  1. I'm sorry, but I don't buy she was duped. She might have done it solely for the cash, sure, but duped? Didn't you read the script beforehand? Then again, I haven't seen the documentary, so I've no idea what she said.
  2. Just say it, Mr. Howard: you're embarrassed to be on a soap opera.
  3. Thanks, Carl, for posting this interview! I wish Denise Alexander had stayed longer on ANOTHER WORLD. Under better circumstances, she might have been another tent-pole character. She certainly had the charm and personality to be that sort of character. However, Mary's backstory just seems so convoluted and ridiculous.

I realize her own show was a failure, but I think Jane Pauley might make a good replacement as lead moderator on that panel if -- and only if -- she had the right mix of co-hosts to work with. She was what she was on "Today," after all, b/c of the chemistry she shared with everyone else (Bryant Gumbel, Willard Scott, Gene Shalit, etc.).
  5. I think we have our story for the "Who's the Boss?" reunion movie.
  6. For some reason, Denise Alexander looks like she is wearing a wig in that photo.
  7. I've heard that as well. Supposedly, Brian Frons asked her back, but she refused, b/c she did not want that headache.

As a (man who lives with his) mom, I do think "The View" needs to re-invent itself if it wants to stay on the air. The show needs to stop with all the tabloid-chasing nonsense and get back to its roots as a serious (or as serious as one could get in that particular format) and thought-provoking talk show led by a panel of competent, informed women. "Miss Celie & Friends" ain't it.
  9. At the time, "Annie vs. Reva" seemed like a very exciting story -- or it was, until TPTB got drunk on the whole thing. In retrospect, though, it seems so odd that such a JER-esque tale ever occurred on GUIDING LIGHT.
  10. Yes, and yes. Robert Foxworth chose to leave in order to care for his future wife, Elizabeth Montgomery ("Bewitched"), who was battling her first round with cancer. Reportedly, Foxworth was supposed to be gone only for a year. Obviously, though, plans changed.
  11. I remember that. It occurred in the S6 finale, the same one where Melissa drove her car into SF bay (w/ Maggie's baby on-board), Chao-Li collapsed while trying to help Emma, Chase disappeared in the waters after rescuing the baby, and Angela learned (via a letter from Peter Stavros, who had departed from the valley) that Richard was the son she believed had died in childbirth. I don't recall exactly WHY Emma was attempting suicide (I tend to block out a lot of the silly [!@#$%^&*] she did over the years), but I do remember it was Lance who talked her down at the start of the following season.
  12. Unfortunately, thanks to the tension between Turner and Jane Wyman, neither Turner nor Jacqueline Perrault were long for FC. Which is shameful, IMO, b/c I think (if Turner had been persuaded to remain on the show) Jacqueline/Richard would have made an awesome combination against Angela.
  13. Pretty much.
  14. Believe me, Earl Hamner, Jr. still can't believe he created it either.
  15. I wish I had never seen "Single White Female" in the theater with my father. Not only was the movie not good, it was just too embarrassing to watch it with him. (Amazingly, though, Papa Khan didn't "freak out" or anything. God bless you, Dad.)
  16. FC has its' (extremely devoted) fan base...but no. FC never hit number-one in the ratings like DALLAS and DYNASTY did. In fact, some have described it as a "time-slot hit" based on the fact that it followed DALLAS Friday nights on CBS.
  17. Oh, I loved how ANOTHER WORLD used that song in their final episode, especially the line "Let the world stop turning" or something like that.
  18. I remember the Dr. Gilda article. I thought it was silly to have any pop psychologist "analyze" MP's characters. First of all, they're not real people. Second, this is MP we're talking about. Anyone who isn't one-dimensional need look elsewhere. I remember, too, when Heather Locklear was receiving praise up the wah-zoo for her work in the TV movies "Shattered Mind" and "Texas Justice." Even then, I was asking what kind of drugs critics in Hollywood were ingesting to come up with such rubbish. Theoretically, a cancer storyline is "good." Again, though, this was MP. The pacing and style of the series, along with the vapidity of the characters, just couldn't support such a deep and emotional story, IMO.
  19. IMO, Wagner is too in love with himself to be generous with his partners, both on-screen and off.
  20. Is she still with the model who played the David Grant recast on GUIDING LIGHT?
  21. Oooh, can I answer this one? Please? I always thought Marcia Cross (Kimberly) and Laura Leighton (Sydney) were the show's biggest assets, cast-wise. Neither needed to do anything more than enter a room to get your attention. Unfortunately, aside from perhaps Thomas Calabro (Michael), MP's male actors never rose to the challenge. Jack Wagner (Peter) was...a'ight, but Andrew Shue (Billy) was so damn wooden that he left splinters in my TV set.
  22. I know you're not saying that to me, b/c when it comes to me and Mama Khan, I'm actually the more prudish one, lol.
  23. I'm pretty sure Lana was talked about on the show.
