Star Trek: Picard
And they're in STARFLEET (yes I'm shouting, LOL), I mean really, they are supposed to be the best of the best of many planets. They would have been required to have resolved their deep psychological issues before becoming officers on ships with important missions! The season two Picard with the trauma of repressing his mother's suicide. Come on? Really the Starfleet psychologists never uncovered this before? Totally unlikely.

Days: February 2023 Discussion Thread
Just watched today Monday Feb 27 and Nicole remembers her history with Eric and they used flashbacks with both Jensen Ackles and Greg Vaughan! This episode was really great! It's been so long since I really enjoyed an episode. The Ericole stuff was wonderful. And other storylines happened too. If anyone hasn't seen Beyond Salem Two, watch it ASAP because the events from it were discussed today. Per @Toups 's request, I won't spoil BS2 for those who haven't seen it yet, but you really need to see it. Things from today in the main show will make more sense.

I haven't been following the video game storyline. It seems like a variation on all the other business storylines. Or maybe the podcast storylines. I like Daniel but I finally stopped reading recaps in depth. Everything is so blah. The *idea* of a transformational videogame is great, but JG can't write. I sort of check in on Daniel in the recaps, because I liked him and Lily together as teens. But the show is currently so bad, I can't make myself watch it.

I'm also surprised Heather and Lucy are gone already. In the past week, there was something about a bracelet (I'm skimming recaps so I don't have all the details) and the color blue - which helped Daniel and Lily reconnect, and something about the way he treated them when they lived in Savannah. She was glad he was willing to listen to her express how he had disappointed her. She was sort of *starting to* forgive him a little. Not there yet, but some sort of start was made in connecting. On Friday, there was some dialogue about Daniel and Lucy remaining connected via video chat. And then Daniel suggested he and Lucy could vist each other (someday whenever Lucy is ready) - in Genoa City, in Portugal, or any other location they choose; and Lucy agreed. But it was sort of a vague general idea, because Lucy is still guarded and not ready yet. Heather made a point of saying that Lucy is in school in Portugal, and this visit was a quick vacation and they needed to get back to Portugal so that Lucy could go back to school. And Heather has a litigation to prepare for, in her work as an attorney in Portugal. I guess the point of Heather's visit was to tell Daniel she has a new boyfriend in Portugal, so that the show can pair Daniel and Lily. They went to all the trouble of casting Lucy, and she's gone already?

Last month before he left, Danny visited with Christine at Crimson Lights. Her dialogue confirmed to the viewers that she's still married to Paul. Danny told Christine that Paul and Christine are invited to see him perform sometime. I just skimmed the past week's recaps ... Monday 20 Feb - Heather and Lucy said they were going to visit Paul and Christine. Friday 24 Feb - Heather and Lucy mentioned they had visited Paul and Christine (it was offscreen of course LOL). Then they returned to Portugal. They took an Uber from the Grand Phoenix to the airport. I'm surprised the show is still pushing "Paul is in Genoa City". As we know from DougD's tweets, he hasn't taped in years.

Wil Wheaton interviews Ed Speleers on the Ready Room. (Whether you like Wheaton's interview style or not, this episode is great.) The first 8 minutes is the ship design/production crew, showing how they created the enemy ship The Shrike. Then great interview with Speleers that lasts about 18 minutes. Beverly's two sons LOL. but mainly Speleers talking about his experiences. Then about 4 or 5 minutes of how they created the set and props for "District 6" the sleazy district where Raffi was looking for answers, and interesting tidbits about set pieces borrowed from the sets of other Trek series. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2dt8t4VZZk That youtube is geoblocked outside US but if you can't see it, try here: https://www.startrek.com/videos/the-ready-room-picard-ed-speleers-jack-crusher

Y&R: Week 27 Feb: preview clips, promo "Is the reward worth the risk?" , +spoilers
I posted the above vids, spoilers, dailies, etc, just because ... it's actually a lot of nothing. And as an example of the endless nothingness to come when JG does most of the writing. All the Ashley/Tucker/Devon/Lily stuff is just variations on the same plots over and over. The Diane/Jeremy stuff has been repeating for many months. It's unlikely that JG will make Nate/Victoria go anywhere. Most of the spoiler pics in SOD every week ... are characters at restaurants holding to-go coffee cups, standing or sitting and talking. Once in a while a character is shown sitting on the park bench. Sometimes the characters are shown in a hotel room. Usually, the only thing I get from these pictures are "these two characters will share a scene". Sometimes the pictures show the two characters staring intently. The semi-interesting pics are at the Abbott home or the Newman office. Yawn.

Gannett owns USA Today and all local newspapers in the USA Today network, including The Detroit Free Press, the Indianapolis Star, and The Tennessean, among others. "Recent discriminatory comments by the creator, Scott Adams, have influenced our decision to discontinue publishing his comic. While we respect and encourage free speech, his views do not align with our editorial or business values as an organization," a Gannett spokesperson said in a statement. "At Gannett, we lead with inclusion and strive to maintain a respectful and equitable environment for the diverse communities we serve nationwide," the statement continued.

Maggie is so annoyingly extremely pro-Xander. ugh. (And Bonnie, too.) They kept trying to pressure Sarah to stay married to Xander. I can see why Sarah wouldn't want Maggie (or anyone in the Kiriakis home) to know that Xander is the father.

But did you see this: From the dailies: Thursday, March 2: Sarah receives shocking news. Maggie wants to know what Rex's intentions are concerning her daughter. Friday, March 3: Rex offers Sarah a solution to her problem. I *assume* that means this: Sarah thinks she's pregnant and tells Rex. Maggie sees Rex chatting with (or hugging) Sarah; and thus Maggie jumps to conclusions. Then Rex offers to pretend to be the baby's father because Sarah doesn't want to have anything more to do with Xander. (But my assumptions are often wrong with this show.)- Days Weekly Promo

MLive runs 8 newspapers in Michigan. MLive made an official statement that they are no longer carrying the comic strip Dilbert, due to some horribly racist things the comic's creator Scott Adams said on his video show. The editor said "I will not characterize Adams’ racist views or even provide a link to the video. If you are curious enough to subject yourself to that garbage, I’m sure your search engine or social media will guide you to it. My advice: Save yourself the poison." https://www.mlive.com/news/2023/02/scott-adams-cancels-himself-dilbert-comic-strip-with-racist-diatribe-on-social-media.html The editor of the Cleveland's The Plain Dealer made statement saying they are no longer carrying Dilbert for the same reason. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2023/02/we-are-dropping-the-dilbert-comic-strip-because-of-creator-scott-adams-racist-rant-letter-from-the-editor.html He gave one example of what Adams said and added this regarding Adams: "He says a lot more in the video, mostly hateful and racist, all viewable on Youtube. [a link to the youtube] It’s a staggering string of statements, all but certain to result in the loss of his livelihood. I hate to quote him at all, but I do so to dissuade responses that this is a ‘cancel culture’ decision." The Plain Dealer's editor added: "we are part of Advance Local, and the leaders in all Advance Local newsrooms independently have made the same decision we did to stop running the strip. That includes newspapers in Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Alabama, Massachusetts and Oregon." The editors indicated that it's possible that Dilbert may appear once or twice more in one or more of the papers if it was already sent to print, but henceforth it will be replaced with a gray rectangle until each paper chooses a replacement comic or rearranges their comics layout. ___________________________ In contrast to this ... the Daily Beast has a big scandalous headline and quotes the full Scott Adams racist rant and embeds a video link to him saying it. Nick said today that he hates Will Horton. Nick said he is glad that Will's grandmothers and Aunt Kayla were dead, because that causes Will to suffer. The previous Billy/Chelsea rapemance (with Burgess Jenkins playing Billy) shouldn't have happened then, either, regardless of whoever wrote that then. As I said in my earlier post, most soaps have done rapemances but it was never okay. My point was, that network execs and Sony should know better nowadays and put a stop to that crap. - Days Weekly Promo
