  1. Daniil isn’t going to crumble like the other guys, and Novak looks as discombobulated as his 2017 self. Down two sets and broken to start the third… it’s over.
  2. He shouldn’t have played those damn Olympics. Hindsight. Got a little greedy. Disappointing. In any case, he’s had a great year, win or lose today. He just needs to not soil it with self-destructive behavior.
  3. That was a shaky first game. Scratch that, shaky first set…
  4. That was a pretty nice reception for Novak on Ashe.
  5. I’m assuming you enjoyed the early-to-mid-2000s (with Clijsters, Henin, Venus, Serena, Capriati, Davenport, early Sharapova in the mix), or do you literally mean the late ‘90s (when Steffi was still playing)?
  6. Ok, that was a looooong time ago lol.
  7. Drake is looking like he’ll have 11 of Billboard’s top 12 with just tracks from Certified Lover Boy. Dude’s a streaming behemoth. He’d have 54 top 10 hits total if these predictions come to pass, 16 more than Madonna, who now has the second-most in history.
  8. When was the last time the women’s tour was exciting for you? I thought 2018-19 had potential to start some new rivalries with Sabalenka, Osaka, and Andreescu coming up. This tournament was the most exciting it’s been in a while IMO. Last year’s USO semis with Osaka/Brady and Vika/Serena were also wonderful. Men’s tennis has some interesting new players, but it’s not yet exciting again to me. Intriguing, maybe.
  9. Yeah, I thought about that too. Trying to figure out a way to hop on the surging Leylah train through the Commonwealth ties. I don’t remember them embracing the far less charismatic yet equally Canadian Milos Raonic as much when he beat their god Federer and played that Wimbledon final against Andy lol.
  10. Wow. I didn’t even think about this lol. Just 40 points but still lol.
  11. I’m aware of it because I follow pretty much all of the guys on Instagram lol. (They provide lots of good material for the Daily Hotness thread.) Bolo and Skyh Black have been posting a lot about it. Seems like it’s better than that Vivica A. Fox garbage Chocolate City that aired on BET a few years back.
  12. Yeah, it’s way too much too soon. Just calm down, folks. It’s a weird national inferiority complex, among other things. And where there’s money to be made, they won’t hold back. She’s a super lucrative commodity now, and like you say, ticks a lot of boxes that make her an object of fascination as well as potential scorn. She’s not a Brit, but Leylah may have dodged a bullet by not winning just yet.
  13. I’m seeing that Emma might get an MBE or even an OBE (two steps down from being a Dame) for her USO title. These Brits go apesh!t for their sporting stars, especially in tennis.
  14. Actor Arjit Taneja from India 🇮🇳
  15. This one from Minnesota and Florida 🇺🇸
  16. Yeah, she had a panic attack during her match against Tomljanovic at Wimbledon and retired. The Queen has congratulated Emma: And William and Kate:
  17. Leylah’s sister looks ready to throw hands. Leylah’s nod to 9/11 in her speech was perfect. Wow.
  18. The British press are going to build Emma up just to tear her down. How they went after Jo Konta will look innocent by comparison.
  19. I know. It’s unfortunate. I’d still be pissed, even if I couldn’t do anything about it. It’s a sucky turn of events when Leylah had all the momentum.
  20. It’s just unfortunate. Leylah still looks PISSED. I would be too.
  21. IMO Leylah is gassed right now and is playing an opponent who isn’t intimidated by her (or scared to lose to a teenager). Emma also takes a lot of her time away.
  22. Emma drew first blood. I want this to go three sets. No one gives a fück about Tim Henman. Why are they talking to him in the middle of play?
  23. This is fun stuff. They’ve had each other’s numbers. They haven’t wanted to talk much about each other in interviews or be too warm and fuzzy. A sizzling little rivalry. Leylah’s problem solving is top notch. Chrissie is spot on. They just want to beat each other.
