I've rarely heard of anything like this. Wow. Has this happened before?

This movie was getting a big push for Oscar hype so I guess that's one of the reasons why they're going this route (and Ridley's had a few flops lately so that's another reason).

Christopher Plummer is a good choice.

Now Jeffrey Tambor is being investigated:

It's being reported that Plummer was Ridley's first choice to play Getty anyway, but the studio wanted "a bigger name," forcing Spacey on him. Funny how it all "worked out" in the end...the makeup job on Spacey for the role looked ridiculous.

  2. Another insane twist to the Kevin Spacey fallout.

Ridley Scott plans to completely cut Spacey out of the already finished "All the Money in the World," recast him with Christopher Plummer, and completely reshoot all of his scenes.

The film is set for a December 22 release, and Scott is determined to have the film finished and ready for that date. Which is CRAZY.

Anyone watching the Nextgen year end tourney?

I'm not watching but apparently you can only watch on Amazon Prime? TC has been hyping this all year, and you can't even watch on their network? #MajorATPFail

  4. Spacey sounds absolutely unhinged. That journalist's story of KS screaming at him is just astonishing.

By the way, the executive who groped Terry Crews has been identified as Adam Venit of WME. He's the agent for Emma Stone, Diane Keaton, Adam Sandler, and, notably, Dustin Hoffman and Brett Ratner, among others. He's now on a leave of absence.

  5. It's funny. ABC, The Daily Beast, and Reuters all played into the deflection, touting stories like "Kevin Spacey comes out in emotional tweet." Only after Twitter backlash did they change their headlines.

It just makes you realize how much celebrities and their PR minions could get away with before social media started keeping journalists honest.

    Spacey's response:

Spacey's orientation has never been much of a secret, but I know most gay guys thought he'd never come out. His only hope now is to try to turn this into a tortured coming-out narrative, but that won't help because there are going to be more. His predatory behavior is no secret either. He'll be in a sex rehab facility or something by the end of November.

I wonder how Netflix will handle this. There will be intense pressure for them to cut ties. A very tricky situation for them.

It's just that you don't seem to be. You took the time to click on an article (if you didn't actually go so far as to seek it out) that is about the new Dynasty. Then you got so upset about it that you had to come on to a message board to post it and bitch about it. That doesn't sound like ignoring the show to me.

I read Vulture. I saw this, thought it sucked, and brought it here since I'd spoken about the show in the past. That's pretty much the extent of it.

Actually, people have been asking for a new DYNASTY for YEARS! Some people wanted a reboot, some people wanted it to move forward with a younger generation of LB, Danny, and Krystina but, yeah, just about everyone was clamoring for Dynasty to be back on TV.  It's already been renewed for Season 2 so unless you find a way to come to some sort of peace over this new version of Dynasty, you're in for a rough couple of years.

Lol. I'll be fine ignoring the show like most other viewers.

The poor producers of that show. They're damned if they do, damned if they don't. I didn't love the show - could only watch the first half of the first episode. But that's because I have a very strong attachment to the original. This isn't the original. It's a new show - made for today's audiences. It's not for lovers of the old Dynasty. We all need to move on.

That's the problem. It fails both as an homage AND a show for new audiences. It's anachronistic in so many ways but tries superficially to feel new and oh so 2017. No one was really asking for this, and the poor producers knew what they signed up for.

Oh, come on. Did you read the article? They were given 15 seconds to do an opening and they tried to pay homage to the original WITH ONLY 15 SECONDS.  What would you have done with your 15 seconds given to you by the network? How would you have created a better opening sequence?  Please post your example below.

I just don't think it was worth it. It looks cheap just like the rest of the show. Give a title screen that provides a hint of the old theme and run the credits over the following scene like all the other primetime shows.

  11. Agree with most of the praise. Some of this is because of the low expectations after the dismal last few seasons of the initial run. But it is sort of settling into becoming sort of a latter-day Golden Girls, but gayer (if that's possible).

I am finding the Grace/Karen interactions less appealing than the Will/Jack ones. They don't seem to be as able to mine comedy from them. The shower bit from the second episode and the sexual harassment of the male assistant fell flat for me.  That's not a diss on Debra or Megan, who still find ways to shine. The third episode with the focus on Grace and Harry Connick Jr. (hate him) was zzzzzz.

Andrew Rannells is sexy, as was shown on Girls. He deserves his own adult-oriented series where he gets to be naked as much as possible. Like a Queer As Folk-type vehicle.

Eric McCormack looks great, and he's owning the gayness of the role much more now. For me, even more than Sean (who we all knew was brilliant), he's the revelation in the reboot.
