I'll join you on ALM. I think she's good in the role. I think her likability as a performer is the reason she was able to survive and redeem her character after what she did to Chad.

Good points, but I don't see many characters on GH getting "continuing content" anyway. I don't see Paevey getting consistent lead stories.

We almost always agree, but I thought Will was OK today and that the Electra performance was AWFUL. She was good with the Luna slap, but this attempt at being badass and in charge did not work. I also LOL that no one else had called the police on Luna -- and that she had to do it. These people are all scum.

-- Carly working the counter at Bobbie's continues to be hilarious and ridiculous to me. Just not believable. -- I co-sign to everything said here about Kirsten Storms in the past 24 hours. I don't think any television performer "deserves" this kind of grace from her employer. She's really lucky, but we're all paying the price for these absences when Frank protects her with the writing. -- Spinelli has been better in the past year, but do I want to see more of him? No. He was always acceptable when used sporadically, and regular sightings would be exhausting . -- I understand the criticisms about Ryan Paevey, but I don't agree with them. Will he ever be known as "a good actor"? No, but he's not a bad actor, either -- not for the roles he plays. I think there's room in daytime (and in those Hallmark movies) for someone laid back and "sincere" who looks that good. I think he comes off as a "real" and genuine person in Port Charles, a town where we see plenty of showoff personalities. I'd MUCH rather get the Paevey and Swickard style of acting than to live through the Tomas that Alex Alegria gives us on BTG. -- A couple people here keep mentioning sweeps month and that GH seems to be ramping up for November, etc. Am I wrong that I think sweeps are much less important than they used to be? Do we really think soap writers stay up all night preparing for sweeps stories and then take off a couple months afterwards because sweeps is over? -- Yes, there's still some "nostalgia" for traditional sweeps, but ratings services are MUCH more sophisticated with technology, and they can keep advertisers updated CONSTANTLY on streaming, engagement, etc. There's no need to laser on a few months per year, especially since viewer habits are no longer rigid.

Mona is a class traitor? Are you watching the same show as the rest of us? I'm sorry, but your post had me LOL.

I'm more a Mona fan than Jan fan, too. Mona played that walk away moment perfectly -- she doesn't suffer fools -- but why does the white character get to be "the voice of reason"? In the end, Jan offered to talk to Leslie again while clearly not expecting ANY changes in her. Jan got to be motherly while Mona walked away. I'm white, and I understand the importance of white characters as support on this show. Still, even though the majority of the cast is POC, we still get white people as best friends. Dani, Nicole, Naomi -- their besties are all white. Maybe this is minor and I'm just quibbling again, because I do understand the need to tie these white characters into the main cast.

I hear you on that, but it's also clear that it "suddenly stopped" because of BTS pressures, NOT audience reaction.

-- The Jack and Jennifer clips were great, especially since we got clips we haven't seen or haven't seen in forever. Here's to DAYS having a budget! -- And, yeah, Matthew Ashford sure was pretty when he was young. -- Lots of great comments on the show this week, and I've enjoyed reading them. -- I do wish DAYS 2025 would capitalize on its streaming status. All we get are different run times. Even without a budget, why can't the show be more "adult"? Even a little? Both content and language could use a mature upgrade. I thought we'd see it with the move to streaming, but it has not happened.

GH completely blew it with the Sprina storyline. They had gold but kept holding back and then holding back some more -- teasing us as if they had unlimited time when we all knew NAC would be gone when his contract expired. The same thing is happening with Gio and Emma. It's drip-drip-drip -- again as if they have unlimited time. It's insane, and they're blowing it again.

-- It's almost funny that Eve thinks Mona and Jan can get through to her mother. -- Mona told Eve exactly who Leslie is. Anyone with sense would refuse to be friends with Leslie after what she did. -- Jan acted tough with Leslie in the beginning, but it was all a facade for "Yes, I'll be your friend again and you can do anything you want." Jan got NOTHING from Leslie except a promise not to involve her in any more schemes. -- I am LOST as to why this show gives so much airtime to Tomas. I mean, he can't even say "Hello" like a normal human being. What is this show seeing that we're not? -- I did cringe when Leslie called Tomas "senor" and then said "Hasta luego" when he left. Why portray Leslie as a bigot? -- Please let Hayley go batsh!t. What's going on with her so far has either been dropped, breadcrumbed, or hasn't worked. -- Gotta hand it to Cady McCain. She uses a different accent in every appearance and still hasn't run out of them. -- I can appreciate camp, but Pamela behaves like she's auditioning for a role in The Naked Gun.

-- That Lauren and Michael argument in the Jazz Lounge was so over-the-top and ridiculous that I have no words. Completely out of character. Of course, they did make up and kiss 30 minutes later. GMAFB. -- Does anyone care that Lauren will be Christine's maid of honor? ANYONE??? -- So Jill's already leaving town. Jess Walton gives us the best -- which is really good -- and then disappears for another 6 months. Then again, most good things are off screen with this show. -- Cane referred to Chelsea's con days. That's Josh Griffith giving us his version of "history." We haven't seen Chelsea pull a con for YEARS, so that dialogue is useless. -- Chelsea's con days were the last time she was interesting.

I'll join you in the minority. I would hate to lose either Maura West or Cynthia Watros. They're not doing much now? Well, then, cut some weak actors and give them more to do. -- So more scenes with Sonny and the D.A. Maurice Benard might love that actress, but the struggle was real for him today as he worked overtime to remember his lines. -- I have no idea why Tracy first went to Lulu to get information on Ronnie. Why not hire a high-powered investigator from the jump? -- Portia is pregnant, but I guess we'll never hear abortion mentioned. You know, the way we would in real life. -- Dark Michael is MUCH too kind to Ronnie for my taste. He was so close to Monica that he not only accepts, but welcomes Ronnie taking over the Q home? How many times will we hear him say "This is your house now, Aunt Ronnie"? Does he just assume everyone who lives there will now be welcome into "Ronnie's house"?

-- Andre won big-time in that confrontation that Bill forced. He made Bill look small and pathetic. -- Andre might not be Dani's forever husband, but he knows how to treat her and says all the right things about her. -- Hayley is just as sad as her lame ass husband. They deserve each other. -- Vanessa just can't help herself. When she got up to say goodbye to Golden Corral Casino Mobster Joey, she grabbed him around the neck -- just as any romantic and sexual partner would. -- And in front of her son? The day her husband was buried? She's trash. -- Donnell and Jacob both clocked out but neither said anything. My guess is this gets mentioned in the future. -- Of course, Vanessa doubled down on what a ho she is when she explained her "friendship" with GCCM Joey. This woman is for the streets.

I get that, but I won't back away from the comment. Part of me does the CinemaSins analysis, and I can't turn off that part of my brain when I see it or hear it. Overall, I thought that was a great scene between Smitty and Martin, and I liked their volleys and all they shared. That's why the hair thing stuck out so much for me -- I don't think it fit. I haven't finished the episode yet....that scene was the last one I watched until later. I'm hoping for more good talk between them, although I wasn't happy with the way the scene ended, either. Martin recounted how this and that were working well to get them back on track but then ended with "But is it enough?" After that scene, I really wanted to end on a positive note and not immediately return to "Maybe this won't work." I wanted the positive vibes to breathe for awhile -- even if it was for just a couple scenes. I guess that's CinemaSins, too, but I enjoy this board as a place to express what I'm thinking. I respect that others disagree with me. P.S. I'll be back later when I finish watching this episode. LOL.

-- Re: the sets, in the Forrester mansion, that alcove between the staircase and the living room should have been redone. It just looks like wasted space that's dungeon-like. -- Way too much repetition this past week. Why all these scenes with people talking at Luna? IRL, no one would waste their breath on a demented sociopath. -- We were told "No one can keep eyes on Luna all day long." Huh? It's crazy how these people have tons of money until they have no money. -- The Romeo & Juliet love affair of Will and Electra is flat-out boring. Having Ivy as Electra's worthless sounding board doesn't improve the story.

Martin to Smitty: "Our hair is a little grayer, and it's a little thinner." What??? These guys are in their 30s, not their 50s and 60s.

9-1-1
Thanks. I enjoyed the interview -- Oliver Stark is always interesting and he's sooooo damn easy to look at. I appreciate hearing the cast knows the show is campy, and they've made the over-the-top stuff work. I am disappointed that they're apparently still not leaning into Buddie and might be even leaning away from it. We've been teased with Buddie for SO long and for SO many seasons, and I don't think they're ever going to follow through with it. That pisses me off. Since production and writers KNOW what they're doing, it does come off as queerbaiting. I respect writing Buck as bi, but if he ends up with a woman, I'll still see it as a step back. Is that irrational of me? I don't care if it is. I think Stark gives good answers that respect the audience but also protect him with the show. He's really good at not alienating anyone around him. Plus I love to look at him. LOL

Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks LB is not good playing sad and emotional. It all comes off as phony.
-
BTG: October 2025 Discussion Thread
-- Yeah, "emotionally abusive and controlling" is not how I'd describe Martin. He's had bad moments, but overall, he's neither of those -- while Smitty has his own negative attributes. -- While it's good to hear soap couples talk about therapy, do Martin and Smitty really need it? It's not as if they disagree on their problems and obstacles, and this conversation today was evidence they can work things out on their own. -- Why are all these conversations at the police department around Jacob's desk? Ridiculous. -- Jacob's questions for Drake were worthless, followed by him telling Drake not to leave town. Huh? For what? Why would this guy need to listen to orders like that? -- No, Donnell, Drake did not "steal" your father's watch. -- Speaking of ridiculous, watching Vanessa and Donnell view that 20-second clip from the Golden Corral Casino over and over was hilarious. -- Alex Cheeks is doing a MUCH better job at conveying grief than Lauren Bugoli, whose main move is to have her voice break. I know we all like her, but she's been AWFUL in these mourning scenes. I don't believe Vanessa is in any kind of emotional pain. -- If I'm going to criticize other actors on this show (as I have with those playing Tomas, Derek, and Ashley), I'm not letting LB off the hook. -- But it is a Vanessa move to go to Uptown with her Mob Boss boyfriend on the day her husband was buried. Typical trash. Once a slut, always a slut. -- I hope Donnell reads her for filth tomorrow after accusing her of screwing Joey. -- Even better? Let's write it that Doug isn't dead and that he comes back to haunt and torture his cheating whore of a wife and her pathetic gangster boyfriend. -- Good acting? Those Dani/Nicole scenes. DD and KM make it all look easy.

Aside from the new Newman ranch and the redone Abbott mansion, I can't think of anything Phelps has done. If you hadn't tuned in for a year and then watched a recent episode, you might say "The show looks good" without realizing how few sets we see every week and how static everything is. The writing is worse than it was when she arrived. Stories are arguably worse. Either JFP has no power, has run out of ideas, or this show is hamstrung by the budget and nothing can be done.
