  1. We left the day our electoral college let us down and allowed you-know-who to become president.
  2. Well, Trump and his base can rationalize anything they want, however they want, lol. Unless I'm proven wrong, though, I have a feeling the state of Texas (and maybe Florida and Louisiana, if Hurricane Irma makes land) will end up needing help from outside the U.S. as it rebuilds, which will DEFINITELY put a chink in our country's collective, "America First" isolationist armor.
  3. Mexico might as well send aid, since I doubt our current presidential administration will. But, in a way, it seems appropriate for the very people Trump disparaged to come to our rescue. Because, after all, karma IS a bitch, is it not?
  4. Has this been posted already? If it has, then I apologize. But ICYMI: DOJ: No evidence of Trump Tower wiretapping Reuters reports this as well
  5. Yep. And I love it.
  6. At the start, Kenny and Ginger were supposed to be the requisite "young marrieds," but it seems as if Gary and Val's presence made Kenny and Ginger redundant. Which is why I never believed that David Jacobs created KL with Gary and Val in mind. I think he more-or-less grafted them onto his original vision because CBS was looking for something to spin off from "Dallas."
  7. Neither do I. Hillary would have known how to handle this. Obama would have known how to handle this (and did, thanks for the reminder, DD). Hell, even RICHARD. F**KING. NIXON. would have known how to handle this. And when even one of us can say, unequivocally, that RICHARD. F**KING. NIXON. would make a better leader at THIS point? With the threat of nuclear war so close to us that we can literally smell it? You KNOW this whole experiment in having a non-politician run this country was the worst idea ever. If we live through this, I never again want to hear anyone talk anymore about "shaking up" Washington, D.C. For God's sake, give us business as usual, PLEASE. Nor do I want to hear any more talk about how much worse it would be to have Miss Pence take over. (I know you weren't one of 'em, DD.) Seriously. No more. As Auntie Maxine Waters says, as soon as we're done with Trump, we'll get Pence. But now, more than ever, we have to get Trump's ass out of there, and we have to do it fast. This is not a game, people, or a drill. Screw the damn voter base. Trump is literally on the precipice of getting us all blown to kingdom come.
  8. "A screaming comes across the sky..." And it all might have been avoided, I think, if so many of us hadn't fallen down the rabbit hole that was Hillary's e-mails.
  9. And Kelly is out the door in 3, 2....
  10. You would think so...except, he pulled this same [!@#$%^&*] before going through with pardoning Buford T. Justice. Frankly, if I were a Dreamer, I wouldn't unpack my bags just yet.
  11. AFAIK, too, Trump has yet to sign that check. That's what I mean when I say I doubt TrumpCo. will offer Harvey victims much help in the end. I have a feeling the state of Texas will be pretty much on its own and that that will DEFINITELY slow rebuilding efforts. What Trump wishes he could do to Comey or Mueller right about now...
  12. I don't know whether to blame the public's fascination with the Donald/Ivana/Marla triangle for what we're suffering through now, if only b/c it seems like pop culture has always been obsessed, to one degree or another, with the sordid, private lives of public figures. Johnny Carson's acrimonious divorces come to mind, as do all the innuendos that surrounded the British royal family from Charles and Diana's wedding onward. To me, it might be more appropriate to say the public fetishization of Trump that began in the glitzy '80's, starting, perhaps, with the publication of "The Art of the Deal," is what is responsible for today. Without that, I don't believe the D/I/M triangle would have had as much of an impact.
  13. IA. Either she would become a bitter vamp, as you've described, NBA, or she'd have been a self-righteous shrew (think DAYS' Maggie). But, you know, one reason why I think soaps are dying is because "normal" characters like Carol have been tossed aside for seemingly flashier, more neurotic ones. TPTB don't realize that a good soap opera requires Carol-like characters as part of its foundation. Otherwise, where are the "normal" characters for the others to play off of, and for the viewers to relate to?
  14. Exactly. For those who NEED it. And there are those who DO need it, whether due to disease, or injury. But I don't think JPS needed it. I'm probably wrong. However, I just can't put it past this administration to end up doing little-to-nothing to help the Harvey victims or the local law enforcements' recovery efforts.
  15. Could this be The Bloop Heard 'Round the World?
  16. But what do you want to bet (no, not twenty bucks, lol) that if and when she DOES find her way onto the $20 bill, she'll suddenly be sporting a "Just for Me" perm, a nose job and Jada Pinkett Smith-esque cheekbones? It's easy to see why: the GOP couldn't come up with anything passable, and people are so used to Obamacare that not having anything at all just isn't feasible.
  17. Don't be surprised if they swap Harriet Tubman with George Wallace (and no, I don't mean the comedian).
  18. Report: Trump To End DACA
  19. He's echoing the title of my new book of essays, "They Shoot Black People, Don't They?".
  20. AFAIC, those "Women for Trump" deserve whatever they get. It's just a shame the REST of the women in this country have to suffer with them.
  21. Trump's Shrinking West Wing My takeaway: Vee might be right -- Trump hates being president.
  22. Save some for me, won't you? Just another example of the "very fine people" on the alt-right. Conservatives STAY cracking down on racial and ethnic minorities. They always rue the day someone decided it was a good idea to let us uppity n****rs sit at the front of the bus.
  23. Trump Wants Tariffs
  24. Antifa wouldn't last five minutes in those places before community members kicked them out of their neighborhoods. "We're tryin' to honor Dr. King by staging a peaceful protest," they might say, "and then they bring THEIR triflin' asses in here, tearin' up [!@#$%^&*]. We ain't got time for that mess!"
  25. It's that old expression, "They mean well, but...". I don't want to repeat marceline (again), so I'll just say this: I have a tough time dealing with ANY group that encourages its members to disguise themselves, regardless of which side of the proverbial fence they're on. To me, it's creepy af...and, if I must be honest, it's cowardly, too. Say what you will about the Black Panther Party, but from what I recall, those guys hardly ever cloaked their faces so that you couldn't tell who was who.
