  1. Fire Don Hastings??? Please explain! GH was never a family based show in the 60's and early 70's. The arrival of the Webber's changed that somewhat, but the Quartermaines were really the first family with parents and children. That was part of the move away from the hospital as the centre of everything.
  2. Thanks @janea4old Really enjoy seeing those stills again.
  3. From Lily's lips- 'it will be tedious and boring' The show is now blatantly describing the week ahead so we won't have any grounds to complain.
  4. At that stage Cosby was unbeatable and the opposition needed to counterprogram and put up with whatever rating they could achieve. CBS weird lineup was not necessary. Just program and hour Twilight Zone and be done with it.
  5. Kay O'Brien debuted in 3rd place in the timeslot up against Hill St Blues and 20/20, 2 well established shows. Wk 1 86/87 season. On Thursday, NBC's powerful comedy lineup carried the evening for the network. For the night, NBC averaged a 26.5/42, while CBS had a 13.2/21 and ABC a 10.7/17. From 8 to 10, Cosby averaged a 35.5/55, Family Ties a 33.4/51, Cheers a 29.7/45, and the season premiere of Night Court a 26.8/41. On CBS, Simon & Simon averaged a 11.8 /18 from 8 to 9, and Knots Landing averaged a 14.7/ 22 from 9 to 10. On ABC, Our World averaged a 6.5/10 from 8 to 9, and The Colbys averaged a 10.5/16 from 9 to 10. From 10 to 11, CBS's new Kay O'Brien averaged a 13.1/23, while NBC's Hill Street Blues averaged a 16.9/29 and ABC's 20/20 pulled in a 15.1/26.
  6. I think Lucas Adams is doing well as Noah. The character seems more dynamic than what we got with Rory Gibson. I'm questioning why Mitch had to be Matt Clark. So far all they've said is 'somehow Matt faked his death' Credibility is stretched for no reason. Why not have Mitch be a new character- a sleazy dude who isn't thrilled to find out Noah is messing with his wife. Everything could have happened in the same way, with Sharon and Nick trying to find out more about Mitch in LA. Or if they wanted a stronger Newman connection, have Mitch be the son/brother of someone Victor had tangled with-there are a lot of them to choose from. He encounters Noah accidentally and then realizes who he is and sees this as an opportunity to plot revenge. And there is still nothing particularly Noir about this story.
  7. Bridget loves Bernie brings up the co stars who met and married. David Birney Bridget Loves Bernie CBS 1972-73 Serpico NBC 1976-77 St Elsewhere NBC 1982-83 1st season only Glitter ABC 1984 Live Shot UPN 1995 Meredith Baxter Birney Bridget Loves Bernie CBS 1972-73 Family ABC 1976-80 Family Ties NBC 1982 -89 The Faculty ABC 1996
  8. Agree but as the LA story goes on, if recent history is anything to go by, it will trudge along and peter out. See: Aristotle Dumas, Mariah' trauma, Ashley's personality disorder, Ashland Locke etc etc.
  9. @dc11786 Your observations on shows like Rituals and Another Life, which I will never get around to watching fully, are as interesting to me as the shows themselves. So keep posting!
  10. That would have been a good angle to explore but Monty and the writer's were probably ignorant or didn't care.
  11. Thanks @jam6242 That episode aired the week of Jan 11-15 1971,going by the promo for the Arthur Godfrey special which aired Sat Jan 16.
  12. How about Keith D Robinson on BTG? I guess we have accepted him as Ted, but I think a lot of us would have been interested to see how Maurice Johnson would have handled the role had he stayed.
  13. It seems that Barbara Rodell, replacing Lynne Adams, was well accepted as Leslie on TGL .So much so that when Lynne took back the role a lot of viewers preferred the chemistry b/w Barbara and Don Stewart as Mike to that of Lynne and Don.
  14. The Lucy Show went through a lot of changes over the course of it's run but still finished at #2 for it's final season. Lucy would hum and ha every year as to whether she would continue. And then she would decide to stay once CBS offered more money. I have to admit the celebrity episodes were usually my least favourites. Lucy would be starstruck each time, even though she had met most of Hollywood, and the scripts were often paper thin, resulting in Lucy and said guest star singing and dancing for what seemed like half the show.
  15. When we see Tomas show something more, I'll buy into that.
  16. The show is already revolving around characters who have been there for decades and when they get the chance to bring on a new character with no baggage they blow it by recycling Cane.
  17. When Meta married Joe Roberts he had 2 children. Kathy who was Robin's mother and Joey who was written out in the mid 50's. So Meta could have had 'grand children' through Joey. Or they could have done rewrite whereby Bruce Banning found out he had a child and there were grandchildren through that.
  18. Also the show was losing a major portion of the All in The Family lead in each week. The shows tone didn't fit with AITF or MTM that followed.
  19. Really? You know I could respond to things I disagree with in your daily BTG postings, but I choose not to because I honor your right to post them and don't want to part of any negativity. If I did, it would be in a respectful way. I would have appreciated if you pointed out my error re Camryn w/o having to go Mean Girl.
  20. Didn't Laura get a new car gifted to her by her boss at one point, causing Richard to be jealous?
  21. ATWT Patricia Bruder replaced Wendy Drew as Ellen after Wendy, an original and popular cast member, left after 4 years. Pat was popular enough to be there decades later.
  22. In primetime Donna Reed replacing Barbara Bel Geddes on Dallas Karen Cellini replacing Catherine Oxenburg on Dynasty Emma Samms replacing Pamela Sue Martin on Dynasty. They stuck with Emma but she didn't hold a candle to PSM.
  23. SB John Novak was brought in as Keith a couple of years after Justin Deas departed. Deas played Keith for more than 2 years Novak was gone in 6 months.
  24. Of course many of these primetime stars had instant misses when their pilots weren't picked up eg Shirley Jones had at least 2 attempts at a series before landing Partridge Family Out of the Blue. CBS 8/12/68. 30 minutes. CBS Entertainment. Director: Sherman Marks. Producer/Writer: Sol Saks. Shirley Jones, Barry Dennen, Carl Ballantine, and Marvin Kaplan are aliens from an overpopulated planet who come to Earth to see whether or not they should move some of their people here. They befriend a physics professor (John McMartin) living in Hollywood, who helps them under- stand our often confusing world. Dream Wife 1965 Actress Shirley Jones stars as Lisa Michaels -- a wife with a husband, a boy, and the ability to hear other people's thoughts. Whether she's trying to use it to have a better marriage, make her kid happy, and even trying to save other people's lives, she just can't quite seem to get things right. Her TV hubby was Donald May who went on to daytime as Adam on EON.
  25. Camryn Grimes Jan - 11 Feb- 1 March - 12 April - 1 May - 2 June - 4 July - 2 August - 2 September - 2 October - 0 The numbers speak for themselves.
