ARTICLE: ‘Beyond The Gates’ Grows, ‘Let’s Make A Deal’ A Steady Riser & ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Top Soap Among Women 18-49 — RATINGS
Errol, first of all, thanks for the information. I do have a question about your GH comment. If GH's ratings in the key demos is "a bit concerning," how are the demos of BTG not concerning? We're praising the BTG ratings increases and toasting champagne, but GH is worrisome? Their ratings are basically on par with Gates, and the show is gangbusters on streaming. I just don't think GH is in any kind of trouble. The show that should be furrowing its brow is Y&R, which has completely given up its lead in both key demo categories in the past few years. You can paint a picture of BTG being in some kind of demo trouble, but just saying it doesn't make it true. CBS soaps "used to easily improve the demos year over year"? Uh...how many years are you going back for that to be true? Because soap ratings -- like ALL of linear TV -- have been falling dramatically for YEARS. Considering all that's happened, the soaps are doing just fine. BTG is not in trouble. BTW, the demos for "The Talk" -- at least for this cited week -- were just a tad behind BTG, but it was still drawing 450,000 fewer viewers. That is A LOT. I understand why key demos matter, but I also know that a difference of 450k viewers matters, too.

Dr. Taylor violated every aspect of her oath. Those scenes between Taylor and Deacon were actually hilarious because the dialogue was so absurd. Before getting into his lines, Sean Kanan almost broke. You could see him stifling a laugh because as Deacon he had to ask Taylor, "But how are YOU, Dr. Hayes?" He then had to go into Ridge leaving her "over and over and over." I could not stop laughing.

I agree. I don't see a Smitty/Martin rewrite at all.

Where's the evidence they're still beholden to sweeps? It just feels like whenever there's a lull in story, someone says "They're getting ready for sweeps." DAYS in particular seems to have no reason to care about a sweeps period.

You're right -- Vanessa is not a good mother. She cares much more about screwing Golden Corral Casino Mobster Joey and working with him than she cares about either of her twins. Her daughter didn't come home for the funeral, so Vanessa calls and texts her? Wouldn't a good mother go to her??? I still say Donnell is not going back to school. He's going to catch his slut mother with this old man two-bit lowlife blue pill-taking criminal, and he'll stay in town.

Tamara is as solid as usual in the part, but I wish they'd glammed her up, even a little. She's looked dressed down and makeup empty on her most recent stints on GH and Y&R, and now she looks the same here.

-- Lauren Bugoli (Vanessa) is 38. Jon Lindstron (Joey) is 68. So it's really rich for Joey to insult Dani multiple times about the age difference between her and Andre, including calling him her boy toy. -- BTW, Karla Mosley (Dani) is 44 and Sean Freeman (Andre) is 36. -- Town Mattress Vanessa thinks she got rid of Donnell. My guess is he turns up next week because he changed his mind about returning to college. He'll catch her hoeing with Golden Corral Casino Mobster Joey. -- Did Hayley decorate Ashley's apartment? Yikes, that place is bad. -- What the hell was that food on the plates of Chelsea and Madison at the country club??? Did someone cut up a carrot and say "We'll pretend this is dinner"?t -- Chelsea doesn't need Allison to blow up her life with Madison -- she'll do it herself. Seriously, she is so immature and unaware, and has little respect for Madison. -- In short order, Naomi has become really unlikable. The way she's talking to and treating Jacob is appalling. I hope he leaves her. -- How does Naomi not know who Izaiah is? Did I miss something? Has she never seen photos of Jacob's family? -- It's good we're getting a confrontation between Ted and Carlton. Let's face it -- Carlton violated everything about Bro Code. He's trash. -- Previews show Samantha and Nathan ready to hook up on the family couch? She is so clueless she doesn't take him to her room before letting him get down to his tank top? I think June better give her some more lessons about boys, because this girl is dumb.

-- The Sarah/Xander scenes were powerful, but I'm honestly disgusted that they're breaking up AGAIN. I don't understand putting them back together for such a short period only to do this. I hate the way they're writing this couple's long story. -- The Anastasia Sands stuff is pathetic. Why would anyone care that this milquetoast heroine wrote a "racy" novel? Along with the bookstore and watching patrons paging through books, it feels like these writers think it's 1985, not 2025. -- The "Who gets Tesoro?" storyline makes adoption policy even worse than we all thought it is. None of these people think lawyers, the law, authorities, or anything else matters.

-- GH has a lot going for it, but I am so frustrated with one new plot/story after another while no other story gets wrapped or even partially wrapped. We end up with stories that are either in limbo or dropped completely -- all over the place. -- The same thing happens with couples. We see possible romantic partners circling each other ENDLESSLY, never really getting anywhere. It's teasing to the nth degree, and it's ridiculous.

-- Deacon and especially Brooke are pathetic and obnoxious in pushing Hope to get back with Liam. The parents on this show will never not be embarrassing when all they care about is who is marrying whom. -- The Spencers did the same thing with Liam, pushing him to get back with Hope. -- Also embarrassing? Carter, who once again is treated like trash by a woman he fell in love with. Why does he stay around these people? Oh, that's right, they're "family." -- The entire show was a waste day -- just family members telling Liam and Hope they should be with each other.

Isn't that the truth. Still, if we're looking for a silver lining -- or anything -- at least we can talk about the new sets. The storylines are still bad, in my opinion. These L.A. scenes should be interesting, but instead I'm wondering how all these Genoa City people keep running into each other in a city as big as Los Angeles. That outdoor rooftop set -- which does seem to be a real place? -- is already in danger of overuse. I'm nitpicking -- again -- but I hate that table pushed up against the concrete wall. I can't see anyone choosing to sit there and feel closed in.

-- The use of "penis" in the opening scene was eye-opening, and I thought, "Good for them for going for it." -- By the end of the show, however, it was an exercise in excess. We get it. BTG says "penis penis penis" over and over and is adult and edgy. -- This show is so edgy we can use words like penis and hard and wood and make a ton of double entendres to make the audience howl!! -- Sorry, but it was all too much -- typical Ron Carlivati episode. -- I got a bigger laugh thinking about Tomas getting back into those very tight sweats after having his penis worked on. -- You want to be really edgy? How about some direct penis dialogue between Smitty and Martin? How about something a little more than the scene starting after an implied blowjob? -- I'm a nitpicker, thanks. I agree that June has WAY too much free time at OG's. It's also ridiculous that she's teaching Samantha what to post on social media for clicks. -- The Tyrell/Jessica stuff was actually some of the episode's best stuff. Both actors are natural and genuine -- and believable. -- I'm riding with this Hayley storyline, but I admit I'm worried they're making her come off as one stupid criminal. I'd rather see her as someone who's a threat because we believe she's dark as well as smart.

Agree with you about that couch, but the rest of the room is also horrendous. -- Those golden sconces are right out of a Trump casino. -- A "bookshelf" like that in the living room? -- That sofa table from Burlington. -- That dining table from IKEA. -- That window treatment in the hall from the Carol Burnett Gone With the Wind sketch. -- At least 3 floral arrangements in the room or within view. -- A rug laid from remnants of the carpet Joey used at his Golden Corral Casino.

Oh, I agree with you completely on that. Casey is a company man and a hack and a lackey who will do anything to keep his job. I don't think he'll ever step up to address any problems we think the show has. No one ignores viewer complaints more than Casey K.

Can't disagree with any of that. -- I love Slezak, who's doing good work, but what they're doing with Tracy ruins the story, and as you said, this will all be forgotten by next Easter. Rehabbing Tracy as a human and then doing this? Yes, it gives Jane Elliott some meaty scenes, but I hate when characters regress for plot convenience. -- I'm already on record that moving Tracy to Lulu's is ridiculous and something I don't ever see Tracy doing. And while I have no problem with a Josh Kelly/Erika Slezak reunion, those ENDLESS scenes of exposition today were painful. -- Gio and Lois had some nice scenes today. Giovanni and Rena both did really good work. -- The blocking in the Chase and Michael sauna scenes was special. 😂 I think the script directions said the boys should peacock around the room and strut their masculinity. -- The sauna set is up, so tomorrow we get a Carly in the sauna scene🤣
