  1. Let's not forget The WB's Charmed

A lot of BTS upheaval centered around the series for years.

Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano's issues and Shannen's departure

The issues between Constance M. Burge and Brad Kern

    From Wikipedia

Ahead of the third season, Burge left her former position as executive producer to Kern, after she reportedly became frustrated that storylines for the third season were going to become more focused on the sisters' relationships with their love interests than each other.[19] She had disagreements with Kern over bringing the character Cole Turner (Julian McMahon) into the show as a love interest for Alyssa Milano's character Phoebe, as there was already enough focus on the show's established couple Piper (Holly Marie Combs) and Leo Wyatt (Brian Krause).[20] However, Burge remained on Charmed as a creative consultant until season four.[21] Her departure resulted in changes in the story structure of the show, from a "demon of the week" system to using third or half-season-long story arcs. In addition, more importance was given to the protagonists' personal lives. The serial connection of episodes culminated in the second half of season four. Despite the ratings increasing during season four's final story arc from 4.19 to 4.21, The WB asked Kern to abandon the serial system. This led to the largely episodic structure of season five, and resulted in the two systems being balanced from the sixth season onwards.

    Budget Cuts

During the seventh season and for the first time in its history, the show had been in limbo as there was no guaranteed renewal for an eighth season.[32] Charmed was ultimately renewed for a final season, but the budget was cut considerably compared to previous seasons due to expensive special effects and props and highly-paid actresses.[18][33] Executive producer Brad Kern revealed that they had to cut back on special effects and guest stars, and that the entire season was shot only on the Paramount Studios lot as they could not go out on location anymore.[34] These budget cuts also led to cast member Dorian Gregory being written out of the final season and Brian Krause being written out of several episodes as a cost-saving measure.[18][33] Kern revealed that the show could not afford to have Krause in all 22 episodes of the final season, but he was brought back for the final two episodes to help bring closure to the storylines

    I think that’s a pretty good assessment.

Who is Ryan Brown related to? I agree he failed miserably on both GL and Y&R. In fact Brown’s casting at Y&R surprised me as was there no one else for the role? Suspiciously like a Lucy Johnson directive to me.

I remember ATWT hyping they had hired Spencer Grammer in the pivotal of Lucy and comparing her talent to Jennifer Landon at the time. Well as it turned out the apple fell really far from the tree on that one and she was let go a few months later. She then had that crappy ABC Family show but after that ended she went back into the woodworks.

Ryan Brown's mother is romance author Sandra Brown.

  3. Ashley seemed more like Vanessa to me than Reva from what I saw of Pamela's portrayal of the character. From being a wealthy heiress to having a baby in her teens and her being torn by her "cowboy" Justin and TJ (her child's father) Like Vanessa being in love with her southern cowboy Billy and her eldest child's father Ross.

I found this as I was watching promos for GL from 1993 on YouTube. This was a special promo for the NYC area as Guiding Light was moving to its new timeslot at 10am. Weird how I've looked for this info in the early/mid 2000s as to when GL moved to 10am on my CBS, and recently have found two sources.

Who's the actress in the frame? She's the only one I don't recognize from when I started watching.

Wendy Moniz who played Dinah Marler from 1995 to 1999. She went onto Primetime and was married to her GL onscreen lover Frank Grillo who played Hart Jessup. They divorced this year after two decades of marriage.

Thanks. I remember hearing about Chandler and Aiden. I thought Kim was somewhere in California.

This was a entertaining group. Even with Alan's bad interview skills. And the technical problems. It was enjoyable. Who did Jocelyn play on Days? I had no idea Mark and Beth appeared in the Reba McEntire video And Still. Morgan's still a tasty snack. His aged like fine wine. He can rescue me from a burning building anytime.

According to IMDb she played a character called Tanya Hempstead in 1994.

  7. I know it would never happen but I wouldn't mind a candid tell-all with several black actor and actresses who did daytime talk about their experiences in the genre as a documentary or book.

I give Steven Bochco credit for trying to rectify that situation with his short-lived "City of Angels," which was the first network TV drama series to feature a predominantly Black cast (Blair Underwood, Vivica A. Fox, etc.).  But, man, the writing for that show, like most of Bochco's post-"NYPD Blue" shows, was so anemic.

I tend to think about City of Angels from time to time randomly and I just looked up it lasted two seasons. But I always thought it only lasted one. City of Angels did have potential and it was an interesting take with a medical show with a predominantly black cast.

  9. I've been catching up with the January 1993 episode of Loving for the past week or so now, and I must say I enjoy them all to varying degrees.

So far, I don't see any romantic chemistry from Stacey and Jeremy. However, I do like their friendship and him helping her out. It seems this is in character for Jeremy from what I know of his history on All My Children. He always had to come to the aid of a woman and always interfered with police investigations. I do like that Stacey has some agency and isn't still going out of her mind about Jack.

I really wish I could see Louie's prostate cancer storyline. Not too many soaps would feature a story of a male character who was Bernard Barrow's age suffering from a disease let alone being discussed in such a frank manner. (I'm looking at you Chuck Pratt with that terrible Michael Baldwin prostate cancer story on Y&R) I liked Dinah Lee calling him out on the real reason why he doesn't go home. Also, we get Kate and Ava at the Rescott/Slavisnky household talking about how Kate and Louie had a prominent sex life, which Ava is both surprised and elated to hear about her mother and stepfather intimacy secrets. Lisa Peluso and Nada Rowland had great chemistry as mother/daughter.

Dennis Parlato is my favorite Clay even though I didn't mind James Horan. But Dennis as Clay fits in the role of the son who wants to take over and will do anything to get him to do so. Besides, he and Christine Tudor had great chemistry together. And I prefer Vamp Gwyn over Frumpy Gwyn any day of the week.

@dc11786 is right about how Hannah comes off so sickly sweet and so naïve. Every time she is in a scene I'm like "How old is she supposed to be again? I wish the episodes leading up to Cooper and Ally sleeping together would surface one day. I did like Casey laying into both Ally and Cooper for sleeping with each other in New York City. Paul Anthony Stewart was such a talented young actor. It seems from what I read the other actresses playing Isabelle would've handled her nephew getting a girl from the working-class area of town pregnant differently.

I did have to cringe at Ron Turner Jr. and his singing group singing blues songs at the NYE party. I was like why do the black characters performing songs that sounded like they were from Gershwin? I'm glad in the upcoming years the black characters get adequate screen time and actual decent writing,

This reminds me of when KMK subbed for VR as Drucilla in 2000.

Also- what about the girl Cane had a fling with on Y&R in 2017? I think she was introduced as an interpreter from his business trip in Hong Kong. I can’t remember her name - Julie, maybe. Was she mixed?

Of course she went crazy and was axed soon. But she had potential.

Her character was Juliet and she was played by Laur Allen

    https://www.imdb.com/name/nm5977008/

I think Juliet had potential, especially if they would've taken her into a vixen role on the show. The actress just needed some red bull and better direction because sometimes she came off kind of lethargic on screen. I always wanted Cane & Lily who decide to get back together to win custody of the baby Juliet had with Cane. Juliet being heartbroken decides to be vengeful so she secretly hooks up with Charlie to get revenge on the walking stick and Lily getting her son so she sees it as her taking their son. After three months Lily finds out and goes buck on Juliet for messing with her teenage son.

Juliet also had that sexual harassment lawsuit against Cane at Brash and Sassy which she won I believe? Also she had a brewing friendship with Hilary too.
