This is my summary for Friday May 26th, 1995. Unfortunately I believe this recording of mine was either cut off or disjointed (Jeremy apparently went running at some point!) but there's enough here to do a write-up:c -Dani comes home from school and is greeted by Ellen. Dani wants to rest but Ellen tells her she has guests over and Emily, Jeff, and Nancy come out talking. Nancy is thrilled to tell Dani about the newest Hughes family member, Jeremy Wheeler. Dani looks nerved. Nancy and Ellen bring in tea and coffee and doughnuts. Jeff asks how Dani's schooling is doing and Dani thanks Jeff for all of his help on her schoolwork. Jeff asks Dani's about how she analyzed happy families in a book she read, and Jeff invites her over to read Tolstoy. Ellen and Nancy are thrilled over Dani's success. Jeff thinks Dani should be working at a higher level, but Emily says girls her age don't want to be smart. Ellen and Nancy talk about how Dani has no friends and has had a rough life. Jeff proposes to Ellen that Dani enroll in Oakdale Latin. Dani is trying to pretty up when Ellen tells her about Oakdale Latin but this gets Dani upset. Dani insists she is happy with her life and has friends, she doesn't need Jeff's help. -Meanwhile Jeremy is unpacking his stuff at Tom and Margo's house. Margo surprises him by saying she's taken the day off to spend time with Jeremy. Margo hopes to discuss with Jeremy about his mother's memorial and funeral arrangements but Jeremy storms out only to be stopped by Tom, who also has taken the day off to spend with Jeremy to his digust. Kim comes by as well to offer her well wishes and gives advice to Jeremy and reminisces with Kim about his mother, but after Margo brings up the memorial again he storms out. Tom and Margo are confused over what to do about Jeremy and ask Kim for her advice. John comes by and discusses his the lawsuit with Tom, Margo, and Kim. They give him their support and Tom tells John just listen to Jessica. Jeremy comes back and says he filed for summer classes. They try again to bring up the memorial service. Jeremy remains adamant about not having the memorial service, which Kim asks why. -Lucinda and John are having lunch. Lucinda is gushing over Luciano's birth and how he is named after her, but John seems very down and depressed. Lucinda then gives John a pair of rose-colored glasses(LOL!) and John starts bemoaning about Lisa's lawsuit against him. Lucinda gives him support but John's still worried. No one at the hospital seems to be supporting John's side and he's fearful of the tactics Lisa's lawyer, Ric Hamlin is going to use. John is also upset that Hamlin has subpenaed Andy from that night because John and Andy had a fight in the ER the night Eduardo died. Lucinda gives her full support to John despite John asking her to stay out of it. John believes there is a mole working in the hospital against him. That mole is revealed to be Larry, who gives an earful of testimony to Ric Hamlin and tells Hamlin this is the truth about that night. -Damien comes by the hospital to bring Lily and Luke home, but Lily is seriously down and asks Damien if everything is actually okay. Larry comes in and agrees to discharge Lily but notes Lily isn't producing milk for Luke to get plenty of nourishment with so he's adding a supplemental formula, much to Lily's dismay who thought her nursing was going well. Damien(who has a gigantic bandage on the side of his face) assures Lily everything is fine and he has set up the house for their arrival. Lucinda greets Damien and Lily at home with the baby. After the welcoming celebration calms down, Lily tries to confide her troubles to Lucinda but she's in a rush to leave. Lily remains down. Emily calls the house asking to give Damien a message to tell Connor about the change on the quarterly reports. This causes Lily to have a flashback to finding a piece of jewelry in a drawer. Lily starts to look again for this but Damien comes in and asks what's she is looking for.

You're welcome. I don't remember any of this Jeremy stuff either although I found it fascinating it was a contention to Tom that Hal was trying to have involvement with Adam. I believe it was the following year when Adam learned the truth, ran away and fell down a well to be saved by Ryder. Jeremy of course was Dawn Wheeler's son and after she died Tom and Margo became his legal guardians per Dawn's request. He was involved with both Nikki and Dani and left for college in early '96 I think. The writers for this ep where Juliet Packer Law, Garin Wolf, and Richard Culliton and Valente was EP by this point.

Here I is my summary of the Friday, August 4th 1995 episode of ATWT with a lot of action going here: --Mike shows up at Rosanna's and invites her out for a very special date alone which Ro accepts when Carly barges in coming home from work at the Yacht Club. Mike gets rather hurt and tries desperately to shoo her out but Rosanna graciously sits down with Carly to talk. Rosanna tells Carly she's was impressed to hear that Carly donated $1500 to the new children's unit at the hospital. Carly says she did it from the bottom of her heart and wants to to help people worse than her, it makes her feel better. A sarcastic Mike pretends to be impressed. When Ro inquires if this was money from her earnings at work, Carly says no, it came from the trust fund Rosanna had set up for her. Ro tells Carly it's a good gesture, but she doesn't want to see Carly use that money like that. Instead Ro insists Carly to save it and use it to live the life she never had. Ro also asks why Carly loaned money to Julie for her trip to see her daughter. When Mike tries to pry into why Carly really loaned the money to Julie, Carly pretends to have a breakdown. Carly tells a sad tale of how she is envious that Julie's daughter has a mother who wants to see her. She goes off on how she resented Rosanna at first but now just wants to make a sisterly bond. Ro stars crying crocodile tears and wishing life had been to fair to Carly, a sister she has always wanted. Mike stands silently annoyed and appalled over the sisters' love fest. Ro steps out and Mike asks Carly what kind of games she is playing now. Carly says she is not playing any games and can't the two of them just get along? Ro comes back and tells Mike she doesn't want to leave Carly alone for the night. Carly says she can plan something for the three of them. When Carly steps out, Mike stays stick with the plan and pushes Ro out the door leaving the apartment WITHOUT telling Carly. As Mike and Rosanna share a candlelight dinner on the rooftop, a disgusted Carly vows that Mike has still not won. --In Malta, Damien and Lucinda deserpately race to cliff side screaming Orlena and Luke. It seems Orlena has taken a drunken stumble off the cliff. Damien brings up Orlena who is clutching a letter in which Orlena has written that Lily has kidnapped Luke. Damien immediately contacts the authorities and the entire island is now on alert for Lily's escape. Orlena is taken to the hospital and her the outlook after her fall is not good as she barely clings to life. Damien and Lucinda argue over Luke's safety. Lucinda believes in spite of Lily's recent mental condition she would not do any harm to Luke. Damien believes otherwise and blames Orlena's accident on Lily as well. Damien wishes Lily had been under better observation and he thought she had been improving but a disgusted Lucinda says Lily was never crazy to begin with. Orlena is given her last rites. Damien arranges for his organization to start a man hunt on Lily. As Lucinda prays in the chapel for Lily's safe return, Damien sits by Orlena's side vowing vengeance on Lily, saying she will be very very sorry. --At sea, Mark, Lily, and Luke are hidden amongst cargo storage on a merchant ship. Mark explains only the captain, an old pal of his, knows they are on-board and no one has seen them except for a couple crew members. Lily feels relieved as she is finally fleeing from Orlena when suddenly the ship stops. It's the Maltese sea police stopping ships looking for Lily. Mark hides Lily and Luke in a crate as the captain and a couple of officers come down into the cargo hold. Mark says he has seen nothing while the captain stays cool. The officers start inspecting and nearly discover Lily and Luke but don't. Just as the officers are about to leave, Luke cries out, causing the officers to rush back and start smashing crates open. Mark quickly saves the day by saying the sound they heard was actually a rat, and lies to the officers the ship has a huge rat problem that they don't want to get out to the public. The officers seem convinced and finally leave. Lily is thankful to Mark for saving the day, but says they are still not out of danger for Damien's men probably already await their arrival in Rome. Mark tells Lily he has the the best escape plan up his sleeve. --Back in Oakdale, a huge fight is occurring at Tom and Margo's. Jeremy tells Tom and Margo that Hal has someone tailing him. Hal doesn't deny it, Jeremy is right he having Jeremy followed because Jeremy has information that he needs on a girl. Tom is furious and threatens to slap Hal and the police department harassment charges. Hal says Jeremy is a threat especially to Adam. Tom says Adam is *HIS* son not Hal's and that Hal doesn't even live his own family so why bother theirs? Margo tries to be the voice of reason between the two but to no avail. Jeremy flips out and leaves, and Tom then tosses Hal out. Jeremy goes out for a moment and runs into an angry Nikki. She wants to know who that other girl Jeremy is seeing is. Jeremy tells her to meet in the park later, but an eavesdropping behind the wall Hal hears this. Tom and Margo cool down, discuss John, Lisa, and Scott briefly when Jeremy comes down and tells them he's going out to a late movie. He leaves and Tom and Margo say its pretty obvious he's lied. Margo suggests following him but an angry Tom tells them that would be no better than Hal and why on the earth would Margo side with him. Margo gets and leaves angrily noting the whole family was falling apart with the way everyone has been acting. Jeremy and Nikki meet at the park but Nikki doesn't want to hear any of it and runs into the street. Jeremy is about chase after her when Hal comes out of the shadows. Suddenly car breaks are heard screeching and Nikki is heard screaming as Jeremy and Hal watch in terror. I'll try to summarize more episodes that I have.

Thanks for that pic of Bond Gideon, she's gorgeous and looks strikingly familiar. Can't put a name on who she resembles though. What an unusual name as well. We talked about 1997 earlier up and I've summarized below an episode I have from Friday, February 21st 1997. Not too much going on here either, but it's pretty notable in my collection for featuring a TON of characters and also has the original Grace, Josie Davis in this ep: --The Newman's minus Victoria with Tony and Grace have gathered at the hospital. Victor and Nikki fret over Sharon and their unborn grandchild's condition in the aftermath of Sharon's slip on the icy path. Josh comes out and annouces they will be running tests on Sharon and the baby to make sure everything is okay. Josh confides to Nikki he doesn't know for sure one way or another. Grace comes to Sharon's beside and assures her everything will be okay and Sharon thanks Grace so much for being a great friend. Sharon has an ultrasound and much to Nick and Sharon's delight, the baby appears to be fine and they discover that it is a boy. However Sharon is still bleeding and Josh tells her there are complications that could arise should she carry it to term. Sharon then asks, will my baby live? Grace is seen eavesdropping through all of this. --Neil wakes up, reaches over and realizes Dru is not there. Neil calls Olivia and tells her Dru never came home. Neil walks around out of the bedroom and finds Dru cooking breakfast and playing with Lily. Neil is a bit peeved as Dru explains she came home from work so late she slept on the couch because she didn't want to wake up either Neil or Lily. All is starting to be okay when suddenly a frantic Olivia barges in asking if everything is okay. Dru tosses Liv out and argues with Neil over her work life and what a wife she should be. Neil leaves for work, and Olivia comes back with little Nate. An excited Dru reveals to Liv she has gotten a new gig that could be a big break for her, but Olivia is disgusted. Malcolm drops by to see Neil and prys into Neil's problems but Neil shuts him down, but does say he's worried about growing apart from Dru. Little Nate and Lily are oblivious to all of this as they play with a cute puppy. --Victoria is at Newman/Jabot and is writing a letter. She the finishes the letter, writes in big letters RYAN on the envelope and leaves it on his desk. Victoria calls Victor asking about Sharon and informs him she's leaving town today. Victoria then calls Cole to come by which he does. Victoria tells Cole that she has a packed a bag and will be leaving town on a trip. Cole is shocked and asks up whats going on. Victoria says she just needs some alone time to find herself. The two discuss the distance in their own marriage, and Victoria says she just needs a little getaway trip to find herself before making any decision on the future. The embrace and kiss as a reluctant Cole tells her he'll be waiting as she leaves. --Kurt comes downstairs at the Chancellor residence and tells Katherine and Esther that he will be having lunch with Ashley. A thrilled Katherine gives him a prep talk and informs him that she's brought him new clothes. Kurt is appreciative of Katherine's kindness to him but is also nervous about seeing Ashley. Meanwhile in the Jabot lab John stops by to see a jittery Ashley. Ashley tells him that she is going out to lunch with Kurt for the first time since he told her about his past and is nervous about it. John cautions Ashley not to get hurt. Jack and Diane barge in and announce they have set a wedding date. Happy small talk ensures until a flustered Ash runs out saying she is going to be late. Both Kurt and Ashley meet up at Gina's, and Kurt is surprised but thankful Ashley has actually shown up. Ashley starts asking questions about Kurt's past, but strikes a nerve as Kurt tells her he's isn't ready to talk about it all. While Ashley is away, a mystery man comes up and both him and Kurt recognize each other. The man apologizes to Kurt about his wife and child and gives Kurt his card to call him anytime. Ashley comes back and asks if everything is ok. A nervous Kurt tells her it is. A pretty blah blah blah ep mostly really. I've seen a date before that is was Heather Tom's exit ep when she left in 1997 but a lot of sources I've seen say it wasn't until April. Alrich took over after that. I can't recall myself. If this was it, she was still only gone for about six months.

I think for me ATWT went all downhill the moment being the plane crash there in what early 1996 when Damien was "killed", Sam was blinded and Margo got PTS from. I remember being pissed at Damien's death because it was a WTF moment, right after he and Lily had finally found some happiness and peace. The show was still decent with stuff like John vs. Lisa and Carly/Mike/Rosanna but there was more WTF moments. Like Kim's car being bombed. Or Lisa and the Chinese smugglers. Or the intro of Zoe and Sarah. Soon it was all just one big clusterf*ck. What exactly did Klein write during her short stint as HW? I never liked any Damien's returns by the way. The '97 return I was excited about but know I'd like to never speak of it. His '06 and '09 returns pretty much were destructive inside and out. If anyone can explain to me what the whole '01 return was about ie Holden's Malta Misadventures I'd be happy to hear it now because I certainly didn't get it then. Caleb and Julie went through a lot of drama after getting married, first it was Julie's kids being dumped upon her which was okay but eventually it dissipated. The stuff with Carly was a side show at best. Carl, I know you've said before about not liking Shannon's return story, but I was wondering how you felt when the show killed her off, and in the manner in which they did--shrunken head and all.

That article makes me sad. I absolutely loved ATWT as kid circa 1990-1995. I think 1994 was good with the Holden/Lily/Damien stuff as well as Orlena and Hans the terrorist with Lily's kidnapping, plus Janice's meltdown and then all of Julie's problems building up until they burst. Um, one thing though I don't remember Jason/Iva being a big deal. I recall multiple actors playing Jason Benedict and really didn't care for any of it aside from Lucinda's intense jealousy of John being with Iva. Too bad they never brought around John's son M.J. except for a brief time for Parker's custody case. He would have been related to Lily and Dusty too.

Hey yr9190 I do have a couple episodes from August 1995 that I mentioned I've always thought about putting up on Youtube. They're alright, nothing too much going on in any of them. The one I mentioned earlier up I have dated to Friday, August 4th 1995 and goes like this: -In the aftermath of Matt's shooting Nick is in jail and Sharon is begging Nick to let her go to police to tell them about Matt raping her. Nick says not to otherwise it would give him motive to the police. Nick learns Matt is still alive and not dead as previously thought. Victor brings in Mitchell Sherman and John Silva to represent Nick, but Nick doesn't budge in telling the truth. Victor tries to break Sharon into telling him why Nick would shoot Matt but fails. In the meantime Matt is comatose barely alive, barely hanging on and remembers hearing gun shots. In the meantime Amy is wandering the streets disorientated. -Nikki is a HOT mess and shows up at the Newman Ranch desperate as she's just found out about Nick being in jail. In a hilarious scene, Hope tosses Nikki out, berating Nikki for being MIA in the crisis and for being mysteriously absent for the past couple of days with no way of getting in touch. Nikki barks back why does she even care and Hope declares that as Nick's stepmother she most certainly has the right to have an invested interest. Nikki finally leaves for the police station, only to come face to face with Victor demanding where the hell she has been. -Brad shows up at Newman and dismayed to find Jack in Victor's chair. Jack is less than thrilled with Brad, apparently being absent too for the last couple of days(connect the dots to the above) and is conducting business as usual, including closing one of Brad's important deals that's been working on. Brad is furious with Jack. Jack says every ship needs a captain, but Brad declares this ship has two captains. -Oh boy, here's the bulk of the episode. Nina is preparing to leave on a week's long trip to Toronto for a writing convention, but is feeling uneasy about leaving for so long. She stops by at Ryan's office and asks Ryan if he wants her to stay but Ryan encourages to keep her plans saying it will be good for her and of course he'd call her all the time. Sweet talk between the two occurs. In the meantime, Cole is dismayed to find a stressed Victoria awake and working(on a VERY old looking laptop too!). Victoria says with all that is going on with Nick she needs a distraction and to catch up on work. Cole tells her to take it easy and to take the day off and Victoria is about to agree when the phone rings. It's Jeri Paulsen, Cole's apprentice. Victoria snatches the phone away and hangs up on Jeri. Her and Cole bicker about Jeri being a threat with Cole spending all that time working long lonely hours with her and her constant calling of the house. Victoria announces to Cole she needs to take some paperwork to RYAN to obviously Cole's disgust. Victoria shows up at Ryan's office just as Nina is leaving and the two share a very awkward moment with Nina telling Victoria she's sorry to hear about Nick. Nina then leaves and drops off Phillip IV/Chance at Flo's and confides in her mother that she is most worried about Victoria and Ryan working together while she is away. Ryan and Victoria share some small talk over Nick's arrest and the toll its taking on her. Just as Nina confides her fears to Flo, Victoria asks Ryan if her ever thinks of what life would be like if they were still married. Ryan says he doesn't, he's married to Nina and she's married to Cole. She kisses him on the cheek and leaves. In the meantime, Cole calls Jeri back and apologizes for before. Jeri, looking at a picture of Cole asks to set up a lunch date with him which he agrees too.

Here's a story time forgot; one of my Y&R eps I have from August 1995 in-between Matt's shooting and Brad/Nikki hookups Cole and Victoria had the strangest story aside from Victoria secretly desiring Ryan to Nina's disgust. Cole keeps getting calls from a young infatuated blonde tart writing apprentice of his who's obviously unstable and fixated on Cole but he's clueless. Victoria keeps calling it like it is but Cole keeps brushing her off. LOL I seem to recall this girl was a total nutjob wasn't she? I remember watching this play out but its rare it ever gets mentioned in any past summary. A minor footnote in the grand scheme of things.

Whew I've been so busy I haven't posted on SON in a good minute. I think Bell could pull off thrillers like Jill's Shooting, Brad in a Cage, George Rawlins murder, Marge, Sheila, David Kimble etc. because it was in my opinion a good formula mix by having them being slow paced and more character driven yet when the time came he could write the most explosive twist to keep the story fresh and going ie Lauren is buried alive, Brad stuck in the cage to die, David having the word KILLER carved into his forehead, Jack steps on and walks out on a dying Victor, April stabs Robert etc. Bell could grab your attention and for the most part it never felt like a cheap stunt. Michael's redemption worked because it was very slowly paced over time and it was years before he could fit comfortably into regular Genoa City society even as late as 2003/2004 he still had this issue. Oh and unlike Kevin he actually felt guilty and showed remorse, although I certainly didn't agree with Michael and Christine getting engaged.

Thanks, I forgot about the Soap World site. I always forget that Wendy Moniz was on that cover. I loved Moniz especially '97-'99 but I wonder why ver Dorn and Kinkead didn't make that cover. I'm not surprised a Lucy and A-M cover was a low seller. They tried so hard 1994-1996 to make A-M and Lucy into a super couple. The Brent/Marian story was great but otherwise they were on the dull side of things especially post Brent/Marian. There was that ridiculous Universal Studios wedding which only saving grace was it being crashed by Phillip. It was more of a 2000s problem of GL not getting any SOD covers except for a rare occasion.

I believe Gwen was the sister of Mitchell Sherman if I recall right. I've seen clips and eps online of Jennifer Leak as the hysteric psycho Olive on AW so I wonder how she was on Y&R in a completely different role. I believe there was also a another actress who played Gwen as well. I've always been curious of how Victor and Jill would have worked in the long run. Not too long ago I was reading a piece on Y&R from I believe late '92/early '93 criticizing the scenes, with the author dismissing them as disgusting and didn't want to see Jill wasted.

One of the few things I appreciate from Gold's tenure as HW was the Billy/Holly/Buzz triangle. Taggert had started on Ed and Holly but of course Conboy and Weston dropped the ball big time there. I do give Wheeler and Kriezman the credit to making everything almost right with GL's ending with Ed and Holly together, Fletcher and Alex, Bridget and Dylan etc. Even though I hated the couple, we really needed a Fletcher and Holly scene though. Zimmer looked good up until about 2005 or so, after that then she literally took up the whole screen.

I do apologize to you Paul as I was mistaken in who posted those photos. Thanks! I nearly made a snarky Susan Batten joke there... I actually enjoyed Dunphy and I think she was better than Schulenberg. Dunphy worked well in my opinion as the funny, clever yet airheaded schemer. I do see your point though about the absence of vets, which why I did like the story of Nancy helping Alison out to impress Chris to woo him back.

Heh my mom and I use to joke about Emma's small ancient refrigerator and how on earth she could keep something that small for a big family like the Snyders. Thanks for those photos Paul! Kim actually had two big stories that year, the first one was her heart surgery that overlapped with the Who Shot Diego story. I have a couple episodes I taped from back then, one with Kim's surgery while Holden and Lucinda were locked in the wine cellar while another is about a week after the wedding Lily's arraignment taking place, Margo having blackouts, Mike and Lucinda trying to convince Pilar to stop changing her mind about her dead brother, and quite possibly Allyson Rice-Taylor's last ep as she tells Cal she thinks Mark killed Diego in revenge for T. Jones' death. Diego! T. Jones! Actually the increasingly horny teen I was I thought Diego was hot, too bad they transformed him from the town's super shady guy into some supervillian terrorist extraordinaire. It was the most unbelievable stretch to make Diego be really Umberto himself, and the of course the story ended so badly as well.

It's funny that the Lowells simply were merged and absorbed in the Stewarts, as the Stewart clan itself got merged/absorbed into the Hughes pretty much. No men to carry on the name, but that does happen in real life all the time. I've heard Judge Lowell in 1979 was to what Ellen was in 1995. I'm surprised the show never brought back any Hughes family related to black sheep John Hughes. If I recall right from my readings/studies(lol) the actor who played John Hughes was the 2nd Mike Karr on Edge of Night but his name escapes me at the moments. What was Lisa's mother Alma like? I've heard she was sort of like Ada was on AW.

Thanks! Hal and Barbara were for me a couple that I grew to like. When I first started watching I always thought Hal and Barbara were kinda boring. I thought Barbara was more fun with Evan and the sort and it irked me they got back together even with Jennifer's birth. I liked the faux stalker story though even if it caused them to split up again. When I truly came to appreciate them was when they got back together in the late 90s and restored and renewed their relationship after going through all the hassles over the years after being separated. I have no words for the disgust and disappointment when Barbara left Hal for Craig. I liked Hal and Emily as Hal seemed to having a taming effect on Emily but they were unfortunately backburned too quickly. Emily virtually had no story between the spa and Alison's discovery of her conception in 2002 and her affair with Chris in 2004. A shame because Emily really self-destructed after that, and yet much like Barbara and Carly, Hal still deeply cared about Emily. It's a shame we lost Hendrickson the way we did he was a terrific actor so long underrated. In spite of his average appearance he was a great leading man and was a natural fit for Dolan, CZP, West, KMH, and even Marie Masters.

I wonder what would have happened if the 90-minute format had actually succeeded. Ninety minutes does sound like a long time but given how NBC was in dire straits with scatterbrained management in 1979 I guess that's why it was green-lighted. I've seen the first two 90-minute episodes featuring Olive burning down Alice's house and killing John in the process and they weren't bad, but in a way they felt more like 90-minute specials. I know the St. Croix story was critically acclaimed and got some ratings but I've heard the subsequent Mitch Blake "murder" and Rachel's trial was horribly written and so unwatchable it was one of the reasons so many tuned off AW in droves in 1980. I'm surprised no soap ever tried a two-hour special like primetime.

What did you guys think of Gary and Josie? I liked the pairing and enjoyed the 2nd Gary and 2nd Josie although I felt the cliched affair with Cameron and the death of Gary Jr. were completely unnecessary. I'm er not sure why Amy Carlson left, she later temped as Harley on GL and Gibbs was allegedly "stolen" away by Jill Farren Phelps if I recall right(she made him a better offer at another soap). AW was always background noise for me so I didn't mind Jake and Vicky too much but looking back now the pairing was a bit of a stretch. I remember they were AW's "supercouple" on for the Macy's Thanksgiving parade on NBC Daytime's supercouple float they had that year along with John&Marlena, Bo&Hope on Days and Ben and Meg on Sunset Beach.
