-- Agree with your entire post. It takes so little to make things make sense so e don't have to handwave more than necessary. -- I would say the dialogue for today's show was about the best it's been for the entire BTG run. --And did you notice we didn't have to listen to slang being thrown in all over the place? Tyrell didn't tell Jessica it's "lit" when she mentioned going to Stanford. Jessica didn't say "No cap" when reinforcing a point to Tyrell. Vernon didn't have to respond with "What does that mean?" when Tyrell talked in slang.

ARTICLE: ‘General Hospital’ Improves Among Key Demos, ‘The Young And The Restless’ Dominates – RATINGS
If you look too closely at the ratings, you find flaws with the numbers. -- Y&R and B&B and BTG all LOST viewers in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos. All GAINED viewers overall, which seems to indicate the gain came entirely from the 55+ crowd. -- GH GAINED viewers in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos, but LOST viewers overall. So the "older viewers" showed up in numbers for the CBS soaps but disappeared on the ABC soap? Make it make sense.

And it's not believable that family members would know every single note and move of the Articulettes and know nothing about Anita as a jazz singer. That woman would have made sure they listened to her music. It is messed up. The writers are not making Anita look good with this writing. She says she'll leave it up to Sharon and Tracy to decide if she gets the solo, but she's just playing mind games to make THEM seem selfish. Tracy was especially ridiculous, seemingly ignoring every argument they had about the past. Why is she completely bending the knee for this woman and acting like Sharon's the selfish one? Why are Tracy and Sharon now calling themselves "backups" like they're inferior? This is now Anita's Concert, and it's a shame. I agree, and I don't think this does the Anita character any favors. -- Sharon having a panic attack didn't work for me. We've been seeing previews of the concert taking place all week, so we know that's going nowhere. -- The dialogue for the Nicole/Smitty and the Vernon/Tyrell scenes was well done. No one "won" and both sides made excellent points about their feelings. -- I think the chemistry between Martin and Smitty is palpable, and I do believe these characters are in love. -- Andre flipping tablet photos between Dani and Ashley just makes his taste in women even more of a joke. I have no idea what he sees in Ashley. None. -- Anita waited until concert day to speak with Andre about taking photos? Sure. -- The actress playing Jessica is pretty good, and should have been cast as Samantha. At least she doesn't look 30.

I don't see a storyline either beyond giving Tamara Tunie something to do. The whole thing about adding a solo/solos at the last minute had me smh. It's alrady been a ridiculously short time to get this reunion concert together, and now they're making last minute changes to the set list with solos and also changing the costumes? Yea, right. But I guess we're in the era of hand waving all this stuff away and saying it's no big deal.

Alegria would work in that role only if the character was an AI robot.

Close. Instead Nate took her to the park to tell her. After all, everyone wants to be told in public that their child was murdered. -- In other news, can't wait until Cane returns to Genoa City and takes a room at the GCAC. You know, all billionaires stay there indefinitely.

I've had problems with that from the jump. It just doesn't work, down to seeing the actual awatds on her mantle and shelves. None of them look like the real thing. There was no reason to make her one of the most celebrated entertainers in the world.

Back from the dead is a soap opera staple. We all know that.

-- I hated that Anita put her solo up to a vote. What a completely bitchass move. This is doing no favors for Anita/TT. -- For a scene showing "Chelsea changes the show outfits," it should have taken place at least a week ago. Hours before the concert? No. I don't like hand-waving away those types of things. -- Actually, adding a solo right before the concert is also ridiculous. -- Barbara was mentioned so many times today. I trust the show won't have her sitting in the audience. If that happens, I will gag. -- And what are they having Samantha do, asking her to mimic the moves of the Articulettes? This family is able to do everything with no notice. Amazing. -- The moments with Nicole as Martin's mother? Excellent. Playing therapist? Don't like it. I think Nicole should know better.

I'm happy for a new set, but a bookstore? Really? I'd rather see Julie running a store with antiques and tchotchkes.

They paid for the arrangement, but not for the original with Cole and Natalie. I'll give them half-credit. The male singer was a decent carbon copy but the female was not. I'm sure the cost would have been astronomical.

It did look good, but once again the fashion disappointed. Nothing special about any of it. And to what end is Luna alive? So she can come back and go directly to jail? If it's just to send her off without anyone knowing, what's the point?

I want someone to shake Rocco and call him an idiot. Britt raised him for under a year, right? Yet now he's talking about her and Obrecht knowing his favorite food was avocado and his favorite color was green. He thinks they must know even more about him. Are you kidding me with this stuff? If Rocco were with Britt for 3 or 4 years, I would understand this. But months? No. And no, Rocco, you don't have "another mother."

-- I think the show wants us to feel sorry for Eva. I don't. I want to shake her for thinking Tomas is in any way a prize. -- Alex Alegria is so terrible as Tomas that he takes the heat off anyone else's acting. -- The Andre/Ashley scenes were cringe, mostly because of Ashley acting like a 16 year old. This isn't The Summer I Turned Pretty. -- Ashley's talking about her dreams and future. Didn't she just recently become a nurse? Is her dream a red balloon in Paris? -- Why wouldn't Ashley even kiss Andre? Sorry, I don't find that normal. I just don't. -- And Ashley can stop worrying about Derek, period. It just makes her look more immature and pathetic. -- I feel as if the June story is being written the same way the Martin story was written. We're getting information in dribs and drabs instead of realistically. The actress playing Regina is good, but I still don't care about who those kids are or about June's future. -- Why did Eva give her mother the entire check? Why not give her part of the money and not all of it? Let her get her bills paid, get her life on track, etc. We know she blew $50k in a couple months and she'll do the same with this check. -- I hope there's a plan for Leslie, because what we're getting is repetition. -- Joey and his backroom casino continue to be skeevy. Sorry, I can't stand the character. All he does is make Vanessa look like an even dumber slut. I have no idea why she finds his persona attractive.

I have a really hard time with this. I know Belle has a job to do, but to go at Johnny this hard? It doesn't make sense. And yeah, I'm ignoring that Belle and EJ make not sense as lawyers here to begin with. But at some point, you need to have a trial that makes SOME sense and doesn't again hit you in the face with ridiculousness.

Huge mistake killing off another legacy character. Even worse was the lack of respect for the character Chance in the last scenes. Wouldn't all these people who knew him so well and even loved him talk about him? Instead they talked business. We got shots of everyone else but not Chance.

More annoyed me than not on today's show: -- Tomas asked Kat how the sex was. She replied "Lovely," which is not what someone Kat's age would say. Tomas went further, saying "That's something you say about your auntie's potato salad." What? Who wrote this dialogue? -- Kat's entire response to the sex seemed off, because it was pretty much NO reaction. I don't think that's realistic from someone like Kat. She wasn't happy, she wasn't sad, she wasn't regretful, she wasn't emotional. She was nothing. -- Kat possibly being asexual? Sorry, there's no future in that on a soap. -- Tomas? He was a robot, as usual. -- I was glad that Ted turned down Leslie's money grab, and like everyone else, I'm wondering what she did with the $50k. Still, I don't like seeing Eva AGAIN allow herself to be used by her mother. Yeah, there's trauma and breaking those chains and all that. I'm aware, but I don't want Eva playing both sides all the time. -- Did I hear Andre call Ashley "Nurse Baddie"? Are you kidding me? In what effing universe is she a baddie? -- For being a main hub at Garland Memorial, that nurses' station has so little activity it's hilarious. Ashley takes breaks at will. Why not, when there are no patients in sight? Only Shanice saved those scenes. -- Ashley saw how Parisian Andre decorated his apartment for her and said "The is the greatest thing anyone has ever done for me." Kill me now and light me on fire. -- It's so obvious that Samantha and Tyrell are June's kids that it HAS to be a misdirect. It's way too paint-by-numbers, so I hope to God we're being fooled. -- If S and T are June's children, I do not want to see a ridiculous custody fight...not when the kids were legally adopted and saved from a very bad home life and a mentally ill mother. -- I'd still like an explanation as to why that photo June carries around looks like it was taken in 1962.

Have to agree with you. I think a lot of beats were missed at that wedding. After last week's excellent build up, this was really disappointing. Instead, I found myself annoyed at how shrill Cynthia Watros played Nina in that Drew confrontation. Good actor, bad choices.

I'm kind of stunned that Willow didn't marry Drew. I think there was more and better story to play if she had.

BTG: July 2025 Discussion Thread
I agree completely -- to the point that I think it's unfair to mention Brandon Claybon in the same discussion with Alex Alegria. Claybon has had some "That Is Not Good" moments, but he's also been solid in others. I think he wanted to do a particular take on Martin from the beginning and that it took a while for it to work, and a while for us to accept it. Alegria has been bad from the start, to the point where I feel bad for being so critical. I looked at his acting resume, and I cannot believe he's still in the business. Every line reading is flat, from saying "Yes, Boss" to Bill all the way to a sex scene with Kat. That sex scene should have resonated MUCH more with the audience than it did. That it didn't register much at all isn't because of Colby Muhammad, that's for sure.
-
BTG: July 2025 Discussion Thread
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Alex Alegria is awful. For a time, I thought "At least he's good to look at and has a great voice." But that is not enough. Great looking Latino actors are all over the place. I cannot believe how awkward and stilted Alegria is, and he's not getting any better. Scenes without music? When Alegria is onscreen, they need to crank up the entire orchestra. The guy is in a major love triangle with two half-sisters and he brings no heat to any of it.

BTG: July 2025 Discussion Thread
I think she's excellent in the role, but I think Colby Muhammad is just as good playing Kat. I don't see this huge gap in talent between them that others see. It's not that CM is criticized, but that she's almost ignored because AM is mentioned so often.
-
BTG: July 2025 Discussion Thread
I agree with this. Kat is a well-written character and Colby Muhammad does a great job with the role. She gets less attention than Ambyr Michelle as Eva and is often ignored as someone doing a really good job.
