  1. Ann Marcus would have created the bible and Goldstone and Perry would oversee the day to day story development. Marcus might function as consultant.
  2. Love of Life 1974 (possibly earlier) Kate's musical arranger Somerset Bonnie Dotley (Parker) Buffy (and other roles) Jameson Parker's girlfriend/wife
  3. Way back in Sept 73 variety reports that ABC is developing 'American Family' through Spelling Goldberg with Jay Presson Allen writing the scripts. It finally went to air March 76. I believe that is highly unusual for a show to be in development for so long. Guess there must have been someone who really believed in the concept.
  4. Found this in the old thread In August 78, ABC officially announced it was developing a new soap 'The Best Years' from Ann Marcus. It involved the love triangles of parents, students and teachers of a Southern California beachtown high school community. Headwriters will be Joyce Perry and Ray Goldstone, all then working on Days. Where would ABC have placed this? All of it's soaps were doing well at this stage. Was it 30 min or 60? Maybe 4pm to replace Edge? Or late morning/midday?
  5. Sally Kellerman Pilots/Proposals From Here to Eternity 1965 ABC pilot with Roger Davis and Darren McGavin.
  6. i truly believe Griffith/Morina are just making it up as they go along. Recast Faith as older for no reason just to send her off.
  7. This reminds me of earlier when Millee Taggart arrived as Janet. In the 5 or so years she'd been absent she now had 2 children in their early teens. Previously Janet had been roughly the same age as Patti but now was older. Patti was still a young married trying to conceive her first child. Was the Patti/Janet connection played down to cover that? I don't know why they created Sarah Whiting instead of just making her Tracey. Did Patti refer to her children when she returned .How was their absence explained?
  8. John James played Rick Decker who married Susan Stewart. Larry Lau played Brian who was involved with Lucinda.
  9. Rosemary Prinz High Hopes pilot 'battered wife' Mildred Clinton As The World Turns pre 1977 Anthony Cannon Somerset pre The Doctors
  10. 100% agree. it is a pet peeve of mine that happens in every show. Viable characters are dropped never to return which then isolates onscreen characters and we are left wondering why so and so never mentions a(previously) much loved family member. In the case if SFT, I get that say Joel Higgins wanted to leave and Bruce was played out (for now) so yes send him and Amy out of town but don't just forget about them!! Bruce could return a few years later recast , either widowed or divorced with new characters to interact with and straight away Jo has more to do. The continuity is not lost. And in the meantime, Jo mentions him so viewers are still connected to him. Patti took too long to come back and should have been a little older. As much as I hate SORAS enough time would have passed for Chris and Tracey to be teens. As for Eunice, they were trying to make the show younger and Ann Williams was probably expensive after 10 years but why not play the whole Jennifer shooting scenario but have Eunice injured but not dead. After all that trauma, she could divorce John and leave town to recover, leaving the door open for her return. Same goes for Gary Walton. Left town and never returned while a slew of new characters came and went.
  11. Yes. Rod Arrants's wife. I still believe she got the job because of that connection.
  12. Adam has already worked at Jabot. Adam is always the outsider. It's been going on for years. Sounds interesting. But what could it be? But that was Josh's choice in the first place. Anyway, they should never have gotten married. Why not have them just leave for Italy as a happy couple? Wouldn't it be more interesting if they returned with some issues eg Kyle wanted to come back, Summer is torn. Summer is struggling as a young step mom etc. Keep them away from the altar as long as possible, Again that was Josh's choice to marry them quickly .Then we lost Boaz and they went with the awful surrogate story. Josh doesn't seem to plan out more than a few weeks ahead, which isn't really an issue for him because he just ploughs on whether things track or are logical...
  13. What happened to Moses? Yet another aged teen that went nowhere-see Fen, Ana, Charlie, Mattie and Reed. Nick at #1 with no real story. In SOD Josh Morrow said he was happy for Nick to be back at Newman as he had no interactions with anyone as a part of New Hope. But he said he doesn't like having to wear a suit. Noah/Allie- create a new young love story and then drop them for a month.
  14. Was Road of Life pre-recorded at that stage? If so Don may have continued in the role although I doubt it as the workload on ATWT would have been quite heavy and would he have the time/inclination to continue with radio? If ROL was live it would have been impossible for him to do both. Thank you so much for taking the time to detail those storylines as this information in unavailable ANYWHERE as far as I know, so you are performing a sterling service in committing this era of soap/radio history to print. Coverage of the radio soaps seemed to die out by the early 50's. Any other information you have about radio soaps please share with us. It is much appreciated!
  15. Oops that was my own typo. Should have been Martin. It is my understanding that Anne was married at least once before the show began - to a gentleman with the surname St Cyr, he was a count or some sort of low level royalty. Can anyone verify that, or am I just imagining? The whole Philip paternity thing had to come out in the first 6 months before Rosemary left. Otherwise they probably could have got more mileage from it. Did it matter much to Phil after the initial reveal? Amy never returning was odd really. Even a recast a few years on would have been acceptable to explore that relationship more. I always thought that Ellen Shepherd could have been rewritten as Amy Tyler.
  16. That's nice considering they were once estranged.
  17. Please don't judge the board on the comments of a few posters. Unfortunately that is how things go sometimes.
  18. As The World Turns Jennifer Hughes Kathleen Larkin 2 day temp for Gillian Spencer 75
  19. Corbin was 20 in 1974,beau was 23 so I guess it could have worked. maybe corbin could have played alittle older. Years later Eric Braeden's son Christian was considered for the role of Cole Howard. Chandler Hill Harben auditioned for Phil Brent on AMC in 1970. He was in the final two but lost to Richard Hatch.
  20. Thanks for filling me in on that.
  21. Yes that is puzzling but as we know from later, Bill kept the storylines very separate at times. The sibling relationship between Liz and Bruce and Mark's relationship with the Fosters doesn't seem to be explored. Same as Lorie's connection to Philip. When he died did she have any reaction?
  22. Guiding Light Dr Corey Roger Morden early 70's
  23. Bev said in the interview that it was after she joined AW initially as Iris. She had a 3 month contract, as at first Iris was just there to be Alice's employer in NY until Alice and Steve reunited. Then they decided to make Iris an ongoing character so Bev was offered a longterm contract. That's when Conboy approached her about Y&R. Bev first appeared on AW in Dec 72 so March 73 is when she would have been out of her initial contract and available for Y&R. So it seems an original cast member. Maybe at that point Bill planned to introduce the Hendersons soon after the premiere but as he got into it, found there weren't needed. So in that case, the character of Regina could have been the one offered to Beverlee.
  24. Don't know if this has been discussed somewhere in the previous 800 pages but Beverlee McKinsey was offered a role on Y&R by John Conboy. Bev was 38 at the time. So what role would have fit her? Maybe Liz Foster based on her performance as Emma Ordway on AW where she played a drab older woman. Juliann McCarthy was 6 years older than Bev. Any thoughts?
