Yes! It reminds of when GH just started killing off Quartermaines just to do something. Such a long-term mistake. They've had to backtrack and try to reestablish that family.

EXACTLY! He had so much potential. I never understood why the romance with Summer was never developed. The character should have simply left town...maybe to move close to Nina. Killing Chances was so unneeded. I couldn't even watch today. I just throw my hands up in the air with this show at this point.

Why bring in a brother for Nate only to have him just as quickly killed? Why kill Chance...the only blood Chancellor left on the show and a character we watched grow up as a child? For two seconds of conflict that none of the characters seemed to even worry about right after his death? Poor Nina! After all she's been through. WHAT. THE. HELL. WAS. THE. POINT? Chance, Damian, Cole, Heather...all senseless dyings with absolutely no on-going story potential. It's like at this point JG is just killing people off without any idea of what else to do besides boring corporate take over stories? When in God's name are we getting another writer, and is it already too late?

I can't even with this show anymore. Chance...a legacy character. For what???

I may not have watched DAYS faithfully the past few years, but I did watch the episodes for Doug's funeral. I found SSH performance to be extremely moving and some of the best episodes the show had done in a very long time. Looking at the nominees, some are head scratchers. What was the amazing material some of them even had to play?

Wow...the triple shooting was just so out of nowhere and ho-hum. I've been watching the first season of the show on Tubi. The level of writing back in 1987 was 1,000X better, more nuanced, and more developed than anything the show churns out today. Sure, as a new soap, there were some things that needed to be ironed out and tweaked, but overall, sooooo much better than we get now. Just SF Stephanie has so many layers, and there's so much subtext in the performances. Now, we just get looney Luna shooting people while her "him-bot" daddy repeats dialogue in his office over and over.

ITA. The show desperately needs new...and some younger...blood! Put Katie on recurring and let HT focus on directing and writing. I think the following characters should be rested and/or written out... Katie Poppy (has to be soon anyways) Daphne Taylor (I feel for RB, but she just ain't Taylor) Sheila (all her bite is already gone) Liam (but I doubt they'd do that) Electra (horrible name and no real point to this character) Bill (perhaps recurring though) That's EIGHT slots open right there. Create a struggling fashion house upstart that also...finally...includes a gay character. Cast a Latino character or two since it is Los Angeles, for heaven's sake! Introduce an actually compelling younger generation that Will can be a part of. All these characters could be part of the upstart company. Stop repeating, boring, incestuous love triangles. Finally give Brooke a new man! Maybe dive into why she keeps throwing herself at Ridge despite him tossing her out like trash over and over...daddy issues from what her father did for sure! Finn has always come across to me as a brainless sex-bot for Steffy. Show his dark side that he maybe inherited from Sheila.

This story would have been 1,000 times better and actually got the audience invested.

The show is dangerously close to being The Tired and the Exhausted. The show is sooo in the need for some younger, fresh characters not bogged down in decades of history and has-nots trying to improve their lot in life. Right now, practically everyone is "super rich and successful." Where's the conflict in that?

I agree. He was SUPER stiff when he started, but he's improved immensely...and he is quite the piece of eye candy. Just the booty alone. Yes, I know the actor is older than him...but Ted still looks like he could be Martin's younger brother. I think NuTed is the better actor, but I'm not quite sure he's physically is right for the role. He looks soooo young! I mean, good for the actor. It is nice seeing all of these various characters and subplots connecting with Martin's secret.

And, this has been going on for years and years and years and years..."Billionaires" talking about taking over this vague company or that vague company or people talking about who's going to work at this vague company or that vague company. Why in God's name do TPTB think their viewers care about these kind of stories? The REALLY sad part is that Billy Flynn has chemistry with Lily. Imagine if he had been a brand new character or some other mystery man with a different connection with Lily. It would all be sooooo much better.

ITA. My teenage self had a huge crush on CN and was so sad when he was replaced. Also, Tubi now has the early seasons to watch on demand as well!

Saddling Billy Flynn with Cane's baggage instead of giving him a fresh new character is just like what B&B did with Rebecca B and making her a....suddenly...much younger Taylor. Both actors deserved so much better.

I tuned in just to see the Billy Flynn reveal. He looked amazing, but... As soon as Amanda said that Dumas wanted to meet with Lily one-on-one, I was like..."Oh, God. Not Cane." Yep. Casting BF as Cane is head-scratcher. As others mentioned, a fresh new character with no baggage would have been so much better. I don't know if we'll ever see Mattie or Charlie again since they SORAS'ed them waaaaaay too soon in the past. Lily and Cane will no way look like they could be parents to people in their mid-20s. The show just continues to be such a snooze under JG.

AHHHH...another good point. We haven't really gotten many "man-candy" shots on this show! What's up with that?? LOL I kinda felt a little disappointed by her posting, too. I mean...it's a soap! You're ALWAYS going to have viewers with differing opinions on how it should go. The point is that they're TALKING ABOUT IT! When they stop talking about the show, that's when you need to worry! Plus, it's the first year of the show. I would think it would be essential to hear what viewers think so far, so that you can adjust as needed. Some things, such as Derek and Ashley, clearly aren't working no matter how you try to spin it. The characters really didn't work from Episode 1. I still think those two characters were sort of forced into the show by the network who wanted at least one white couple, so they're not very thought out. There's a lot I like about the show, but, of course, it's not going to be perfect! The comment sort of came of as "I don't care if you like the show or watch it and your opinions don't matter as an audience." Not a good vibe. Maybe MVJ was having a bad day or something.

YESSSSSSS!!! This. It feels like most characters were already hooked up when the show began. We didn't see any of them falling in love to begin with. Ashely and Derek continue to a be a snoozefest for me, but it would have been more interesting to see them meet in episode 1 and watch their relationship develop. I have no idea how these two met, what they saw in each other, etc etc. A story beat I wish were explored much more was the face that Naomi and Hayley were besties in the past before Hayley hooked up with Bill. How did that REALLY impact Naomi? How was Bill and Hayley's relationship first exposed? Etc etc. It might have been more interesting to have that relationship exposed in the first week versus the two of them already getting married. Still, Naomi and Hayley have had very little interaction to define their relationship.

I thought the show seemed to be floundering the month leading up to the engagement party which at times was downright boring, but since then, they seemed to have found a rhythm that mostly works. I would still slightly pick up some of the pace though or make some of the smaller story beats "bigger" if that makes sense. Sometimes there feels like there's a lack of strong "OMG" drama beats. The one thing that the show is still missing, IMO, is a pair of star-crossed lovers. We really don't have much romance on this show much less a couple we're rooting to get together who are being kept apart by outside sources. For me, this is an essential soap element that the show doesn't have. Since most characters are related to each other in some way, I don't even think there are two characters that could be paired with each other in this way. I think Kat/Tomas/Eva has some potential for a triangle, but that's about it. Does anyone else find there's a lack of romance on this soap?
