  1. I'm typing out the 1/5/70-1/9/70 week now, and just realized this was the debut of AMC. Any guesses as to its first week rating/share? Maybe it's already out there somewhere.
  2. NIELSEN RATINGS SPOT CHECK: JANUARY 1971: (Note: Most preemption program info is now no longer listed on the chart pages, so that info will be coming at a later date).
  3. NIELSEN RATINGS SPOT CHECK: JANUARY 1972: In January 1968, for CBS only, 9 half-hour shows have their ratings listed by the quarter hour, with no final average that I can find: Andy of Mayberry, Dick Van Dyke Show, Love of Life, As the World Turns, Love Is a Splendored Thing, House Party, To Tell the Truth, Edge of Night and Secret Storm. In fact, since there is a 5-minute news program on after Love of Life, they can't even fit the 1210-1225PM Love of Life ratings on the chart, they are on another page that I do not have yet, so for the moment, we won't know those. But at least for 1968, the ABC and NBC shows will still have the "normal" ratings we are used to. And yes, Search and GL are the only 15-minute shows on the networks in January 1968.
  4. It looks like the ratings, as we know them, are only the same back to 1969. I looked at the January 1968 chart, and, as of that date, they are listing each 15-minute block based on the sponsor. They don't average out a half-hour show (unless it's the same sponsor for the whole half-hour), but list two separate ratings from 11-1115AM and 1115-1130AM for example. Of course, you can sort of get the average I guess if you add up both numbers and divide by two. But, at this point, looks like I will have to list both quarter-hour numbers for 1965-1968, since I don't feel like doing the averaging. I was hoping things would stay the same until at least Days had premiered in November 1965, but my guess is the change happens at the beginning of the season in September 1968.
  5. We'll find out tomorrow if she's on staff at Days, or just writing a few freelance scripts. So she's either gone in a few weeks, or might leave with Ron/Chris in April.
  6. LYNN MARTIN WRITES HER FIRST "DAYS" SCRIPT... Lynn Martin was credited with her first script today (November 11) on "Days of Our Lives." Martin started her daytime career writing for "The City" from 1996-1997. She then wrote for "Port Charles" in 1998; "Another World" 1998-1999; "As the World Turns" 1999-2005 and "The Young and the Restless" from 2018-2024. Martin was born in Washington, DC. She is married and has two daughters.
  7. NIELSEN RATINGS SPOT CHECK: JANUARY 1973:
  8. NIELSEN RATINGS SPOT CHECK: While we are waiting for the arrival of 1974, I have some good news for ratings fans! We now have a small amount of ratings info for the first few weeks of each year from 1965-1974. This will provide a good spot check as to how all the daytime shows were doing at the beginning of each year. Only the ratings, shares and full preemption data is available for now. No stations, percentage covered or partial preemption info, but at least it's something to enjoy until the full 1974 data shows up! I will post each year from 1965-1974 backwards, starting with 1974: NIELSEN RATINGS SPOT CHECK: JANUARY 1974: Days is the top soap for the week of 1/7/74-1/11/74, woohoo!! 😃
  9. Josh Taylor and Ken Corday both joined the show around the same time in 1977, so they've been pretty close friends for the past 47 years. They probably bonded a little being the "new guys" at the show in 1977.

Belle & Shawn's Den (which at the time was also used as Hernandez Den). Now they have brought back Hernandez Kitchen.
  12. I know a lot about the show that I don't reveal. It's hard to have sources for the past 25 years if you reveal all you know. Especially in regards to any strike writers!
  13. That would put her appearance, which says AFTER her freshman year of college, if she went at 18, to around June 1984, which is the month that Cheatin' Heart made its debut (originally known just as Seedy Bar). So, with Days taping less than a month ahead at the time, there's a chance she could have been in the first ever episode of the Cheatin' Heart! 4731...6/13/84: Cast: Alice, Mickey, Don, Marlena, Abe, Roman, Chris, Bo, Melissa, Pete, Tess, Carlo, Maxwell, Orby, Speed, Diane, Barney, Girl # 1, Girl # 2, Girl # 3, Man. I have the parking clearance lists for 6/8, 6/11, 6/14 and 6/15 but am missing the 6/13 Cheatin' Heart debut.
  14. The hard work was compiling the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's in the 2000's. Been pretty easy since then! Thanks for the compliment!! 😀

  16. He started recurring, then was on contract for less than 5 months. His son, Kevin, was brought on as contract, but then fired 8 weeks after his debut, so based on that, it would seem the Cates storyline (whether with Richard or just his son Kevin) was scheduled to be longer than it ended up being. You wouldn't normally put someone on contract and only use them for 8 weeks (and then be stuck paying them an additional 5 weeks).

  18. I did remember a post about that. I see I posted that in the 10/24/23 episode credits, his name was moved to recurring. But then it was immediately moved back to his same contract position in the credits. So, I just never changed anything in his stats.
  19. ALEXANN HOPKINS JOINS "DAYS" CAST ON CONTRACT AS JOY WESLEY... AlexAnn Hopkins made her "Days" debut today, October 22, on contract, per today's credits. Hopkins made her TV debut on an "America's Most Wanted" reenactment in 2009. She has had guest stints on "The Goldbergs", "Speechless", "Chicago PD" and "Criminal Minds" as well as appearing as Trixie Dean on the CMT series "Sun Records" in 2017. Hopkins was born June 21, 1999 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. AL CALDERON JOINS "DAYS" CAST NEXT WEEK IN CONTRACT ROLE... 20. I had to purchase 1985-1990 in order to get the scene logs for those years, so yes, I had to go through those. 1965-1984 come from the scripts.
  21. Yes, that's my first-ever memory of Days! I remember Monty pulling the plug on Rosa in her hospital room, that's the first scene I can remember seeing live on TV. I guess I was home sick from school that day. I had watched very briefly in the summer of 1988 (no memory of those episodes), more consistently in the summer of 1989, and finally started full time in summer of 1990.
  22. Michael Bays was Julio. A lot of fans didn't think that. When Billy Hufsey was first fired in 1989, Days got so much fan mail demanding he be brought back, that he was immediately re-hired and back on the air 3 months later.
  23.
