  1. Thanks, MissLlanview!! So do I. IMO, Trevor Noah, and not Larry Wilmore, should have been the one whom Comedy Central dumped. No offense, but I find Noah to be ill-equipped to handle satirical or political humor. IMO, it isn't. People like Tomi and Milo have always had a presence on television, but they used to be confined to local and public-access shows, daytime talk shows (usually during sweeps, whenever Oprah, Phil, Geraldo or Sally Jessy would bring on the race-baiters) and syndicated, late-late-night stuff like "The Morton Downey, Jr. Show." Most understood (or seemed to understand) that those were fringe personalities at best and totally not suited for the more "respectable" network and cable shows that aired during prime time. Gosh, how I miss those days.
  2. It's times like these when I hate not subscribing to HBO anymore. Is it up on YT yet? Granted, Maher is not necessarily one of my favorite people. Nevertheless, I live to see anyone rip Borat a new one. And they will probably remain that way for life. Lord knows I don't want another Holocaust to happen; and I want Congress and the wiser citizens of this country to stop the current administration before we reach that point. But, in a way, another government-sanctioned holocaust seems almost necessary for the most complacent and ignorant ones out there to see what happens when pure, unadulterated evil goes unchecked. Holocaust survivors have warned us over and over to "never forget," but it seems as if we have done just that.
  3. Why was Petraeus on the list at all? You're mad about people leaking to the press, so you hire someone who got in trouble for mishandling classified info? That's wonky even for TrumpCo.
  4. And the GOP thinks the Democrats need to move on?
  5. I agree with all of this. Of course, having Pence succeed Trump as president comes with its own risks. However, I think we've seen enough of "President Trump" to know those risks would be minimal compared with what we are dealing with now.
  6. You noticed that, too, huh? Is Fox News giving up on Trump? Given their obvious political slant, and the fact that propagandists like Lou Dobbs and Sean Hannity remain on their payrolls, you wouldn't think so. But, like I said upthread, it's amazing how quickly the wheels have come off this wagon; and I think even Fox News, as an organization, is starting to question whether an administration that's been hit so hard and so early can make it the next four years. IOW, I don't think Fox News is ready to throw in the towel just yet on Trump, but I DO think they might start hedging their bets sooner rather than later.
  7. Wait a minute -- FOX NEWS is reporting this about Flynn's Fateful Phone Call? Why am I surprised that Fox News would report about this? I mean, I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am.
  8. I'm still surprised the figurative wheels fell off TrumpCo.'s wagon so quickly.
  9. Apparently, Rupert Murdoch won't watch FNC either. Otherwise, Shep would have been fired the first time he criticized Trump.
  10. That's one fact I keep coming back to. This government is one the GOP has been jonesing for. If and when they screw up everything, they will have only themselves to blame.
  11. Ironically, the America that Trump THINKS we are will end up being, in many ways, the America he will leave behind. Yep.
  12. My theory: the IC has declared war on our (and their) own president, so they are lobbing every figurative grenade they can in the hopes of turning public sentiment against him (which won't work on Trump Nation) and forcing Congress' hands into launching formal investigations (which might work, eventually). Like someone said upthread, the FBI, CIA and other intelligence agencies are capable of the dirtiest tricks imaginable...but those dirty tricks might be what the rest of this country needs if we have any chance of putting an end to this circus once and for all. I mean, I would not put it past the IC to dig up, even as we speak, information on people like Bannon, Miller, or even McConnell and Ryan, in order to blackmail them into turning on Trump; or to make covert deals with other intelligence agencies around the globe in exchange for whatever dirt they might hold on Trump or his minions.
  13. Those were my thoughts as well. To me, it seemed like Bannon, Miller and others from TrumpCo. weren't trying too hard to defend him or deflect the controversy. IOW, they saw him as a liability and therefore expendable.
  14. In a way, it would be a blessing for Congressional Republicans to become so bogged down with Trump's many (and I do mean many) scandals that they have little, if any, opportunity to push forward their nasty agendas. As it is, the more they wave away demands for probing into Russian and other matters, the more the situation grows; and the more it grows, the uglier it's all gonna get when it DOES explode.
  15. The "Oprah tape" is just another sign of how surreal this administration has been for everyone.
  16. I wouldn't get my hopes up for impeachment. As long as the GOP can push their destructive agendas through Congress, they won't touch Trump. They'll just keep picking off his minions, one by one, in the hopes of containing him.
  17. Except off-brand toilet paper doesn't chafe your ass nearly as much. Just ask the men who've had sex with Miss Pence.
  18. Dear Sophie Trudeau: Watch. Yo'. Man. Sincerely, Khan
  19. I'm pulling for you and your mother as well, DD. I just cannot believe this will be our nation's legacy with that simpleton as president.
  20. These days, that doesn't say a lot. Man, those anti-vaxxers need to go somewhere. Like Julia said, their idiotic beliefs will wind up hurting innocent people in the end. I'm afraid that's where we are heading, too. Mark my words: a bunch of people are gonna die from some heinous [!@#$%^&*] that was supposed to be eradicated from the planet eons ago. And all because of a bunch of bored, stupid soccer moms who'd rather believe some myth about a parent whose kid "caught" autism after his vaccinations than believe the medical and scientific communities (who, in their minds, are being paid off by...somebody). Thanks to Betsybug, though, more kids will end up in charter/religious/private schools or will just be homeschooled.
  21. Yep. Best analogy ever. EVER.
  22. LOL!!
  23. Agree. I watched the "American Experience" documentary on the OKC bombing and it was...scary. The far-right, extremist, white nationalist militia movement that sprang from Ruby Ridge and Waco -- made up of people who are essentially anti-government and pro-guns and who believe body counts are the only way to get people's attention -- is essentially Trump Nation today. Agree. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I've had it up to HERE with "change." From ALL sides. If what we're living through now is the result of people (allegedly) wanting "change," then I want a candidate who promises normalcy and "politics as usual." Bill Clinton (at least, I think it was Bill Clinton) said it best: "It's the economy, stupid!". Whoever runs in 2020 needs to remember that.
  24. Was it during W when we got those dumb rebate checks? I remember the WH advising us to put those back into the economy and people saying, "Screw that, I'm paying bills with my check!".
  25. Why is that? Does it have to do with trickle-down economics? Because, it seems to me that cutting taxes for the wealthy doesn't guarantee that the wealthy will spend more in order to boost the economy overall. If anything, I think the wealthy stay wealthy (or become even wealthier) because they don't spend.
