whitney's storyline with her father strikes a very authentic note. It would be so stressful to deal with him because he seems like a live wire.
  12. Yes, she got her JD from Northwestern's Pritzker School of Law, which is always part of the top 10 rankings (if not the top 5). Not only that but she got her Masters in Management (aka Business Administration) at the same time. Seeing how she chooses to 'not engage' with Jen on camera, I can see the education paid off.
  13. I agree. I haven’t commented on ATL for several weeks, despite watching faithfully, as I don’t think there’s much to say. It’s boring and whatever soft reset they thought they were doing is a failure. I am all for following their real lives but someone as negative as Kenya is draining to watch and in a world full of serious bad news, I don’t care to endure someone as negative as she is.
  14. OC Alright, so I decided to watch the rest of the season on a cold Saturday last week and watched last night's finale. In a word: awful. What an absolute zero of a season. Joyless, entitled, disgusting. And truncated to the point that I had to question why it was even aired. The only people who came off well were Gina and Emily. Gina had the most fulsome storyline and easily came off the most likeable. She felt real and accessible. As some have mentioned, Emily had the season that Shannon wanted to have when it came to her Covid-19 diagnosis. Shane had the comeback of all comebacks where his sense of humour and ability to roll with the punches was a highlight. Their kids were adorable. Shannon is just so mean and emotional and awful that she was always going to make a pandemic all about her. This season really highlighted Shannon's worst qualities and she was so unlikeable. Elizabeth, in any other season, might have been far more interesting than this season allowed because oh, there are more layers to her than a lasagna. Kelly was non-factor. She had zero storyline and is unlikeable. She is one who I can't articulate any storyline for her. No one is more unlikeable, however, than Brown Wind. Somehow, she was able to incinerate all the goodwill the audience would/could/should have had for her with a combination alcoholic/coming out storyline. That was a first - but she's so vacuous and self absorbed that I watched it and concluded I didn't care to hear about her and all her selfishness ever again. SLC I am still absolutely loving this show. Heather is a dream and a delight. She gave an interview this week on Danny Pellegrino's podcast that is a very fun listen. She is just as she appears on television. Jen is burning through storyline like a forest fire - she comes across as unhinged and my lord Coach Shah is a patient man. Whitney was the bigger person to smooth things over and apologize. I don't like Lisa. She just seems mean and like a woman who thinks she's more important than she is. Meredith is like a mannequin - beautiful to look at but I have not seen or heard anything of substance from her. Mary is tacky. That house? Heaving with excess? NJ Trailer It looks like an incredibly juicy season full of mayhem. The thing with NJ is that the husbands really get in the mix. Joe Gorga is as much a HW as any of them - let's get him in the opening credits at this point.
  15. I don't think it's Luann or Sonja based on their Instagram postings...but you never know because so many celebrities keep content stockpiled for posting later.
  16. There's no way they were physically together when this was filmed thanks to the pandemic, but it's Nene and Dame Joan:
  17. I can see that, potentially, for some of theme. Isn't that level of disingenuousness, in a way worse?
  18. Many years ago, back when she was the District Attorney for Westchester County, Jeanine would appear on CNN, specifically Larry King Live, and while she expressed a 'conservative' view, she was by no means the monster she has become. In that clip above, it's like the last 20 years of lunacy never happened and she sounded like how I remembered her. It makes me wonder whether Jeanine has ever believed or meant a word that's come out of her mouth. Indeed, she damned her own viewers, how did the irony of that not hit her?
  19. SLC I love this franchise so much. It is a breath of fresh mountain air. Heather is just full of win. She reminds me of a Melissa McCarthy movie character - just so fun and real.
  20. I've already posted this in the Covid-19 thread, but I think it's important that people see a familiar face taking a vaccination. Dame Joan Collins publicized her receipt of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine through the British National Health Service:
  21. In the perfect marriage of soap and Covid-19, Dame Joan Collins has publicized her vaccination with the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine through the British National Health Service:
  22. Just watched the episode where Phillip dies. It helps that I speak French (not well, but passably), but that episode really holds up based off of the music and the facial expressions of sheer horror on Jess Walton and Tricia Cast. Whoever the French actress was who did Jess Walton's dubbing did an incredible job, she copied her intonations so well.
  23. Sad to hear that - I fondly recall her playing Donna's mom on That 70's Show. 65 is far too young to die.
  24. RHOA I enjoyed the Porsha Party and am amazed that Kenya is surprised that anyone would not welcome her when she speaks the way that she does. She is just loathsome.
  25. Great idea @Gray Bunny Best Show RHOP: This year the ladies of Potomac delivered a season that was burning white hot before it even hit our screens. This franchise hit its stride in season 4 and season 5 was no exception as real life court battles and infidelity dramas casted a long shadow over the lives and loves of our housewives. Most Entertaining Show RHONY: The franchise about the city that never sleeps truly did not let audiences down, despite the season being less than electric. Outstanding Scene Stealer Sonja Morgan: RHONY. Sonja with the sexy 'J' displays a level of heart and hilarity that makes her a housewives classic. Even when her friends complete their probation and take her in for a warm embrace, Sonja manages to take a bit of bagel and melt our hearts at the same time. Best Friend of the Housewives Marlo Hampton: RHOATL. While Marlo had stiff competition this year in BH's Camille Grammar and NJ's Danielle Staub, this Georgia peach proved, yet again, to be the MVP in a franchise where she's a housewife in all but name. Whether she's taking temperatures in driveways or ensuring her social distancing protocols are being followed, Marlo is equal parts fierce and fabulous. Best Ensemble RHOSLC. The ladies of Salt Lake City represent a new entry into the housewives universe, but the ensemble of this franchise is refreshing, feels bold and exciting, and the onscreen chemistry, thus far, is a thing to behold. Best Exit Tinsley Mortimer: RHONY. The former Upper East Side socialite left the franchise midway through the season to gain a fiance and a whole new life in Chicago. But the element of her exit that truly made her iconic was her return for the reunion where she decimated longtime audience favourite Dorinda Medley with truth bomb after truth bomb, knowing that her time on the franchise was up and that she was unshackled from the rigours of production. Most Rejuvenated Housewife Luann de Lesseps: RHONY. The former countess was truly feeling herself, and Jovani, after a rough previous season where cast mates accused her of being self obsessed. In this latest season, she was Lu and Improved, hosting events for former inmates, playing peacemaker on cast trips, and embracing her reclaimed freedom. Most Improved Franchise: RHOBH: True, this cast of venal harpies, relying on high ratio mortgages, private loans galore, and American Express cards, are able to show the true depths of America's wicked soul, and OG Kyle Richards continues to not have a viable storyline for a decade, but the dramatic ouster of Denise f*ckin' Richards, Kyle, and the additions of Garcelle Beauvais and Sutton Stracke have set the stage for an epic upcoming season as heartless shell of a housewife Erika Girardi will try and spin her way out of a financial catastrophe...that is if production doesn't allow her to scream 'Bravo, Bravo, f*cking Bravo'... Worst Show RHOC: The franchise that started it all has become unrecognizable after firing the OG of the OC veteran Vicki Gunvalson. While Gunvalson had been on thin ice with the audience for years, her firing sucked the Midwestern soul out typically Republican Orange County. The current season, filmed at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, highlighted all of the unlikeable qualities of this cast, showing that this show is in desperate need of a had reboot and retooling. Worst Loose End Why was 'Big Pharma' following Big D*ck Aaron and Denise? Fans around the world wondered who the car following Denise f*ckin Richards, Kyle, and her well endowed hubby, really belonged to? Given Richards' ouster, we'll never know. Worst Exit Dorinda Medley: RHONY. How the mighty have fallen. Audiences once asked themselves "What are you doing here without Dorinda?!" yet by the end of the current season of RHONY, even her most ardent fans admitted it was a very bad season for Ms. Medley and it was time for her to go. The anger and bitterness she displayed throughout the season bordered on irrational and her implosion at the reunion sealed her fate.
