After seeing Bell in multiple interviews I don’t think I see him as some “monster” but he was a very candid person from what I’ve seen; I could see that off putting to some not use to that style, especially with Bell being from Chicago. I’m quite sure while Bell could be mellow he was definitely not one to be messed with; I recall that when EB and PB were feuding in 1992/93 Bell personally stepped in and threatened both of them, as someone put it in an anecdote “he showed them who the real diva of Y&R was”. Sally Sussman? I figured Bell adored her. Years and years ago I remember reading an anecdote that Bell felt betrayed by Sally by not only getting his blessing for her to create a new soap but also by the fact the new soap would would directly compete with Y&R in the 12:30ET slot. But I don’t know if that story is true or accurate at all. It sounded eerily similar to what happened between Johnny Carson and Joan Rivers. In any case I imagine any hard feelings were eventually forgiven as Sally eventually made her way back to Y&R in the early 00’s. LOL I do wonder when Irna said that Bell…I have to think that was after AW’s rocky first few months. I’m glad Kay remembered some good times about Reilly. I always thought Reilly definitely learned a lot during his time on Y&R. I’m curious about how Trent Jones came to Y&R and why his eventual HW stint didn’t work out/just petered out.

I’m quite certain Canada is actually 2-3 days ahead of the US at the moment lol. Adam and Victor tossing empty threats? Boring as hell. As for that Diane spoiler I’ve it posted in SOD and other sites around a lot that Phyllis and Nikki go too far with whatever scheme they have this time. Apparently Nick and Sally will have scenes the week of July 25th.

Agree to all the above! I like your ideas too. I get the feeling we’ll get Ashland and Diane eventually but I hadn’t considered Ashland and Phyllis. That would be downright juicy for the drama and conflict it should create on paper, but know JG’s writing and MS’ acting it would fall flat on screen.

LOL I think there’s good reason why I find Ashland to be more rootable for than any of those Newman hypocrites lol. Just wish there could be additional Locke kids in the mix but the story has been written all over the place.

Allison Lanier as Summer. Stafford has a few decent moments but her acting tics are in full extreme mode.

There’s good reason why I’m starting to FF through all the Newman scenes except for Nick and Sharon. Same old same old garbage. It would be more interesting if the show would actually have them actually actively competing against Chancellor-Winters for actually getting scoops, tips, interviews instead of what we’re seeing. The Abbotts and anything Imani related is where it’s at currently but that’s only because three actresses are carrying the weight of show’s dreck at the moment.

Like @DRW50 was saying this part of 1990 is an oddity during a transitional period…Bob & Susan’s affair, Margo’s mercy killing of Casey and Brock & Emily were the highlights and the show won an Emmy for it but both Shannon’s death (and her shrunken head) along with John & Lucinda’s divorce left me in the cold. Watching this it’s interesting to see we already have the setup for Darryl, Gavin, and the Harpers in play. The AK Paul and MS Emily scenes leave me feeling nostalgic but also sad knowing their short term fate. Of course 20 years later Paul and Emily got their happily ever after, LOL but I have no nostalgia for Howarth and KMH by that point. Tonio feels like an outdated Falcon Crest character.

So let’s see here, Chloe has stolen money from BFF Chelsea, kidnapped BFF Chelsea’s son Connor and ran off with him for weeks, shot BFF Chelsea’s husband twice, tried to run him down, blew him up in a cabin, faked her suicide in front of BFF Chelsea, aided an obviously mentally ill BFF Chelsea to kill Rey, and well has deceived BFF Chelsea on other numerous occasions that now we should feel bad for Chloe for Chelsea severing all ties to her? Couldn’t happen to a nicer sociopath like Chloe. Yesterday’s Phyllis/Diane scenes were a highlight though. About time to see Diane gloat back in Phyllis’ face while staying true to her personal agenda at hand.

Charlotte yes I think that’s it. Lol she was supposed to be some trusted colleague of Marlena’s but she also secretly hated Marlena and wanted John for herself. What a strange story to end J&M’s time. I think the major issue at the time was Ava was not long for the show as she was responsible for Grandpa Shawn’s death. She could have been a long term vixen but it typical Hogan Sheffer fashion she was written into a corner from the get go. They tried to explain it away with her being tricked into a drug addiction by her father to cause her paranoia but it didn’t work. I barely remember Nicole being friends with Ava when Nicole first returned to town, but that was quickly replaced by Nicole and Chloe putting aside their past rivalry to become friends in their fight against Victor.

LOL I see it’s time for the annual prison break with Orpheus leading the way 😂😂😂 I think the writers strike and then firing of Sheffer in favor of Higley’s return is where the writing got muddled. It seemed the Vitali’s were just a DiMera stand in that were written out when Mascolo returned. Ava was also close to EJ during the original run as well but it hasn’t been brought up again either. I was surprised back in 2015 the show even brought Ava back, especially after TB endured being a recast for the insufferable role of Taylor(major yikes!) Not sure what the plan was as J&M’s final story before their exit was the two of them dealing with the psychiatrist who was secretly obsessed with John herself and trying make John hers. I forget her name except she was played by Sandra Ferguson of AW fame.

Woah, MAJOR snooze fest today. Except for the Imani scenes of setting her plan into motion it’s all FF material. I suppose Chance and Abby appeared to remind us that they still exist as does Dominic lol.

I love Christie Clark but I could never see her as Victoria. Sarah Brown might’ve worked but she had just came off that disastrous ATWT role. I think I was most intrigued that one one of actresses who applied for role of Victoria was the actress who played the crazed Ali McIntyre on Days.

AH has always been a miscast for the last 17 years and running, but then again the writing has also for the last 17 years has been very poor as well. Under Latham it was decided that Victoria should be some romantic heroine and the character has floundered ever since. AH is better written as an icier, bitchier character and does well when written as such but Victoria has been written as such a weakling. But Idk, I guess after enduring AH for 17 years I’ve had to learn to tolerate her lol. But when AH Victoria and Nina had their chat about Ryan and Cole in the 12000th episode and AH looked devastated/haunted at the mere mention of Ryan’s name, I had to wonder what could have been. I am actually surprised no one has ever thought to bring Cole back as a love interest for Victoria, even during the MAB era.

It will be interesting to see this plays out. Phyllis is already losing it and on the verge of a complete breakdown while Chelsea is definitely emotionally unmoored but hasn’t gone completely off the rails yet. I wasn’t sure if the show was going to keep Ashland around or not but I hadn’t heard any news that Newman is leaving yet but it’s nice to at least have a snake in the grass villain in town again.

LOL lord I doubt it would get that bad but then again maybe we’ll see Newman and Jabot move their HQ to LA just so the can film outdoors for be cheap. Speaking of Newman ya the ping pong of who is going to run Newman is getting old, and I’m glad Nick actually made the point of how the constant CEO changes will affect public opinion along with shareholders opinions, something that rarely gets brought up with these internal power struggles. Tessa’s medical crisis is horribly written PSA material.

I was thinking of when the country started to go downhill and yeah it was the early 00’s. Oh don’t get me wrong I knew there was issues in the 80’s and 90’s but that was really the first time I was absolutely disgusted and appalled with this country as a whole as everyone fell line behind Bush and his ilk as opponents were silenced.

What no Deacon reunion with Nikki and Diane? 🤣

5 years is a long time these days I can’t even imagine what Y&R would look like in 2027 if it’s still on the air.

Same it’s a shame they haven’t fleshed out the Benedict family more…I mean have we even seen Naya’s husband/Imani’s dad? I really don’t remember now except maybe once..? Yeesh. I feel like there could be at least another Benedict sibling. Yawn. Predictable. FF material. I think a revenge story could work, with Ashland having Diane by his side but Victoria would need an equally strong male partner to fit the bill, something the show doesn’t have to offer at the moment.

6-23: Again Diane, Summer, and Imani were the driving force for the show today. I loved the pivotal moment when Imani overheard Elena talking on the phone about going to be gone for a week as the wheels clearly were spinning in Imani’s head. Allison Lanier as Summer has been such a breath of fresh air and I like the more mature edgier take she has as Summer. It’s interesting to see Lanier hold her own against Stafford. Just as Summer was unamused and unimpressed with Phyllis, I get the feeling Lanier is completely unphased by Stafford’s ramping up her acting tics. It really does make it look like Phyllis is the batshit crazy one here. Phyllis and Michael scenes were hilarious though. I don’t think either Get it On or Hot Enough For You were bad campaigns overall, just maybe a couple had a few cringeworthy moments that got overblown looking back. Hot Enough For You I think was fairly successful as it also came at a time when Y&R, B&B, and ATWT were on a creative and ratings upswing as the three rounded out the top 3 soaps in the Nielsen ratings that summer. Other than the lousy GL performance I was neutral on the song. I don’t think the singer ever enjoyed the same success his sister got though.
