Bill bell cast him in basically the same role in 3 shows. The happy go lucky but unlucky in love French restaurateur. Days as Robert,Y&R Pierre and B&B Pierre. I know he was good friends with Bill and Susan Hayes and he and Bill met every week for lunch for many years.

I guess the change was made to a smaller set so that more permanent sets could be used in the studio space -that already happened with that set years back. OR The Chancellor set has been dismantled because Abby will move out and it will not be seen again. The room we are seeing is temporary. Chance will become a member of the GC homeless and Abby will move in with Devon so they can co-parent. Remember the fuss when the set was redocorated by Billy and changed back? Will there be any blowback this time?

I think the reason some peo­ple criticize so-called soap opera is because they look at one once and fail to enter deeply into the story since they haven't been fol­lowing it. EB needs to realize that Victor has been destroyed over the years and his desire to be frontburner is not good for the show, especially when its apparent he is no longer physically up to it. If the show had Succession type writing then Victor might be viable but EB wants Victor to be respected and admired for his horrible behavior. He's nor even a love to hate character at this point.

Jill needs to be on for a few episodes so the character is re-established properly through scenes with various characters-Jack, Billy, Chance, Lauren etc. The whole Chance/Abby thing is weird. Not watching every day, has there been a proper build up to this? After the Dominic debacle, Chance and Abby didn't seem to have much to do with each other. What was Devon's motivation- Amanda was out of town and he was horny? And Abby is pissed because Chance didn't come home and she feels neglected? And they get busted immediately... Mishael gets her best scenes as Amanda when she's out the door!

And the timeslot was no help. 11.30 am, halfway through The Price is Right on CBS. When no soap had ever worked in the a.m. With sitcom repeats as lead-in. Perhaps Midday leading into Ryan's Hope ? it leaves you wondering why ABC even commissioned Loving in the first place.

Loving's changes so early in the run immediately gave the impression the show was a losing proposition and that TPTB didn't have confidence in the format. Viewers may not have known or cared about ratings or BTS issues but it came across onscreen. You didn't see Bill Bell retooling early Y&R because of low ratings or Agnes with AMC. . I guess Texas and Santa Barbara did the same to some extent by dropping the Dennis/Dawn romance and SB with Joe/Kelly.

Apparently, Y&R went on location in 79 for the sequences where Kay escaped the burning asylum, wandered through the streets of Genoa City, then finding her way back to the Chancellor mansion. Those scenes were taped in parks, side streets of LA and a Beverly Hills Mansion. Was that Y&R's first location shooting? Can anyone recall other early location scenes?
