GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
In any case you have to admire the skill it takes to manage to tweet something so abhorrent that all his colleagues, including many he had good relations with, are overshadowing the "bittersweet" news of his exit by dumping on him for being an ass. Couldn't have faked it being about principle long enough for his long-foreshadowed victimhood PR plan to work. I really missed something here, it seems. I thought everyone loved her!

GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
Why is CH mentioned? Did I miss something? Is she, oh god no, a anti-vaxxer too?

Was also happy to see Maura W. speak out on the transphobia. Such good riddance.

Days of Our Lives: November 2021 Discussion Thread
I am obviously glad Days was renewed but let's be real A MarDevil killing everyone story, a mix of Salem Stalker, possession story and the Loving ending story, was RC's idea for the ending story for Days if the show wasn't going to be renewed, wasn't it?

GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
I am completely speculating since I have never met the guy but I suspect the Big Name would have gotten the vaccine if the mandate had not been publicized But now that they said that only vaccinated actors can work on the show, with an ego like his, staying on would be sending the signal that he caved for money and I guess that's not the public image he wants to send. As Vee said, despite knowing his politics, I thought the bottom line would be more important but now I wonder if not being able to do it on the downlow meant he had to pick which hill to die on. Additionally, I suspect he figures all this will blow over and be irrelevant in a couple of years (and at the pace at which the American public seems to forget horrors of merely six months ago, maybe even sooner) and that he will be able to return with fanfare, like he did despite his bitter departure the first time around.

All : Storyline risks that didn't pay off.
I don't want to derail the thread but as an aside this is my number one gripe with Bell and B&B. He gets us invested in relationships and write years of stories around them but is ready to chuck them in a handful of episodes or, even worse, off-screen. Maya/Rick were popular; destroying them as a throwaway line is just such a spit in the face of invested viewers. Same with killing off Caroline off-screen. I hate that stuff. You can't get viewers invested in a character or couple and then have massive things happen off-screen, briefly mentioned and then ignored forever.

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
I seem to remember it was agreed they had good chemistry. The fact they faded in the background had more to do with whoever was writing the show not being interested or inspired by the characters than a lack of popularity. As a matter of fact, that was a recurring problem with Shana who writers often didn't seem to know what to do with but I guess had enough support within the fandom and SK being enough of a name that they kept her around.

Days of Our Lives: November 2021 Discussion Thread
I fully agree with everything you said but in all fairness, if I remember correctly, he was the one who didn't want to stay. I *still* wouldn't have gone that route, especially on his second run, but it was on him wanting to do indie stuff or whatever.

100% agree with that. This would have been PERFECT for that platform and better if it has stayed out of the main show.

All : Storyline risks that didn't pay off.
I mean, I agree with a lot of the comments so far but I feel most of them were not truly a *risk*. A gamble is different from a bad decision that didn't pay off. Most of the storylines mentioned above are awful but they were not a risk per se. A risk would be a headwriter knowing something they write might really piss of the audience but writing it anyway thinking it might be so great as to be worth it. Ridge/Bridget definitely a good example. Erica's unabortion too: if Josh had been a great character this might not be remembered as uniformly negatively as it is now (inversely because OLTL's Natalie worked as a character, the retcon of her birth paid off).

Unpopular opinions: cancelled soaps edition
It is funny how much of this could word for word be written about Carlivati's work on Days or the later years of OLTL. As a matter of fact I'd argue there is a lot in common between them.

B&B October 2021 Discussion Thread
I don't think they are going to bring back psycho Quinn right now. They have teased her in "that state" many times since she was "redeemed" but never went there afterwards. And with Sheila around, it will feel redundant to have two psychos running around at the same time. That being said, going from her embarassment of riches a month ago to potentially losing Eric to Donna and Carter to Katie would be a logical point for her to unravel. On a side note, if they were going for full on camp with the ED/Cuckold storyline, they are missing a beat if they are not giving us a scene of Wyatt hearing about it all.

Really? I had always heard the idea was from Jim Davis

I'd watch that! But everything surrounding Amanda has been so dreadful. God Bless MM and the great cast playing her family giving it their all because the writing void - both in quality and in quantity - has been appalling.

The reformed trope
Flo's was particularly insulting since it consisted of literally two steps: - writing a storyline in which they ruined another beloved character to turn Flo into a victim - She is Storm's daugher. = Redemption three months after her crimes! I wouldn't put Brooke and Bill's transgressions in the same category. And ironically I'd say more characters still bring up past of/resent/call these two characters out than they do the outright criminals like Quinn and Flo

Funnily enough I didn't even realize I was posting the episodes themselves but was focused on the link for people to offer their input. I hadn't even thought of it that way; but now that you say it you are right. Removing the link.

Days: 'Deceased Former Baddies' Return
I understand this logic and I understand why they wanted to wipe the slate clean but it is just not working as Jake - and I love BB. Even the chemistry with Gabi is not the same. Maybe we will change our mind if they later find a way to use him differently but so far it has been at best disappointing.

Y&R November 2021 Discussion Thread
I mean I thought it was pretty established he was out for good. He did the rounds with rather bitter and acrimonious interviews which, legitimate his grievances might be, is exactly how NOT to preserve your chances for a return under a more benevolent producing team (the Victoria Rowell syndrom).

The reformed trope
It is funny coz I wrote a long comment along those lines and then deleted it because I know Phyllis is a touchy subject. But This. I fully agree with you and I thought of the same thing. At least Michael and Kevin still have a rascally wink-wink attitude to misdeeds of others. But Phyllis has become the worst kind of "reformed character": she is not just a citizen of good standing in their universe, but she has the gall to be high-and-mighty and judgemental to others for their considerably more minor transgressions. And other characters enable her without anyone calling her out on it in any significant way. You could easily have had Sharon overhear one of Phyllis' rants against Sally and commiserate with Sally on how hypocritical Phyllis is being. And that would have had the benefit of setting up even a minor interaction between Sally and Sharon which would become awkward later once Sally started dating Adam. But at least some sense that Phyllis has a past. Nowadays it is belittled as her being a spitfire or something. She attempted to murder at least two people!

Hum. Seems like a flimsy reason to pick a father of your child - I mean his hair was great but... The story once it got going was fine and I liked that triangle but I always wished for a slightly more solid reason for her to pick him at the outset considering the enormous obvious complications it would bring.

GENERAL HOSPITAL November 2021 Discussion Thread
I noticed that too but, while I don't know the context of this photo, there seems to be a lot of character involved at once which probably makes it a set piece and those can mean a LOOOOONG day for them. If it was taken at 8pm when they were on set at 5am, that might explain the grumpiness

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
See. I have rewatched some of these episodes since they have been recently posted and maybe my brain farted at the exact same time it did on the first watch thirty years ago but I once again found myself confused why Shana wanted LEO's sperm specifically, especially since she didn't like him at that time. I understand that she had something to lord over him but why not go through a more regular process with an anonymous donor, you know, without the complications? Was it because she wanted it to go fast and doing it directly like this (which involves a lot of unrealistic logistics) would go faster? Would it really though? Was there any explicit reason why she wanted HIS or was it, as I suspect, a plot convenience that was explained away with a throwaway line?
