  1. And Kalinskaya just retired against Rybakina. So many retirements this tournament, notably in the past couple of rounds.
  2. The rain hasn’t helped, and just today we had back-to-back injury retirements from Madison and Grigor, but you don’t like Sinner or Alcaraz? Obviously, two great players don’t make a sport, but at least they’ve been consistent and give newer players something to chase. Mpetshi Perricard also seems promising.
  3. Aw, Dawn. How sad. Only 61. https://deadline.com/2024/07/dawn-hollyoak-dead-great-british-baking-show-contestant-1236002317/
  4. If there are language/cultural barriers, they are more easily overcome when the content is simpler. That’s not a secret. Not that complex series don’t travel at all, but it’s one reason why Hollywood has shifted much of its strategy as markets globalized. That’s not an insult to international audiences. They tend to prefer character-driven content that’s locally produced generally, as Americans do.
  5. This show is so elementary-school. Actually, there are shows made for children that are more complex. I’m sure it helps international audiences understand what’s going on when everything is so blunt and schematic. Carter standing there like a lump as Paris discussed her wedding dreams just shows how little the show regards either character. Neither is written as a full person.
