Preemptions due to hearings
Yeah I don't want to see the baby death episode either. As I said earlier in the thread, GH seems to choose reruns of episodes that have characters or scenarios that are connected to the currently-airing stories or upcoming stories. I speculate that they chose today's rerun to be the one about Sasha's baby's death ... because she is in upcoming spoilers regarding her stress etc. Either that or they just thought randomly "What's a really dramatic episode we can throw in the queue for a rerun? Oh the baby death, that's dramatic, let's use that." Not realizing that NOBODY wanted to watch that at Christmas and nobody wants to see it again.

Preemptions due to hearings
A couple of years ago, GH gave the excuse that they can go back only a few years for reruns, due to some legal copyright thing or whatever. I think it was something about the music/soundtrack being embedded in older clips and they don't have the copyright to the music and they can't strip it out? I might have it wrong but it's something ridiculously convoluted like that. I don't really believe it. Supposedly that's why the GH summer 2020 pandemic reruns were all fairly recent. Meanwhile B&B and Y&R went back decades for their summer 2020 pandemic reruns.

Preemptions due to hearings
Today Tues. June 21, GH in Canada (and some parts of US) got a rerun of episode 14874 from Dec 17, 2021. This is a recap: https://soaps.sheknows.com/general-hospital/recaps/617857/general-hospital-brando-sasha-say-goodbye-liam-mike-ghost-return/ Interesting. On June 16, due to the hearings, GH repeated Dec. 15, 2021. So that's repeats of two different episodes from the same week.

Preemptions due to hearings
NBC doesn't care. And for this specific episode, that's really a shame. Juneteenth is a holiday with a specific history. On January 1, 1863, Lincoln issued the final Emancipation Proclamation, declaring that all enslaved persons in the Confederate States of America in rebellion and not in Union hands were freed. It took a long time for the truth to be spread. In some states, human beings were still being used in slavery for over two years after the proclamation. The word didn't arrive in Texas until June 19, 1865. (Hence the holiday being celebrated June 19). The irony is that the current congressional hearings are about the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol by an armed mob carrying Confederate flags who erected a gallows with a noose. And the fact that in some states the election officials were being pressured to lie about the election results. These hearings are about the truth. I wanted the hearings to air and not the soaps. I can see NBC disregarding Days if it were a random soap episode about a lovers quarrel, a triangle, a murder mystery, a generic soap wedding, or whatever soapy stuff. But in this case, for Days episode #14360 about Juneteenth, I think they should have called a preemption, and aired the episode the next day. In my opinion, I think viewers should see both the hearings and this special episode -- so just postpone the episode.

Update CBS finally took down (or made private) the youtube - they finally noticed that they had inadvertently uploaded it two days early. It's no longer visible evenin the US. Maybe they'll re-upload it Wednesday when the episode airs. You can still see the end of the clip in the tweet behind the spoiler tag.- The Media/Journalism Thread
Agree on all points. Seattle Times does a lot of service. I will reconsider having myself allow ads for their site. They covered COVID-19 in depth daily since January 2020 before anyone else (because the first US cases were noticed near Seattle) (Of course we now know COVID was in New York in autumn 2019 but nobody knew that back then). NYTimes *used to be* "all the news that's fit to print" but hasn't been that for a very very long time. And yeah WAPO being part of the amazon conglomerate, enough said. And not paying their employees enough.- Preemptions due to hearings
A lot of Days is not worth watching. But this episode (June 21) of Days is worth watching because it has a wedding and the history of Juneteenth in it.- Preemptions due to hearings
Since 2015, DAYS has had national preemptions *only* for sports and presidential inaugurations (if you count the November dog show as "sports" ) . Jason's stats: https://www.jason47.com/days/preemptions.html In contrast. GH calls preemptions for many news events. CBS preempts a moderate amount of time. B&B preempts more often than Y&R because B&B is a 30-minute show, so it's easier for a news event to override most of the episode. For CBS, it also depends on the timeslot. On June 13, when the hearing was at 10:00 am EDT, Y&R was preempted but B&B aired. On June 16, when the hearing was at 1:00 pm EDT, B&B was preempted but Y&R aired. (Actually on June 16, most of the US didn't see Y&R, but the hearing overrode only half of the Y&R episode in the Eastern timezone, so Y&R considered it "aired" and posted the episode online, and then aired a new episode the following day)- B&B: Sheila & Li spoiler
Per SOD, in this same episode, Ken Hanes reappears as Mike Guthrie. I wonder if he assists with causing Li to crash?- The Media/Journalism Thread
I've been reading the Seattle TImes with an adblocker for years. No subscription. No limit in number of views. Oh and that's another tip .. Seattle Times reprints articles for free from New York Times, Washington Post, Reuters, etc. If there's something on one of those other news sites, I just input the name of the article or a few key words and find it the same thing on seattletimes.com It might be a few hours later or the next day, but it's there. If I think the *original* article has since been updated, I got back to the original newspaper to find the updated version.- The Media/Journalism Thread
I don't want independent newspapers to go out of business, so I buy subscriptions when I can afford to. Sometimes it's a single article for a publication I wouldn't normally read, so I don't want to subscribe. Furthermore, some years I can barely afford rent and food, and I simply cannot afford ANY subscriptions. This is my simple workaround in such situations: Many newspapers allow a certain number of free articles within a specific time period (day, month, whatever). Or a certain number of free articles in your personal lifetime. After you have exceeded the allowed number of views, it asks for paid subscription. The simplest solution (for me) is to delete my cookies from that one news site, and then it immediately resets to zero and I can again see the specified number of free articles. Simple and easy. If that doesn't work, then I try what others have suggested above.- B&B: Sheila & Li spoiler
Fyi, the YT might be US-visible only unless you have a VPN. Here is the end of the clip for those who can't see the YT- B&B: Sheila & Li spoiler

Preview video of GH 15,000th episode Every weekend, GH uploads a "sneak peek" video clip of scenes from the upcoming Monday episode. It's available on abc.com's GH page as "latest clips". Also on hulu.com's GH page if you click on "extras". GH had assumed that the 15,000th episode would air Monday June 20th, so they uploaded a clip from the 15,000th. Then the June 16th preemption moved the 15,000th episode to the next airdate (June 21 or June 22). GH tried for a "do-over". GH intended to make a *new* clip for the episode that will air Monday June 2O, and they posted this description for it: "GH Sneak: Esme meets with Kevin in his office and says she could use his help getting into a prestigious psychology program at school. She wants to do a case study on Ryan Chamberlain. Will he give her what she wants?" GH uploaded that *description*... to abc.com and hulu.com That Esme/Kevin scene description really is a legit spoiler for Monday, June 20, 2022. But If you click on the link for the Esme/Kevin clip ... it's actually a clip with Laura, Kevin and friends for the 15,000th episode! It's here https://abc.com/shows/general-hospital/video/vdka28472397 and here https://www.hulu.com/watch/7131ade9-d6b3-4736-babf-54bd5e3b96fe Look for the picture of Esme, and click, and you'll see the video of Laura and friends. So there you have it: A typed Esme/Kevin spoiler for Monday June 20, and a video clip for the 15,000th episode which will air Tues June 21 or Wed June 22. PS. I apologize for derailing this spoiler thread with pictures from the June 16 episode that already aired. But anyways. In that June 16 episode, Ashley and Victoria were in their New York hotel suite discussing what business ventures they wish to pursue in the future. They discussed starting their own company in New York. It will be completely independent of Newman-Locke stuff. A brand new venture. Victoria said she wants to have nothing to do with Newman and that their new company should not have the Newman name associated with it. She's going to be new and independent. Then they discussed starting a rival media company. (I know, I know, I'm tired of media company storylines, too. Sigh.) Victoria said "I would like to do something, then, more than just, you know, your standard media enterprise. I’d love to somehow be able to use my art background. You know, find a way to bring the fine arts into the digital age." Well okay that was something actually relevant to her character so I really like that. Week of June 20th spoiler: Victoria phones Nick and references in an off-hand way a few business meetings in New York City. She intentionally speaks in a way that Nick will figure out that she is starting a rival company. Victoria’s strategy is that she hopes that Nick will mention this to Victor. She wants Victor to know what she is up to. Victor will get upset, but this is part of some convoluted strategy. J.Griffith says something about how Victoria is playing chess and is thinking many chess moves ahead than Victor might expect. That scene in the "next week on Y&R" video - Nick asks Victor "Can I see you outside? I heard from Victoria" - that's this. Nick is about to tell Victor what Victoria is up to. Just as she hoped he would do. -------------------- My thoughts: How dumb. Why does JG think this is interesting? I would much rather see Victoria run an art business that stands on its own and is complete within itself. I am not interested in Victoria trying to start a business rivalry with Victor. Victoria is over 55 years old. She doesn't need to be thinking about her father. Sigh.- Y&R: Old Articles
