These days, I feel kind of like how Murphy Brown felt last week: "Why lie?" They hold the keys to the kingdom, so to speak, and (barring any last-minute divine interventions on Election Day, which I doubt will come) they probably will until our CHILDREN are old and gray. They're never going to persuade the left on any of their arguments; and really, it doesn't matter how the other side thinks or feels, because thanks not just to Kavanaugh's confirmation but also to racial gerrymandering and stripping away parts of the Voting Rights Acts, they've seen to it that will be as cold as Christmas in Hell before we ever have any say in government again. And even when they KNOW that their leaders are lying to them, their followers remain affixed to their sides (or other parts of their anatomies). So, why deceive the public at all? Why evade or exaggerate? Why ignore and/or rewrite history, in this case, to fit their screwy arguments? WHY. LIE. Why not just come right out and say, "Yes, I blocked Merrick Garland's nomination, because I didn't want Obama to have that SCOTUS pick, and I'll be damned before I let a liberal judge tilt the Supreme Court to the left!"? Better yet, why not just say what you REALLY want to say, Mitch? You blocked it, because you could; and if we don't like it, tough [!@#$%^&*]! (SNL's Kate McKinnon-as-Lindsey Graham said it best: "I'm never getting pregnant, so who cares?".) What, do they need permission to be that petty? Well, look who's the CEO! Not a MINUTE goes by when he isn't being petty! And, yes, he gets away with it, too! So, if they think being openly petty would turn off or turn away voters, look no further than the King of Petty, Mr. Make America Great Again, Donald J. [!@#$%^&*] Trump! It's bad enough that the GOP is doing everything in its' power and then some to roll us all the way back to 1952. I could handle the obviousness in their agenda. But the lying. The peeing on all our legs as they tell us it's raining. The fact that even my own mother, someone I used to look up to as one (and a Black woman, at that) who could smell the bullshit from a thousand miles away, now BELIEVING that what these people are doing is somehow in accordance with God's will; and the fact I, myself, have begun to wonder if this is what God really wants, and questioning how I ever could love and serve a God who could be this cruel to His own children.... I can't take it anymore. I just can't.

I KNOW it's futile where I live -- no one does "voting against their better interests" better than Oklahomans -- but as I keep saying, if *I'm* mad enough to vote this time around, then nobody has any excuses. #NoXcuses

Oh, well. She made her bed. She could writhe in it. It's really the look of every white man who's ever beaten the rap. He got away with murder, and he knows it. I don't want to say anything that's going to get me flagged or banned, but...what comes around goes around, Brett. In the meantime, I'm moving onto midterms. Let him have his damn SCOTUS seat. I truly could not care less.

Excuse me, "a lot of work"? Does that man have any idea how much work your average woman DOES every day? Not just in business, but (for many) as wife and mother? Of course he doesn't. He doesn't have any idea, because he has a penis; and those with penises think only with their penises. Go home, Chuck. You're out of touch.

IA. I think that upsets me more than the fact that Kav will be confirmed. Across the globe, women are witnessing what's happening, and they're taking it as a sign that, if you are a victim of sexual violence, don't bother coming forward, because no one will believe you. Absolutely, ICAM.

They also liked how Trump sold himself as this mega-successful businessman (and "reality star") whose very name was emblazoned on everything from skyscrapers to ice cream. Deep down, we Americans are suckers for the J.R. Ewing types.

But, people love Trump, because they think he is so "plain-spoken." Meaning, of course, they thought Obama sounded "uppity" and thought of himself as being "above them." Right. Maybe Avenatti and others muddied the waters, so to speak, but the FBI investigation was just a tactic to quiet down the shouters. Kav was going to be "their guy," no matter what.

Election Day is a month away, though, so I think it's very important to keep this and other atrocities foremost in people's minds until then. We cannot let Trump distract us with more inane b.s.

Well, it better. If even fat, lazy heffa me can get off MY ass and register to vote, no one -- AND I MEAN NO ONE -- has any damn excuses. Not. One. Welp. I'm going ahead on and posting this message I’ve been sitting on and revising for the past several days. No, he hasn’t been officially confirmed, but come on, who are we kidding here? Anyway. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Are you surprised that Brett Kavanaugh has been confirmed to the Supreme Court? You are? Really? Wow. I won’t pretend I didn’t see this coming. I saw it coming. I always see it coming. It’s part of the Evil That White Men Do. But, if you’re like my mother, and you wonder why more women don’t come forward about being sexually assaulted or harassed sooner, or at all — well, now you have your answer. Christine Blasey Ford could’ve produced grainy, videotaped footage that corroborated her testimony, and all the zippers that sat in front of her and “listened” to her story still would’ve believed Judge Kavanaugh over her. And Judge Kavanaugh could’ve entered the hearing like a roided-out pro wrestler (which he kinda did), flipping tables and smashing in people’s faces with metal folding chairs, and they still would’ve said, “This man is ready to serve on the highest court in the land.” And please, don’t get me started again on the FBI “investigation” that was about as thorough as taking one of those sex quizzes in Cosmopolitan magazine while you wait for your doctor to see you. (Is it even an investigation when you don’t interview the victim OR her alleged perpetrator(s)? Seriously, don’t get me started again. Just don’t.) It’s a sad day when Justice Clarence Thomas’ 1991 response to Anita Hill’s accusations against him is seen as a model of human restraint. But, that’s where we are, ladies and gentlemen, in the year of our Lord, two thousand and eighteen. It’s also sad that Professor Ford, herself a picture of grace under pressure as she spoke, had to endure that sham of a hearing, when everyone knew going in that those men’s minds had been made up from the moment “President” Trump presented Judge Kavanaugh as his nominee. Again, though, it’s just the Evil That White Men Do. To Judge Kavanaugh, to the senators who voted for him nevertheless, and to all perpetrators of violence against women and others everywhere, know that reckoning comes to everyone. If it doesn’t come from the courtrooms or the ballot boxes, believe me, it’ll come from someplace else. (Oh, and Brett? Any man who has to get [!@#$%^&*]-faced just to approach women is gay. All the beer-drinking cliques in the world will never change what you are. ACCEPT IT.) To Ashley Estes Kavanaugh, I pray your beautiful daughters never come to you and admit they, too, have been victims of sexual violence. And if they do, I pray you will believe them a lot more than that roomful of men believed Professor Ford. (Also, your husband is gay. But, I suspect you knew as much already. ) To the women who branded Judge Kav’s accusers as liars and worse, who saw him at HIS worst, but who still believe that a “good man” has been unjustly persecuted, begin emancipating yourselves from mental slavery. (Thanks, Bob Marley!) You might be cool with everything that’s happened to this country since Trump took office, but the rest of us aren’t; and if and when we do kick that man, his minions and followers to the proverbial curb, we’re gonna make double sure you join them. So, wise up. And to Professor Ford, to Deborah Ramirez, to Julie Swetnick, and to all women everywhere who have been harassed or assaulted by those who are supposed to respect and protect them, I can offer only these words: I’m sorry “the system” and people’s blind eyes toward it keep letting you down. But, while the law enforcement communities and United States government might not ever believe you, others do believe you, and will. Speak up. It doesn’t matter if it happened thirty seconds ago, or thirty years ago. Speak up. It doesn’t matter if all you have in the way of evidence is your story. Speak up. It doesn’t matter if you feel as if you had “asked for it.” Like, maybe if you hadn’t drunk so much, or hadn’t worn such revealing clothing, or hadn’t been alone at night in his car or apartment - maybe if you had just been smarter, it never would’ve happened. None of that is true, and none of it matters. All that matters is that you speak up. Today. Now. Someone is there, ready and willing to listen.

Finally, some "good" news for a change! You're right, it matters little to Laquan's loved ones. The verdict won't bring him back. But, for once, justice appears to have been done. I don't talk much about the Tulsa Race Riots, because it's long been my suspicion that the black man who allegedly assaulted the white woman in an elevator might have been a member of my mother's biological family.

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, voted to end debate, but said she will announce her final position on whether to confirm Kavanaugh on Friday afternoon. Girl, BYE. The nomination now hangs on the decisions of Collins, Murkowski, Flake and Manchin. #FFFFFcuked "Any human being who has been falsely accused of a range of things including gang rape has a right to be upset, has a right to be angry [...]." -- WH Water Carrier Spokesperson Kerri Kupec "Unless that human being is of color. Then, they're 'straightaway dangerous -- and handled with a Chain --'." -- Me (by way of Emily Dickinson) They're like Agnes Nixon: "make 'em laugh, make 'em cry, make 'em wait (for the inevitable)."

Leaving the country never crossed my mind during the worst of the GWB era either. But, that was because, as "intellectually incurious" as that man was, and as flagrantly as he and his minions lied us into a war that is unending and "un-winnable," there still remained at least the APPEARANCE of respect for things like the rule of law and the rights of the disenfranchised; and a willingness, at least up to a point, to compromise. That's my issue with this administration. They won't fake a compromise with the left or see things from our POV. Either we go along with their disastrous agendas, or we're dirt. That is just not how republics are run.

ICAM. And I loved this comment on the op-ed that I saw on Josh Marshall's link: Sorry I hurt you honey. I brought you flowers. It will never happen again I promise. Kav is the abuser, and the public, esp. the women, is the battered wife, who needs to fake her death, change her name and move to a new town where she will meet a kindly drama teacher played by Kevin Anderson.

Meanwhile, not that it ever mattered, but three of Kav's former drinking buddies -- Charles Ludington, Lynne Brookes and Elizabeth Swisher -- are attempting to harsh Kav's buzz even more with this WaPo opinion piece. (Seriously, guys, you need to cool it, or Tit and Clit will not invite you to any more keggers.) Doesn't matter. It worked. Watch.

Yeah, add that to the ever-growing list of things that have "died" under this administration. There are times when I feel that way myself. What good is it to "speak truth to power" when those in power don't care, won't listen and think we're fools even for trying? They just keep doing what they're doing, and we keep sinking further and further into the abyss, with no relief in sight. If I had the money, I would leave this country as soon as possible. I don't know where I'd go, because it seems like there aren't too many places you can go these days. But, I'd leave anyway, just because I'm so tired of crying (literally, tears streaming down my face) over what this country is doing to itself.
