  1. Um...so...that happened. But Jonelle Allen looks FAN. TASTIC. Someone get her ass over to Y&R. STAT.
  2. I will admit that (judging from what I've been able to view online) the Corringtons lent to SFT a Southern-ish flair that doesn't appear in any other HW's work. I mean, if you didn't know better, you'd swear (with all the faux accents, French-sounding monikers and wild plot turns) the show was based in New Orleans. Having said that, I MUST know: were the Corringtons' responsible for that godawful song Steve Kaslo wrote for Liza? "You Can Love Again" (or whatever the [!@#$%^&*] it was)?
  3. The promo for AW was just about the most underwhelming one I've seen yet. How was THAT supposed to entice viewers into watching the show?
  4. I wouldn't even go THAT far. Ellen Wheeler was/is an excellent actor (although, her Marley on AW was sort of boring -- although, that's probably more of a writing issue) and that's it.
  5. Beverlee McKinsey was an asset to ANY show she worked on, but (based on what I've seen online) I agree with Soaplovers: given more time, TEXAS might have become a much stronger show. Pam Long's stuff was/is great to watch.
  6. You know...I watched some of Jill Lorie Hurst's work...and it was okay. But the show had become so painful to watch, I have a feeling viewers tend to praise her work, however faintly, because ANY thing would have been an improvement.
  7. From what I understand, though, CBS got rid of SFT, because P&G wanted the network to return the show to its former timeslot, even though SEARCH's ratings were improving in the new, later slot. IMO, SEARCH would have left the airwaves sooner or later, if only because I question whether the show would have withstood losing Larry Haines and Mary Stuart. (Hey, I loved Jo and Stu, but they weren't going to live forever.) But I DO think the move to NBC, caused by P&G's obstinence, hastened its demise by many years.
  8. Ellen Wheeler could have had a HW'ing triumvirate with Bill Bell, Douglas Marland and Agnes Nixon and GL STILL would have become a mess. She just couldn't produce for [!@#$%^&*].
  9. Well, it's to be expected when you have half-wits and nincompoops working under you. Just ask Nixon.
  10. From "I Have to Dream" to "I'm Gonna Make 'Em an Offer They Can't Refuse".
  11. Ugh, Michael Swan. There's something that's just so cheesy about that guy, you know? I wish they had made him lose the accent at some point, too. As Othello would say, his Scottish brogue was "false as Hell."
  12. If SONY were smart, then they would launch a subscription service that allows online users to watch old episodes of Y&R and DAYS. But, as someone suggested upthread, doing so would remind folks that today's soaps are abysmal.
  13. That "5th grade" comment IS the best way to describe this administration thus far. I just hope whoever was in charge of the meeting handed out Jolly Ranchers or Pepperidge Farm goldfish to the group with the best ideas.
  14. AMC was becoming so dark and ugly by that point in Megan McTavish's first run. Stories like the Carter Jones saga were just SO sensational (in a bad way) and watching scenes with characters literally yelling each other did not help.
  15. I feel like that was a very calculated move, on the part of Long and Paul Rauch, to go after the GL audience once they realized they would never lure away GH fans permanently. If they had been successful, I think they would have phased out a lot more of the Capwells and other, existing families in favor of earthier families like the Walkers.
  16. Oh, there was so much I wanted to see on GL's finale...like Rick Bauer (Michael O'Leary) getting involved in a car accident, hovering between life and death, reuniting with his two moms, Leslie (Lynne Adams) and Maureen (Ellen Parker), in Heaven; and then, coming back from the nearly-dead to his grateful family and friends. But anyways. Y'all were saying about ATWT?
  17. I've read that the New Stailand storyline was intended to be satire, but I'm not sure I buy that.
  18. Agree.
  19. Sorry, I was referring to Katy Tur's tweet (which Josh Marshall retweeted and Vee has shared upthread) which said that Fallon and Jeff -- uh, I mean, Ivanka and Jared -- were one of two factors making things bad for Bannon at the WH. They're still morally bankrupt people, but if they're making Bannon's life hellish in any way....
  20. For once, I am on Javanka's side.
  21. Even as we speak, I'm starting a GoFundMe to hire a whole fleet of physicians and personal trainers for the Justices. I better NOT see so much as a fried chicken leg or Krispy Kreme donut in either one of their mouths.
  22. Exactly, Wales. Syria's just another part of the shell game.
  23. Agree. As much as I adored GL, if I had to choose which PGP soap to revive, I would actually choose ATWT, because so much of it had remained intact, despite all the years of bad management. Which is definitely more than I could say about GL. To put it all another way: ATWT's cancellation was premature...while GL's was a mercy killing. Pure and simple.
  24. It was both. SuLu preferred working with Nicolas Surovy (Mike #1) and she didn't care for Michael Woods (Kent #1) OR Lee Godart (Kent #2). Barbara's redemption was probably one of the few things I enjoyed about the last year or so of ATWT. It just broke my heart to see what Sheffer had turned her into. Heck, I didn't even like the idea of Douglas Marland turning her briefly into a rhymes-with-stitch. I just never saw Barbara Ryan that way. Yeah, but...Henry was just so...fey. Know what I mean? Like, it made Barbara look more like a fag hag than a cougar. If she was going to end up with any man, younger or not, it needed to be someone who came across as being more masculine. [!@#$%^&*], even Casey would have been more palatable to me. Oh, no. Stephen Black and Henry Stern will always be ATWT's worst HW's. I, too, commend Noelle Beck for offering to step aside and allow Martha Byrne to finish Lily and Holden's story. I know some might wonder why NB stayed on anyway after Goutman refused to bring back MB, but as I see it, it was better to have those final moments (such as they were) between Holden and Lily with SOMEone as Lily rather than Lily suddenly disappear for the show's final weeks.
