Well, I do, lol. If there is a God, and I believe there is, then I cannot imagine He would be too thrilled about that list.

Election Day is a month away, though, so I think it's very important to keep this and other atrocities foremost in people's minds until then. We cannot let Trump distract us with more inane b.s.

Well, it better. If even fat, lazy heffa me can get off MY ass and register to vote, no one -- AND I MEAN NO ONE -- has any damn excuses. Not. One. Welp. I'm going ahead on and posting this message I’ve been sitting on and revising for the past several days. No, he hasn’t been officially confirmed, but come on, who are we kidding here? Anyway. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Are you surprised that Brett Kavanaugh has been confirmed to the Supreme Court? You are? Really? Wow. I won’t pretend I didn’t see this coming. I saw it coming. I always see it coming. It’s part of the Evil That White Men Do. But, if you’re like my mother, and you wonder why more women don’t come forward about being sexually assaulted or harassed sooner, or at all — well, now you have your answer. Christine Blasey Ford could’ve produced grainy, videotaped footage that corroborated her testimony, and all the zippers that sat in front of her and “listened” to her story still would’ve believed Judge Kavanaugh over her. And Judge Kavanaugh could’ve entered the hearing like a roided-out pro wrestler (which he kinda did), flipping tables and smashing in people’s faces with metal folding chairs, and they still would’ve said, “This man is ready to serve on the highest court in the land.” And please, don’t get me started again on the FBI “investigation” that was about as thorough as taking one of those sex quizzes in Cosmopolitan magazine while you wait for your doctor to see you. (Is it even an investigation when you don’t interview the victim OR her alleged perpetrator(s)? Seriously, don’t get me started again. Just don’t.) It’s a sad day when Justice Clarence Thomas’ 1991 response to Anita Hill’s accusations against him is seen as a model of human restraint. But, that’s where we are, ladies and gentlemen, in the year of our Lord, two thousand and eighteen. It’s also sad that Professor Ford, herself a picture of grace under pressure as she spoke, had to endure that sham of a hearing, when everyone knew going in that those men’s minds had been made up from the moment “President” Trump presented Judge Kavanaugh as his nominee. Again, though, it’s just the Evil That White Men Do. To Judge Kavanaugh, to the senators who voted for him nevertheless, and to all perpetrators of violence against women and others everywhere, know that reckoning comes to everyone. If it doesn’t come from the courtrooms or the ballot boxes, believe me, it’ll come from someplace else. (Oh, and Brett? Any man who has to get [!@#$%^&*]-faced just to approach women is gay. All the beer-drinking cliques in the world will never change what you are. ACCEPT IT.) To Ashley Estes Kavanaugh, I pray your beautiful daughters never come to you and admit they, too, have been victims of sexual violence. And if they do, I pray you will believe them a lot more than that roomful of men believed Professor Ford. (Also, your husband is gay. But, I suspect you knew as much already. ) To the women who branded Judge Kav’s accusers as liars and worse, who saw him at HIS worst, but who still believe that a “good man” has been unjustly persecuted, begin emancipating yourselves from mental slavery. (Thanks, Bob Marley!) You might be cool with everything that’s happened to this country since Trump took office, but the rest of us aren’t; and if and when we do kick that man, his minions and followers to the proverbial curb, we’re gonna make double sure you join them. So, wise up. And to Professor Ford, to Deborah Ramirez, to Julie Swetnick, and to all women everywhere who have been harassed or assaulted by those who are supposed to respect and protect them, I can offer only these words: I’m sorry “the system” and people’s blind eyes toward it keep letting you down. But, while the law enforcement communities and United States government might not ever believe you, others do believe you, and will. Speak up. It doesn’t matter if it happened thirty seconds ago, or thirty years ago. Speak up. It doesn’t matter if all you have in the way of evidence is your story. Speak up. It doesn’t matter if you feel as if you had “asked for it.” Like, maybe if you hadn’t drunk so much, or hadn’t worn such revealing clothing, or hadn’t been alone at night in his car or apartment - maybe if you had just been smarter, it never would’ve happened. None of that is true, and none of it matters. All that matters is that you speak up. Today. Now. Someone is there, ready and willing to listen.

Finally, some "good" news for a change! You're right, it matters little to Laquan's loved ones. The verdict won't bring him back. But, for once, justice appears to have been done. I don't talk much about the Tulsa Race Riots, because it's long been my suspicion that the black man who allegedly assaulted the white woman in an elevator might have been a member of my mother's biological family.

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, voted to end debate, but said she will announce her final position on whether to confirm Kavanaugh on Friday afternoon. Girl, BYE. The nomination now hangs on the decisions of Collins, Murkowski, Flake and Manchin. #FFFFFcuked "Any human being who has been falsely accused of a range of things including gang rape has a right to be upset, has a right to be angry [...]." -- WH Water Carrier Spokesperson Kerri Kupec "Unless that human being is of color. Then, they're 'straightaway dangerous -- and handled with a Chain --'." -- Me (by way of Emily Dickinson) They're like Agnes Nixon: "make 'em laugh, make 'em cry, make 'em wait (for the inevitable)."

Leaving the country never crossed my mind during the worst of the GWB era either. But, that was because, as "intellectually incurious" as that man was, and as flagrantly as he and his minions lied us into a war that is unending and "un-winnable," there still remained at least the APPEARANCE of respect for things like the rule of law and the rights of the disenfranchised; and a willingness, at least up to a point, to compromise. That's my issue with this administration. They won't fake a compromise with the left or see things from our POV. Either we go along with their disastrous agendas, or we're dirt. That is just not how republics are run.

ICAM. And I loved this comment on the op-ed that I saw on Josh Marshall's link: Sorry I hurt you honey. I brought you flowers. It will never happen again I promise. Kav is the abuser, and the public, esp. the women, is the battered wife, who needs to fake her death, change her name and move to a new town where she will meet a kindly drama teacher played by Kevin Anderson.

Meanwhile, not that it ever mattered, but three of Kav's former drinking buddies -- Charles Ludington, Lynne Brookes and Elizabeth Swisher -- are attempting to harsh Kav's buzz even more with this WaPo opinion piece. (Seriously, guys, you need to cool it, or Tit and Clit will not invite you to any more keggers.) Doesn't matter. It worked. Watch.

Yeah, add that to the ever-growing list of things that have "died" under this administration. There are times when I feel that way myself. What good is it to "speak truth to power" when those in power don't care, won't listen and think we're fools even for trying? They just keep doing what they're doing, and we keep sinking further and further into the abyss, with no relief in sight. If I had the money, I would leave this country as soon as possible. I don't know where I'd go, because it seems like there aren't too many places you can go these days. But, I'd leave anyway, just because I'm so tired of crying (literally, tears streaming down my face) over what this country is doing to itself.

Grassley IS a colonic. But seriously. Publishing that letter on the eve of the Big Vote is both a savvy move and an obvious one. It's so calculated, you'd think Kav was running for office.

Oh, and I have to thank Darn for posting that clip of Bianca's coming out in the AMC thread. In particular, Bianca's talking to Erica about how she got drunk and tried to make out with the captain of the boys' soccer team rather than disappoint her mother for being gay...well, it just sounded SO familiar.

Well, it does except, I've already brought up and refuted that argument above. Again, the GOP doesn't need Kav to overturn that case OR spare any sitting presidents from investigations and/or criminal prosecutions. I believe there are several judges on their list who lean the same way. It's just Kav was probably more candid about his position. Meanwhile... https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/04/technology/facebook-kavanaugh-nomination-kaplan.html You know...as strange as this might sound...I feel like Kav will end up doing more damage to this nation's unity than even Trump.

The Politics Thread
Earlier today, I saw a meme that asked the question: "Why does the GOP want to die on this hill?" "This hill," of course, meaning Kavanaugh. And, you know, I've wondered that myself. As I've said before, even if Kav were to withdraw, or if the SJC were to reject his nomination, there's still an open SCOTUS seat to be filled. There's no getting around that OR that the Senate and WH will see to it that it's filled by a conservative. Kav's not being there will not change their long game one iota, so why do they hold onto him? I've heard the argument, "Well, they want Kav, because they know the President will be safe from prosecution." But is Kav really the ONLY judge on their short list who stands between Trump and impeachment proceedings? Do they think no other conservative-leaning judges will get in Mueller's way? And it can't be that they're afraid of what their voters will do either, because -- and I could be wrong here -- their voters will forget all about Kav as soon as they see the SJC nominate another, right-leaning judge to fill that vacancy. Even they know that that, and not defending Kav, is what's most important here. So, again, Why. Brett. Kavanaugh.

That's the thing: look at the chart that that article provides. Caucasians came out strong for Trump, and I don't think that's going to change. From where I sit, most who voted for Trump seem pretty happy with everything he's done thus far. So it IS up to the WOC -- and really, to POC in general -- to get over the fact that we don't have anymore Obamas right now and vote. Even if it means voting for more white people (who, granted, are more well-intentioned than anyone from the GOP).
