  1. Listen, if he could fool Rhoda and her family....!
  2. If Kelly comes back: 1) I don't want it to be as Sam. 2) I want her to play a nun. A nun with edge! But a nun. (Yes, I'm kidding!!)
  3. Was that before or after D.L. pushed an elderly woman in front of a speeding bus and strangled her puppy with his bare hands? (I'm kidding.)
  4. That's the trouble when you have a season with only 19 episodes: you have literally no time to set up things like that (Gary/Kate) properly.
  5. I agree. Which is why I'm more convinced than ever that Drew set the whole damn thing up, lol.
  6. I didn't know that, or I don't remember it, but I'm not surprised. GH might've been the #1 show during the '80's, but for my money, DAYS was better produced. Their remote/action sequences are still things of beauty.
  7. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: when Lucky said he should've left Liz to die in the snow, I was done with them as a couple. You don't come back from something like that. ICAM!
  8. Actually, @AbcNbc247 , I think Ben and Cathy's affair held a lot of dramatic potential. For one thing, it helped that Douglas Sheehan and Lisa Hartman shared nice chemistry. (Of course, Sheehan was the type to share romantic chemistry with just about every woman, lol). Moreover, I liked how their affair grew organically out of their friendship and circumstances, with Cathy putting her life and career back together after Joshua, and Ben feeling left out with Gary, Val and the twins. Unlike when Abby first pursued Gary, neither Ben nor Cathy had designs on each other; which, in turn, made it difficult to brand either of them as the heavy or villain in the story, even though their affair hurt people that they both loved and cared about. If not for the fact that Lisa Hartman was on her way out, I would have liked to see where, if anywhere, Ben and Cathy's affair would've gone, because, IMO, it's probably the kind of story David Jacobs always wanted to tell on KL, and probably the last character-driven storyline we'd get for a LONG while, lol.
  9. Knowing Gary and Val, though, it wouldn't have lasted. Those two kept trying to recapture something that wasn't meant to last in the first place. Plus, Gary was more like his father and brothers than even he cared to admit. He never wanted Val to grow as a person, just stay the same cute, 15-year-old hash-house waitress he first met in Fort Worth.
  10. Most sobering thought: we're losing more and more individuals who lived through the Civil Rights Movement at a time when our nation's fate couldn't be more precarious.
  11. We could, but IIRC, Gary and Val were on the outs again in the DALLAS revival series, and Lucy appeared to be close to the two again (or at least to Val). (Or maybe, in DALLAS' universe, Gary and Val never got back together after he slept with Abby? I dunno, it's all so damn confusing, lol!)
  12. Well, this definitely looks more authentic...but now I'm wondering why they have Anita looking like Claudine?
  13. That's correct. KL severed all ties with DALLAS after that infamous shower scene. David Jacobs felt it was a cheat; and if they had acknowledged it, that would've meant everything that had happened on KL during the 1985-86 season was a dream as well. (Although, in hindsight, there are parts of KNOTS S7 that I'd love to dismiss as a dream, lol).
  14. That's what I would do as well. It's fast, it doesn't play off any current trends (that will make the piece look dated once those trends pass) and it requires little to no updating.
  15. I would much rather have watched a storyline where Val realizes Lilimae has Alzheimer's Disease and moves her back into her and Gary's home than that crappy story about Michael Woods co-writing her latest book while trying to sleep with her (or whatever). And maybe it's just me, but I feel like Diana's return in S14 was the PERFECT time for Karen to learn her daughter was involved with another woman.
  16. I think there were two reasons why they never brought Lucy on full-time: one, having Gary and Val's grown (or nearly grown) daughter around would've aged Gary and Val (even though Gary and Val were still teenagers when they had her); and two, DALLAS characters in general never fit in with the rest of the KL canvas. Still, if Lucy HAD come back to Knots Landing at some point, I could see going to work as Paige's gossipy assistant at the Sumner Group (as a favor to Gary, of course, lol) and maybe even becoming the object of both Mort and Bob's affections (with schlumpy Bob actually winning out over smarmy Mort in the end).
  17. So, I'm not the only one who was traumatized by all those Sunsweet commercials, eh, lol?
  18. I hope we aren't. As long as Wayne Northrop was still alive and capable of returning to the show AS Roman, I held out hope. However, he's gone now, and Josh Taylor and Deidre Hall just don't share that type of chemistry. I'd much rather see Marlena in a relationship with someone new (after an appropriate period of mourning, of course, lol).
  19. I agree. I understand that the budget for S14 was peanuts, but I do believe more of an effort should've been made to tie up not just the past 1-2 seasons, but the series overall. As I've said in the past, Karen could've called Richard to help defend Mack on the murder charges (which would've laid the groundwork for a hookup and HEA for Richard and Anne). Lilimae could've returned for a few episodes to help Gary look after the twins after Val's disappearance (and make passive-aggressive comments about Kate). Gary could've crossed paths with Ben while looking for Val in Florida (and as the two search for her, they bury the hatchet). Cathy could've easily popped up again (this time, in an abusive relationship with Nigel Treadwell, whom she met while on tour in Europe). And even though it would've been a long shot, maybe - just maybe - they could've persuaded Constance McCashin to make a few appearances as Laura's spirit/Greg's conscience as he deals with the task force stuff.
  20. I think that's because they realized (too late) that Lance Guest was just wrong for that role. I could quibble about how Steve was introduced - a granola-eating hippie who lives out of his van? Seriously, KNOTS? - but in order for such a crazy storyline to work, he needed to be played by someone who was very dynamic; a little earnest at first, sure, but he definitely needed smoldering good looks, with just the right touch of mischief. Guest had none of that. Not to mention the whiplash we got from the Brian Johnston storyline, which went from "Brian likes to videotape his sexual encounters (and Linda's on one of those tapes)" to "Brian has disappeared and is wanted by the authorities". Wait, what, lol? And Karen's "Walking Tall" storyline - with the needless twist of Jason being in that car - definitely felt tacked on, as if they were afraid they didn't have a juicy enough cliffhanger to run in ads. The Lechowicks left the show in such a mess, lol.
  21. Yep. Even Mal Young's Y&R wasn't so depressing to watch.
  22. Yeah, S13 is a real bitch is to get through. None of the stories that the new team introduced worked, characters like Claudia, Paige and Kate didn't sound or behave like themselves at all; the Brian Johnston storyline spun so out of control that I still can't make heads or tails of it; and the biggest sin of all: wasting Marcia [!@#$%^&*] Cross. As @DRW50 says, it's a blessing in disguise that JVA/Val was virtually ignored the entire season, lol.
  23. I'm leaning toward Robert Lansing (a.k.a. "Control," in the original "Equalizer").
  24. Frankly, a lot of what they pull wouldn't be so bad if the execution wasn't so lousy.
  25. Under better circumstances - namely, better writing - Gregory Harrison would've been a fantastic addition to the show. He certainly sparked with Jane Elliot; it's just a shame that it happened during his final weeks on the show, when his fate was sealed already, and most of the audience were past giving a damn.
