I actually forgot he played Fen. Did he have any stories?

If I remember correctly, nope, I can remember them "chem-testing" he and Loren Lott's Ana. Fans and even both actors were excited for the possibility, but not long after, both were gone, and that's what they all wrote.

Oh, that's right! They were trying to break Fen into the music business, with Ana supporting him. But it wasn't memorable, and it seemed during that era every young male legacy character had to be a musician of some kind, i.e., Devon, Noah, etc.

Unless they bring Diana, this should fizzle in two months. Will they go with Bill/Sheila/Deacon triangle?

In the meantime, I fully expect some entertaining Sheila/Bill scenes with Brooke, Taylor, etc. but that can only go so far. If Brad really put some effort, Sheila attempting to reconnect with Finn would be interesting.

Of course, this new freedom allows Sheila to show up in Genoa City for Y&R's 50th Anniversary. There's no way that Sheila/Lauren can be omitted from this season.

Well Brad did say that he will be bringing on characters from legacy families so maybe Diana or Mary will pop up sometime soon. Then again this is the same Bradley Bell who said last year that Thomas will get a love interest but didn't.

I'm not watching the show anymore but they did that montage a few months ago. Just repeating the same sh!t.  They have no more story for Shelia. She needs to be written out.

Exactly! I'm like is she drugging Bill like Sheila did Stephanie all those years ago? It feels like Brad pulled this twist out of his ass because he knows Sheila still being on canvas without much happening doesn't make sense.

I think a lot of those rumors were made up by a Kevin and/or Lucy stan at the time, but I think some of them had a basis in truth re: RC/FV plans. Regardless, yes, I definitely have a lot of ideas of how you could use Christina and Serena today. Though I would make Christina a somewhat spiky and provocative writer, not a doctor. (And Gina Tognoni would be playing Dr. Sarah Webber with a ready-made husband and children as part of an experiment la the UK soaps, introducing a family all at once which you could then dismantle, but that's a topic I've well-trod before.) Anyway, the show is what it is: Boring as hell, full of played out characters.

I figured those rumors were made up, especially the one about Christina coming to town and accusing Scotty of abusing her. That was some Lucy and Kevin Stan, for sure, who came up with that one.

Sarah having a ready-made family is a good idea. Especially if she relocates from California to Port Charles to become the hospital's new chief of staff, which would have been great to have Hardy back in charge after all these years.

What kills me about Serena and Schroeder is that there is built in goodwill there.  The audience already wants to see her.  She looked great, she was a capable actress, she has important ties but as an adult is a blank slate.  She should have been added to the show.

And the thing was that when she came back, I think she said either in SOD or SID that she wanted to come back for a longer stint. But FV wasted that goodwill and Carly is serving in the armed forces which good for her.

She exists. Kevin and Lucy have referenced her. The Port Charles connection is complicated and I think the point of that very confusing and muddled story was to suggest that the magic ring from PC had made people forget a lot about those characters and that world. I don't think anything suggests Christina does not still exist or is not recalled though. And Karen is still dead. So characters who directly overlap with core characters and are relevant to their GH continuity have been retained IMO. It's only characters like Livvie, etc. who have either been wiped from existence or forgotten due to the spell. So Serena and Christina are still in play.

I hope so! I know Serena is definitely still in play although I don't get why they don't recast. I always wanted Christina to come to town as a doctor following the footsteps of her stepfather Kevin and bio mother Julie. I remember the rumor going around years ago when Ron was there when Kevin was keeping going off to Seattle that he was visiting Christina who was dealing with mental issues. Don't know if that was true or not. Not to mention around that time they were talks to bring back Carly Schroeder as Serena. But we all know how that turned out.

Willow and Sasha are two indistinguishable white chicks to me. Willow can simply die of her cancer or more mob shenanigans to drive the point home about the mob problem, and sadsack Michael needs a long break from the canvas, same as Maxie. Sasha can vanish in the ladies' room like Beth Ehlers on AMC.

In a way, they're still like that to me. I remember before one of them got highlights, I used to get them mixed up. I will forever say this, but I feel like I should be seeing Serena and Christina Baldwin on my screen. Yeah, I know Christina doesn't exist anymore due to "Port Charles" being a figment of imagination, but they did mention Christina when Ron was there twice. And Kristina and Molly don't have any story whatsoever. I see more of Lexi Ainsworth on Instagram than I do on my screen. Since Krissy is involved with LGBTQ causes, Stella appears on an episode to advise her that she should consider becoming a social worker at GH. Or perhaps we finally get to see Molly argue a case as a lawyer, or perhaps TJ is tempted by a new nurse or doctor. But instead, we get Sasha and Willow. Sasha could've left with Gladys and Brando to Corinth, and Willow can die.

Someone needs to explain to Josh Morrow that his days as the show's hunk are long over and that if he wants to keep his job, Nick must remarry Sharon, run CL with her and be a talk to.

Someone would have to sit Joshua Morrow down for that to happen, but would he accept it? Nick Newman does not need any more children on this show. He and Sharon need to work their way back together, and perhaps they will tie the knot officially for next year's anniversary week. Nick and Sharon are 50 years old and need to be involved in the lives of their children, who should be having the stories Nick is in. No one is saying they won't have a story; of course, they will. But the days of him possibly impregnating his daughter's rival and being in love triangle after love triangle need to end.

The time for Sally/Nick was when Sally was feuding with Phyllis. This “romance” is a several days late and dollars short.

And when Sally and Summer were feuding too. Sally could've said this to her.  "You might have gotten to run Marchetti, but I'm f*cking your daddy,"

I don't think they would go so hard at Jason and Carly - a forbidden pairing for years - without some sort of reason, I don't think it was just a feint. But I also don't think Jason/Britt was. It seemed like they switched gears multiple times. I do agree they very very quickly cut all bait on Jason/Sam after years of keeping them inseparable and there had to be a reason.

Remember when they had Michael said to Carly that he always wanted her and Jason to be together since I was a little boy. And I was like, "So those clips and episodes I've seen of your red-haired version were just lies about wanting your parents together for about four years straight?"

Jason's stories in his last year or so definitely changed on a dime, likely due to BTS.

They should have left it at Bill pretending to go along with Sheila until he had a chance to securely turn her in. It would have made much more sense and given Bill a chance to "redeem" himself by doing something good for Brooke and Katie since they are threatened by Sheila.

But, doing a Sheila/Bill pairing for real is stupid...unless they write both of them off into the sunset. I'm tired of both characters.

The show desperately needs a couple of new characters to switch things up. (Yes, I know. They would just end up brief flashes on the canvas but I'd take that over the repetitiveness we have right now).

That would've been the better story. I was hoping Brad was going to start a relationship with Li and Bill since they had befriended each other after helping her recover from Sheila's attempt at killing her. But of course, Brad zags when he should've zigged.

I wish Brad would bring back Mary or Diana; it's insane that Sheila's other children aren't on canvas except for Finn, who has the least in terms of knowing this woman. Imagine Mary as a forensic psychologist hired by the LAPD to help track down her mother, or Diana coming to town when Massimo dies, leaving her wealthy. Sheila could have used her desire to reunite her family to try to force a relationship.

Well, according to Brad, we're getting new characters, but knowing him, his attention span won't make them compelling for long.

Exactly. That's the biggest issue when Sheila gets written into extremism. A better story would've been for Steffy to align herself with Sheila after she discovered the Brooke 'why did I drink' scheme to break up Ridge and Brooke. Ironically, they ended up doing that - with Thomas, but pretty much ruined Thomas to get there.

But all of these Sheila-related stories did boost the ratings last year, which is the goal. Perhaps, Brad really does know what the average B&B viewer wants.

I was hoping Sheila would've found out about Steffy's pill addiction and used that against her to paint her as a "bad mother" so Finn would be forced to raise both children, meaning he would need help, causing Sheila to have to be there while Steffy is away in rehab, though she suspects Sheila contributed to her relapse.

That final intro, which I also like, was really screaming ER. Same font, similar two letter abbreviation logos, and similar tinted backgrounds.

JFP's tendedncy for action was really evident on GH. Bill Bell's style of soap is daytime's closest thing to Aaron Spelling. Troubled lives of lavish people. Spelling's Dynasty's influence was obious in Dickson's Jill becoming Alexis Carrington from about 1985 onwards.

Primetime's influence in daytime was also obvious with the show Texas and the Buchannan's on OLTL

When it comes to this opening, it felt like JFP thought Bay City was really a borough in NYC instead of a Chicago suburb. Poor Stephen Schnetzer, Alice Barrett and Matt Crane were only in that opening once, but how many times did Grayson McCouch pop up in that opening? Smh!

I appreciated the visual style and the music of AW's ER opening and JFP's later work on GH.

However, it felt crow-barred in because the image didn't match many of the characters.  Suddenly, there was no diversity in the costume style.  Donna, Felicia, and Rachel were all wearing shapeless Donna Karan and Armani looks.  Fashion of the period was a dynamic mix of the Grey-age Japanese influence and Versace's loud mix of color and print.  I doubt that Felicia Gallant would go from feathers and beads to long beige pantsuits.  So, it just homogenized the look of the show in order to seem like a contemporary drama, but it missed the fun of giving each character their own twist on the times.

Worse, for me, is that JFP seemed to ignore the diversity of class in Bay City, and later in Port Charles.  Suddenly everyone seemed to exist with middle class standards and values.  There were no young women seeking status through wealth, everyone was only interested in career advancement.  Victoria Hudson and Brenda Barrett went from spoiled brats to business women without any period of adjustment.  They no longer wished to vacation in Europe, now they wanted to sign contracts. It just didn't fit with the character's history to have Donna manage a media company and Felicia run a bookstore.

It felt very 90s (in retrospect) to ignore income and race, and just show an integrated cast where nobody had to deal with cultural issues.  Hiring Black and Latino actors may have seemed like progress, but not acknowledging their diversity was a JFP hallmark in ignoring the depth of that time in history.  She brought on Ricky Martin and Joseph C. Phillips, and never gave them a story about their minority statue, as if the casting was enough.

Wendy Riche brought on Ricky Martin and Joseph C. Phillips back when Mark Teschner's casting was taken more serious by the EP's.

JFP also had a pattern, at least on Guiding Light and Another World, of pairing up young, spunky rookie cop blondes with the roguish older cops, i.e., Mallet and Harley and Josie and Gary.

I still mourn the fact that Clare Labine was offered the ATWT HW position in 1996, but instead chose to pursue a new show pitch that she hoped would see fruition (it didn't).  Think of the possibilities!  She would have been the perfect fit.

She would've been great, although I wonder how much she would want to put up with P&G interference and possible network notes. Yet I can see her bringing back a stronger foundation to the show through the Hughes and developing strong friendships.

The elegant and timeless Jabot lobby is the best looking set on the show these days.

What the heck is that hideously crappy Glam Club supposed to be anymore? Did I hear right about Daniel and Abby dropping for lunch? Jeez so much for “upscale night club”.

Sally’s storyline is in insulting. She really should be tantalizing Kyle or wooing Chance just to get the Chancellor name. Instead she’s saddled with an umpteenth Who’s the daddy involving Nick and Adam. Very offensive.

I smiled at the Gina reference as well. She came back for Katherine’s funeral but before that hadn’t been on since 2009 when Jerry passed.

It's as if TPTB decided that now the Glam Club is the new restaurant set because they don't want to pull out the Society set or can't have too many people in there. This show must be in the bathroom if every other soap looks better in terms of exterior, but the number one daytime show looks terrible. I've seen better sets during my middle and high school performing arts days.

I don't mind Adam and Sally, but Nick didn't have to be involved in this storyline AT ALL! Or at least acknowledge that Nick is old enough to be Sally's father.

I'm hoping this is another stopgap before they put Nick and Sharon back together. And don't get me started on Sharon potentially being paired with her third cop. Where's the story in that?

    Budget mode is here sadly.

It became quite noticeable in 2020 when they returned during the height of the pandemic and those sets became few and number of characters in them became sparse.
