  1. Lots of establishment of the Dupree Family which is to be expected in the first episode. It is clear that Bill and Hayley antagonizing Dani has compounded her anger and that makes her not moving on more understandable as it is hard to move forward with people trying to push your buttons.
  2. I cannot believe we're less than 24 hours away. This is so surreal.
  3. I loved that theme and it's one of my favorites. Martha Byrne's head turn in time with the music was everything. I think a title card is fine for some days (B&B does this) but a full opening adds to the charm of the soap.
  4. ATWT's last opening was just all right save for the fact it left out a lot of characters. And GL never really stood out with openings in it's final years.
  5. Despite sounding somewhat generic I like the theme song. P&G soaps always did have generic sounding themes (save for Another World's vocal theme). But this opening is much more elevated than anything ATWT or GL had.
  6. This is very anecdotal but my mom is going to watch the show and she is one of those people who stopped watching soaps after the OJ trial. She saw Dani punch out Hayley and said, "yes! this is right up my alley!". I think BTG will revive many other soap viewers who have been tuned out.
  7. I responded to a question on one of the Instagram stories and the show shared my response as a sticker. It's the one with Bryton James and Christel Khalil.
  8. The character's background is the perfect setup. There is no getting out of the South Side of Chicago with a child so leaving the child to be raised as an aunt or cousin's child would be the better option rather than to give up a career.
  9. The show is posting stories on Instagram of some of the cast with actors from the other CBS soaps at an event.
  10. I've been to her show twice and it was a positive vibe both times (she touched my sequin jacket when she greeted the audience lol).
  11. Once upon a time Y&R would have been front and center. It's clear that CBS wants to use BTG to promote a refresh for the other soaps.
  12. It might be representative of the realism that gay Black professional men choose White partners.
  13. The special showed that this show was not just thrown together and was carefully planned. All the attention to detail is very wise because Black communities are very steeped in history and cultural symbols.
  14. Officially just a week away from the premiere and that is so exciting. I'm about to watch the special after that Kingdom Day parade wraps up.
  15. That make sense. It is dramatic but in a very sleek way.
  16. It might be some other music, but in the Instagram stories there is some music playing when the cast is applauding at the end of the screening and that might be the theme song. It sounds very much in the TV theme genre.
  17. That is my thinking too. I can see Hayley being shellshocked when she catches them together and ending up on the other side of adultery.
  18. What I was caling crap is the extremist misinterpretation of it. not DEI itself.
  19. Can we not get into DEI crap? Giving the far right more attention is not what we should be doing.
  20. Phyllis' old stalker ways were showing when she left Billy all those voicemails.
  21. In Los Angeles General Hospital is on at 2 pm so it will be up against Beyond The Gates, but I don't think it will necessarily be a competition because at this point a new soap is going to help the others just by boosting the genre. Those actors from the other shows showing enthusiasm know that the publicity of "soap operas are still alive" is good for the genre as a whole. When you're in a genre that has declined you can't afford to compete because competition isn't really a factor like it was 30-40 years ago.
  22. That "When are you going to learn your place?!" could have come off very wrong, but considering it was coming from Jill is was pretty much just par for the course. Jill is disrespectful to everybody she doesn't like.
  23. Of course it makes sense to protect the copyright, but in a way they should be glad that anyone even wants to impersonate the show. It's surprising anyone wanted to do that in the first place. They could have just had the clips taken down and not released this corny letter.
  24. A decent amount of recurring characters is a great idea. That gives the opportunity for the writers to create a variety of different interactions and story potential.
  25. That's exactly what it is. That low level troll is mad he isn't making it and it especially burns him up to see a Black woman have her ideas brought to screen. YouTube is full of Black woman hating Black men.
