  1. The thing about Kimberlin Brown is that she is one of those people who will overlook anything as long as they can get tax cuts and be allowed to pay lower wages. I don't think she's a racist like a lot of Trump supporters, but she's willing to overlook bigotry for reasons of dollars and cents. When it boils down, that really is no better than actually being a bigot.

  2. Hanna for once did the right thing. She already judged Katheryn enough, so the least she could do was help her through a hard time. As judgemental as Hanna is, she is the only person Katheryn has.

Benny telling Veronica look at his manhood and let her mouth water was so over the top. The writers may have well had him say Mandingo, because that was just one black manhood waving line as it was.

  3. There is talk that Clinton and Sanders are working out details for a joint appearance next week. Plus, Clinton's campaign shared a post from Sanders' campaign on Facebook shortly after that talk surfaced, so I'm guessing that an endorsement is imminent.

  4. Well, she did lie about stuff, claiming there was nothing classified whereas the FBI chief claims there were.    The republicans are desperate and who can blame them?    They got nowhere with Benghazi, their candidate is a mess...they gotta try something I guess.

Wasting taxpayer dollars on baseless witch hunts needs to stop. Hillary Clinton was not indicted because she didn't break the law. It's time to move forward

Donald Trump is being accused of a raping a minor, yet no one is complaining about that. Shows how biased a lot of folks are.

  5. The immigrants of which the U.K. speaks consists of immigrants from countries like Poland, Romania that tend to have lower wages and perceived limited opportunity even Spain, Italy and Greece where the economies are struggling and people tend to leave just to find work.  The jobs in cafes and as servers in restaurants are the jobs where you're likely to find immigrants from other European countries.  Those are considered low-wage by most British residents and citizens but for a person coming from Greece or Romania where jobs may be scarce, or in Poland where wages are lower, then these jobs are a step up.

Then add in the hysteria about refugees coming from Syria and Iraq (even though the majority of refugees have expressed a clear desire to go to Germany and some have gone to Nordic countries like Denmark, Norway and Sweden that tend to have more generous social-welfare programs).  This is what they mean by immigrants- they are from other European countries.

As for immigrants and 2nd/3rd generation from those former British colonies, a surprising number voted in favor of Leave- I admit, I was surprised when I heard this as I am from an immigrant family from one of those former British colonies.  Here is one example

I forgot to factor in white immigrants, because there is definitely animosity toward them in the UK. What is so ridiculous about said animosity is that the jobs that people cry are being stolen from them are jobs that they would never really take in a million years. In reality, Brexit will do far more damage to the economy of the UK than immigrants from other European countries. The far-right can wreck any economy with xenophobia and hatred.

  6. At 87% White, I cannot see how many of UK's problems are caused by immigrants. The bulk of the immigrants are from areas that were formerly territories of the British monarchy, which happen to be the places where the UK managed to obtain natural resources that bolstered it's economy over time. The real issue is the cutbacks from austerity, which is a terrible economic policy.

  7. Lady Mae has such animosity towards Grace because Grace is the only person in the family who will not look the other way when it comes to the family's mess. The other two children can be shut down, but Grace is just the opposite. It's also apparent that Grace is the father's favorite.

This show has everything that most of these large churches have; money misappropriation, perverts, adultery, closeted men.

  8. Sanders had as much chance as anybody, but he failed to win the Democratic coalition, which is heavily made up of suburban women and minorities. He opted to run a campaign that appealed to only one block of voters and that never is a winning strategy.

  9. This primary finally being over is a good thing because it went on far too long. Judging from that Politico article, I don't see how Sanders really has the common sense or temperament to be President, much less take on Trump. Can you imagine what a nightmare a Trump vs. Sanders race would be?

  10. The media call is definitely not something Clinton wanted, because closing out with the pledged delegate lead is a firm and solid finish. She will still gain the outright majority of pledged delegates tomorrow, but it would have been preferential to have the call made then and not now. The media was anxious to call it anyway, so that's what they did.

  11. There were 40 superdelegates ready to declare, but Clinton wanted them to hold off until after tomorrow. I'm guessing that some of them were tired of Sanders' stunts and decided to shut his nonsense down early.

  12. Tyler Perry's shows saved OWN, so without them Greenleaf wouldn't be on because OWN would have been off the air had the Haves and Have Nots not been produced. Anyway, I am looking forward to Greenleaf.

  13. There is a lot of money on the line for staff and Weaver is probably dragging this campaign out as far as he can to keep on collecting checks. As for Sanders' wife, he did pay her a salary for working on his congressional campaign, so it's conceivable she being paid now and it's possible they are trying to run this out to collect a nice windfall.

When someone falls, most people react on reflex, so it was odd to see Cruz not even attempt to help Fiorina up. I thought it was very rude and disrespectful for him not to go over and at least ask if she was all right.

  14. Sanders loves to repeat over and over how match up polls show him as more competitive against Trump, but the problem with that is early polls mean almost nothing at this stage in the campaign. Trump would seriously move to the center if he ran against Sanders and completely crush him with negative ads (and you can imagine what the Super PACs would do). I would never vote for Trump, but if Sanders was the Democratic nominee, I would sit out the election because his writings are messed up and because he has some racial handicaps of his own.

  15. The black community is still not too accepting.

    As opposed to who?

I'm not saying it hasn't gotten better, but there still are a lot of blacks that do not approve of homosexuality and those people are part of the viewing audience.

I thought the episode took time to explore the more. The scene where Hakeem was ostracized from his family in a moment of grief was terrific.

As for Jamal's sexuality, there probably is always going to be fluidity there to placate viewers who are not as forward thinking. Theblack community is still not too accepting.

the black community? Are we still trying to perpetuate the idea that black people hold some special antipathy for gayness that other people don't?  Give me a break.

If anything, Jamal's fluidity story was the show runners using the character to teach/educate about sexuality. After all, the show did have very high HH share for black viewers last season when Jamal was ONLY into men and having sex onscreen. If anything, they'd stop watching over the anti-God/religion themes running through the show versus Jamal kissing boys

Black people are still more socially conservative than the public as a whole when it comes to homosexuality. When I told my mother I was gay, she fell to her knees practically in tears and she is fairly liberal person. She accepted it after about three hours or so, because we are like best friends, lol. All that aside, it's just my opinion that the writers had Jamal sleep with a woman just to placate more conservative viewers, but that's just me. Perhaps they had other reasons.

There is a different type of homophobia in the black community that is rooted in racist stereotypes in what it means to be a black man and masculine. White gay men do not have the same issues as black gay men.

This show is not that good anymore, it's watchable but I was in the corner shaking like a junkie waiting for every Wednesday night.

The ratings are still huge though. The mid season premiere got a 4.8 Adult 18-49 ratings, towering over everything on broadcast television.

Indeed. It's really hard to be black and gay for the reasons that you mentioned.
