I recall Donna's condo, but it made me wonder if they lived in the same building as TOPS?  Was that the Love Towers where Reginald met his untimely demise off of the roof top balcony?

Also, is memory failing me or wasn't this all contemporaneous with the return of Jason Frame because Iris's suspected motive at the time of his murder was that Jason was blackmailing her with knowledge that she was The Chief?  That being said, I have no memory what her motive was as a suspect in Jake McKinnon's shooting. It was a sign of times that Beverly/Iris was never arrested, but Carmen/Iris was a suspect in three different gun related crimes.

Your point about Donna and Iris not knowing each other is valid given that Rachel was presumed to have known Donna for years because they were neighbors.  However, I guess it could be argued that Mac bought the Cory mansion right before his marriage to Rachel, so Iris did not live in that house, and thus had no chance to run into Donna at the mailbox or local grocery store (can you imagine Iris collecting the mail?). On the other hand, it was later established the Dennis was a similar age to Marley & Vicky, so it stands to reason that Dennis and Jamie would have met Marley in school before she left for her European boarding school (but now I am veering into the realm of fan fiction).

I also agree with your main hypothesis that the de-Sorasing of Donna, through the casting of Ms Sampler, did the character no favors, and Donna lost a lot of her agency in the process.  It is amusing that Donna acquired a southern lilt at the same time that Iris got her Aussie accent without much of an explanation in either case.

Didn't Iris pay Jake to dig up proof to prove Paulina wasn't Mac's daughter at the same time she was trying to get Rachel's trust after The Chief debacle? And Jake was going to tell Rachel about what he had to do for Iris too?

She had a starring role on the much-hailed NYPD Blue revival pilot ABC failed to pick up to series.

A lot of names have popped up on GH in the last few years to do stints for a little dough. I think it's beneath them given the quality of the specific writing and roles, but she's neither the biggest nor the last.

I believe someone said Sherry Stringfield got turned down in favor of Gina Tognoni for NuPhyllis on Y&R, or maybe some role on B&B (or both).

I'm still curious as to why ABC turned down the NYPD Blue revival series?

Anyway I know for sure Sherry auditioned for Quinn in 2012/2013 but Rena Sofer ended up getting the part.

  3. This time I'm not mad at GH's casting although I'm wondering is this a short stint or is it going to be longer?

I'm thinking she is going to turn out to be Chase's mother or maybe she plays Lois Cerullo? I mean it wouldn't be the first time she played a New Yorker on ABC.😉 Then again I wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be somehow related to Cyrus ugh...

People online wish she was playing Liz's mother but we know this show pretends the stork brought Elizabeth.

This is quite difficult to answer... I guess the most popular ones would be Jo, Katrin and Emily... followed by Felix, Nina, Erik, and maybe Sunny? A lot of the male characters – Leon, Paul, John and Philip – are characters who are just "there" and do not polarize. The women are more nuanced, but this has always been the case.

Jonas isn't that bad... he works well as a supporting player in family storylines, and I also like him with Merle.

I don't think there's an universally hated character on the canvas right now. I know the audience hated Leyla, Shirin and Nazan's cousin, who just departed the show, but she was only a guest role.

On UU, it looks like veteran actor Ben Ruedinger has departed the show after playing the part of Till Weigel for almost 20 years. Swiss born Ruedinger joined the cast in October 2000 when Till, middle son of the Weigel family, received a recast. Previously, Stephen Dürr had played the part from the show's first episode in 1994 to December 1996. In July 2020, a cast list was published by RTL which stated that Constantin Lücke would be playing Till; however, Ben Ruedinger still appeared on screen at that time. Now Till has disappeared in the middle of an important storyline, and there are spoilers that indicate that he will have a terrible accident that requires plastic surgery. Constantin Lücke is a seasoned stage actor with many years of experience. On television, he is best known for his main role on the telenovela "Rote Rosen"; he also appeared in small roles on "Verbotene Liebe" and "Alles was zählt".

Kai Noll, who's played Rufus Sturm since 2003, is also departing the show in early September. Maybe the show's budget is strained and they're happy to see two big earners gone...

Will you miss Till or Rufus?

  5. Alan Locher will welcome the Simon family to his YouTube show, The Locher Room. Join Peter (ex-Ed, GUIDING LIGHT, et al), his wife, Courtney Simon (ex-Kathy, SEARCH FOR TOMORROW, et al, and a Daytime Emmy Award-winning former scribe for ALL MY CHILDREN, SANTA BARBARA and other soaps), and their daughter, Kate Hall, who is currently a member of GH’s writing team, for the interview on Wednesday September 2, at 3 p.m. ET,

I have one as well. I start writing it in October 1998 when I was 14-15 years old. And I was writing it until 2012, when I stopped. I only recently picked up where I left of and have now reached May 2013 episodes :)

My story is quite similar to you. The episodes were such crap, my God. I re-read all of it recently from the beginning during covid confinement. It was such trash, a lot of it did not have any sense and people would fall in love without any build up or anything, like one date and then oh they are so in love. haha

But I too would like to think it got better as I got older. :D

And like you, I was heavily inspired and influenced by two soaps that I watched at the time, which were Sunset Beach and The City, so all of my characters lived in this apartment building (like on The City). :) Initially, it had this rich family Paige family which owned the building, as well as the Brewster, Shorse (I guess this last name does not really exist, I have no idea how I got this name back in 1998, but well.. it's there lol)  and Anderson families. All of these families exist still on the soap (at least in some way).

The only difference between you and me is that I started writing in the notebook and then eventually moved onto the computer and since early 2000s everything is in the computer. Back then I was saving it on floppy drives and I even lost some episodes when some floppy drives got broken. But I have rewrote those missing parts eventually. since I had yearly recaps saved up.

My soap is simply called "Life". :)

Life sounds interesting. Is there anywhere I can read it online? 😁

More like 70. And every time I remind people she can't act and Abby shouldn't be on the show anymore someone calls the cops. You write her off, and if you don't kill her (which I would legit consider at this point because the first 20 years of the character are a complete wash) then you re-conceive her in a few years' time with a new actress and with Abby focused not on business, not on screwball [!@#$%^&*] but on some sort of artistic profession, like one of the Brooks sisters. This at least allows you to differentiate her from Victoria, Summer, and any other Young White Woman X.

And while we're on the subject of young leads, since I just said this to Darn I may as well repeat it here: Camryn Grimes has no story because IMO the 'groundbreaking story' of making her bisexual was at least in part a cynical ploy to keep her from being popular with actual male leads they found attractive and desirable while either the network, Sony or someone at the show clearly does not feel the same about Grimes. (This is similar to using the Amanda story as a sop to fans of color asking for Mishael Morgan back - Amanda neutralizes her popularity as Hilary.) Someone feels Grimes is not hot enough. So she gets sectioned off with a boring female love interest in the pat-ourselves-on-the-back social issue backburner story, when she should be in there with Mealor, etc. mixing it up. I'm a gay fan, I am all for Mariah being bisexual. I am not for her being the all-but-lesbian in the corner doing nothing. If you want this show to be the young and the restless, then make King, Mealor, Grimes, Morgan, and yes even poor Bryton get filthy with each other. You look back at what Terry Lester's Jack was doing and saying about himself being a manwhore in those '80s episodes in the vault and my god, what a difference. And I'm supposed to sit here today and pretend old Nick just got out of college, and watch 50 year old Phyllis fight Abby and her 120 failed stories over some hotels? Who cares? That demeans Stafford too. Am I supposed to live in suspense watching to see if Sharon Case finally changes her hair which she's had since before 9/11? Can y'all tell I had some coffee??

I pretty much agree with all of your viewpoints about current The Young and The Restless. We should be seeing the younger generation getting down and dirty with one another. If you don't mind me asking what would you have Mariah, Devon, Kyle and Hilary doing? I'm sure it would be probably better than their current status at the moment.

I'm not looking forward to Phyllis and Abby having a rivalry over some hotel that neither of them should own in the first place. Give the running of hotel and restaurant establishments on this show to side characters like Gloria.

  8. Jade had the potential to be ATWT's newest bad girl in the vein of Lisa, Barbara, Julie, and Carly before her. I'm trying to remember who it was who said on here a few years back about how either Lisa or Carly should've taken her under her wing to have more ties to the canvas other than being tension for Will/Gwen.

  9. Another Reunion Alert

Alan Locher will reunite ANOTHER WORLD’s Alice Barrett Mitchell (ex-Frankie), Kale Brown (ex-Michael), Alicia Coppola (ex-Lorna), Anna Stuart (ex-Donna) and Christine Tucci (ex-Amanda) on his show, The Locher Room. The live interview will take place on Thursday August 13 at 2 p.m.

What a weird group of people (except Kale and Anna)

  10. If any soap could benefit from a COVID-19 time jump would be The Young And The Restless.

Sharon could've went for her surgery off-screen in those months and been at the ranch recuperating since the virus is affecting people with illnesses more strongly. She could've gotten the all-clear from her oncologist but everyone else keeps telling her not to rush it and Sharon has had enough of being stuck in the house all these months.

And the whole Hope killed Adam's best friend daddy could've vanished and they could've focused on something like Newman being affected by the virus. Adam, Victoria and Nick have to team up to save the company. Also Jabot could be having some trouble financially through their brick and mortar stores. However, their online sales have skyrocketed in addition to the company developing scented hand sanitizer and soaps. (Ashley's idea of course)

I would've preferred Billy and Lily going to work for Hamilton-Winters with Mariah. Devon could be the head as well as Nate, Elena and Jill sitting on the board. Victor could be mentoring Devon business wise. And Amanda working as the company's lawyer. Unfortunately they refuse to write Devon in charge of anything that is not in his living room. 😠

But Nope! We're getting leftover dull tales of March instead.
