  1. I hated that character so much. Laurel lacked a POV when she was played by that very weak blond model/actress. When La Fortune stepped into the role, the character became worse. She turned into this mousy, boring person who made my eyes roll every time she was on screen.
  2. Oh gosh Laurel and Felicity LaFortune were annoying!
  3. So am I reading into this correctly? Was Megan McTavish jealous and threatened by Agnes Nixon and her writing?
  4. Anyone now if this is a contract role or short-term?
  5. Also, despite the fact that there are a multitude of TV platforms now (broadcast, cable, streaming, etc.) the trend is to hire "movie" stars for those jobs. Effectively, "TV" actors like Kim Delaney are being overlooked in favor of big name actresses like Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep.
  6. I hope she lowers her expectations. She's not going to get the kind of quality scripts she was getting in the 1980s.
  7. I never thought I would see her on a soap again (outside of any All My Children reprisals). Daytime is probably a step down for her given all her primetime success (and the almost rebooted NYPD Blue that did not get picked up), but glad she is employed.
  8. I just feel like most actors, unless you're a veteran, would not have access to Frons. It's probably not Rayfield because in the clip the male executive said that he'd put Chadwick in touch with the writers.
  9. It is disappointing, considering the fact that this is All My Children, a soap opera that Agnes Nixon created that brought us one of the most popular Black couples in all of TV (Angie and Jesse). Who was the executive that Chadwick was referring to? Chadwick referred to him as "he." Who would that have been?
  10. I just watched Cedric Boseman's scenes as Reggie. Wow, that character was so different when he played him. So much older. The show de-sorased him when Michael B. Jordan was cast.
  11. She should totally do it. She's the right caliber of stardom the show looks for.
  12. I don't think this version of Adam would have lasted for as long as Adam did. He's creepy, on the verge of psychopath. The writers definitely softened him (just a tad) over the years.
  13. I want to say Jenny was slightly older than 18. But yes, young love was so different back then, and I don't think the 80s audience batted an eye when these characters talked about making babies.
  14. This clip of Adam is sooooooooo creepy! He was a darker character back in the 80s. The music at the end gave me the heebie jeebies.
  15. Wow, I didn't know this. So cool!
  16. I wish the show had brought back Linc to try to rebuild the Tyler family.
  17. I think it was at the Emmys. ETA: Not at the Emmys, but at at RPG's HGTV show premiere. https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/actors-robert-newman-and-susan-lucci-attend-the-spontaneous-news-photo/161394147?uiloc=thumbnail_more_from_this_event_adp
  18. Reason #3 as stated above. Don't ask for details because those are convoluted.
  19. Robert Newman as Caleb Cortlandt. Caleb had potential but was played by a very stiff actor. I remember seeing a photo of La Lucci and Robert together, laughing backstage, and there was definitely chemistry between the two.
  20. I don't know. I feel like Agnes and Claire are almost "too much of a good thing" that it would not work. Incidentally, why didn't Claire's son and or daughter go on to head write any show on their own? Did they not have any interest?
  21. I was also impressed that they remembered the John Remington character. I thought it was weird though that we only got one flashback of him and it was the back of his head. I'm wondering if the show couldn't get the proper clearance to show his likeness (probably because it was an old ABC contract that didn't have those waivers in place at the time).
  22. There's only a handful of ways to write back from the dead stories. Either 1) the person has amnesia 2) has been held captive 3) has to stay away from family in order to "protect" them. The third one is probably the lamest of them all because from a critical reason standpoint, the argument tends to fall apart when you evaluate the claims made by said dead person.
  23. I'm not sure who put this Agnes Nixon video together and for what occasion, but there are some nice tributes, especially by Susan Lucci. It looks like Susan taped her part on the set of Devious Maids; I remember that dress from the show.
  24. All Her Children is such a great book. I remember reaching out to Dan Wakefield about 15 years ago (around the time Megan McTavish returned for her last run) asking him if he still watched All My Children. He said he hadn't watched it in years but "might" tune in again to see what was going on.
