I didn't realize that - so sweet! So the big outstanding question is (and Lauren even notes this to Paul and Lynn) - what made Sheila snap and kidnap Lauren...? Because Lauren had zero clue what the truth was until Sheila spelled it out for her at the farmhouse. The only thing I can think of is - Sheila thought it was inevitable that Lauren would learn about the birthmark removal and put two and two together. We'll only know for sure if the eps leading up to May 4 ever appear 🙏

There was definitely some strange things with the tone of these follow-up scenes after Sheila's "death". Scott was whitewashing their history but I guess you could argue it was the shock of it all. Still, I'm surprised that Scott didn't have more of a sense of relief. For the 6 months prior, Sheila was the sword hanging over Scott's head. I guess with Ruth, since she's such a disposable character, the writers felt like it wasn't necessary to recap to her what happened once again, after Lauren has already recapped it to Paul and Lynn, and then to Scott. (I loved the flashbacks were incorporated into Lauren's memories) What was super-weird was how the priest recapped everything during the memorial?? Based on everything Scott had told him? It didn't feel necessary for the priest to get so specific, lol... and not appropriate for a memorial.

Falcon Crest
Ah, that makes sense... pretty much every ep so far ends with a return to the status quo, and the Giobertis still strangely friendly with Angela and crew, despite some nasty event having occurred.

Found it, thanks! Took some digging I thought it was under clips instead of full episodes. Thank you anonymous angel!! I never hoped to see these May '92 scenes, and they did not disappoint. It felt like a dream to watch them. So precious. And even Sheila's memorial! What a treat to see a final appearance of the beloved Naomi and Doris (Doris, who thinks Lauren is afflicted by the devil 🤣❤️) Inconceivable that Scott did not have Cricket and Danny attend the memorial. Wow wow wow, so much goodness! Danny's June '88 "Concert for the Homeless"!! Always wanted to see it but never thought I would! (Looks like Nikki did not wind up attending even though she did the PR for the concert) plus scenes from Jessica's first bout with AIDS - so rare and special. Thanks for the tip BoldRestless and Thank You Anonymous Angel!!

Falcon Crest
sigh... oh well, thanks... at least he hopefully made a higher salary after making the opening credits. Just finished ep 8. After the stage-setting and world-building of eps 1-4... eps 5-7 were a slog to make it through! The problem is too few characters and too little story per episode. I was excited for the return of Tony Cumson, as well as the return of Turner Bates... but the plots of both eps were so stretched out over 44 minutes that all the tension drained away. Maggie's false alarm pregnancy felt tired and not worthy of a B story. Episode 8 "Lord of the Manor" - what a very welcome vast improvement! 3 different plots of equal interest: 1- Lance very confidently trying to scam the wine distributor and slowly realizing that he's in way over his head was very fun to watch. And what a difference a budget makes. The scenes with the machinery corking the wine bottles, and the forklift moving the wine boxes, make Falcon Crest feel REAL (I think I'm scarred by 2023's threadbare daytime soaps budgets) Key quote from Lance: "I'm living in a madhouse" 2- Angela is vulnerable (and quite charming) for the first time - both in her insecurity while awaiting the results of the wine competition, and dealing with her ex-husband's renewed romantic interest. Key quote from Angela: "I haven't built my empire yet" 3- Cole is at his cutest - connecting with his Tuscany, Italy relatives and trying to get by with his basic Italian The ep seems to end on a happy note but suddenly shifts to an unsettling note, as the Giobertis learn that Angela and Jason were bitter enemies. I'm definitely encouraged to continue on with my viewing. Can't wait to make it to Ana-Alicia's debut. Sounds like the show will fully kick into gear around then.

Falcon Crest
Can anyone remind me… did Chao-Li have a greater presence/his own stories in the later seasons? I do remember Rosalind Chao as his daughter appearing briefly in season 5. Oooh I’m intrigued!

Falcon Crest
I’ve watched the first 4 episodes of Falcon Crest! What a treat. I started watching the show real time as a teen with season 5, and apparently completely missed the peak years. My first FC memory is Angela referring to Apollonia as Babylonia. I considered jumping past the original batch of eps, but I’m so glad I started from the beginning. There’s a lot of excellent world-building. How exquisite to see every moment from the Giobertis meeting Angela, and the slow inevitable breakdown between the families. A favorite moment was Angela giving Cole a history lesson on the Giobertis clan. Very soon I imagine Angela will never speak to the Giobertis whatsoever! Susan Sullivan is simply indispensable. Her warm presence grounds the show. Julia as played by Abby Dalton is so strange. The character feels awkward somehow. It’s clear that her life was interrupted by Angela and she’s not a full or well person. Emma floating around the rafters of the house like a character from a Tennessee Williams play is <chef’s kiss> So strange to hear Angela referred to as “Angie” William R Moses… what a dopey rootable dreamboat. Lorenzo Lamas… as an actor - he’s a redwood tree. I see from the comments he will slowly ease into his role. Jamie Rose as Victoria is giving me Diana on Knots vibes <annoying daughter who has to eventually be written off the show>

Picking up my '93 viewing after a few months away...1623 I had to lol when Brooke "presented" Sheila with her "new office". Sheila looks physically ill and says "what is all this... machinery?"🤣 eg a computer, fax machine, copier, and filing cabinets with storage boxes piled atop. Brooke is the world's worst boss to think that Sheila would be happy with that office. And she never even responds when Sheila says "I barely know how to type". Brooke doesn't think this is a problem...? I was quite disappointed that we don't see Macy's first AA meeting but instead hear about it after the fact 😕 Ridge is an emotionally stunted baby for punching Connor. That was a sucker punch and Connor should have pressed charges. Taylor should have concerns about having a baby with someone who has such a hair-trigger temper.

What happened to Allie, Jack’s grand-daughter? Last June, in that Ashley/Traci special episode, she was dating Noah. Oh yea and… where’s Noah?

Yes! The highlight of the episode! Loved her blasting that numbskull Abby. And then Jill and Cricket busting Nina's chops had me LOLing. I could feel the real-life affection between all these ladies.

YR: 50TH Anniversary Special on "Entertainment Tonight"
Was Michelle S right? Was Phyllis really only supposed to last 3 weeks? What was supposed to happen... Danny and Cricket reunite in '94?

YR: 50TH Anniversary Special on "Entertainment Tonight"
Yep... Brenda Dickson... AND Deborah Adair! It was Deborah's Jill who had the initial romance and marriage with John Abbott. Deborah's Jill was there when Madame Mergeron revealed herself as Dina, and when Jack was shot. Very foundational stuff for the character of Jill. EileenD mis-speaks when she says Ashley had the first abortion on daytime TV... Erica Kane had the first, in the 70s

Agreed! But a segment on Jill and Katherine, and no mention of another Jill besides Jess 😕

Finally had time to watch 3/24. Wow - Barbara Crampton and Veronica Redd saved the episode! Without their energy, it would have been a zero. Michelle S with her heavy red lipstick was a ghoul! When is the last time we saw Tonya Lee Williams' Olivia? I felt her absence here. She should have arrived with Mamie. Nate feels very adrift from Lily and Devon and Olivia could have tied the family together, and made us feel even more the loss of Neil.

The Young and the Restless: March 2023 Discussion Thread
I tried really hard not to ff today but some of the scenes are such weak sauce... Hamilton Winters zzzzz Agreed that TSJ has much presence, and what an upgrade from SN! What did Tucker do to make everyone so mad? Circa 2010, didn't Tucker cheat on Ashley with Maura West's Diane? And now everyone is mad at Tucker and not Diane? Is this latest version of Diane a morally-correct heroine, or is she still a historically-accurate complex schemer? Mark Grossman slays as Adam, but Amelia Heinle is a scene destroyer. I loved Courtney Hope as Sally Spectra on BnB in 2017. This pod-person version bears no resemblance. I can't stand Joshua Morrow but I'll admit he looked pretty good in bed shirtless. God, Abby's apology was so pathetic and totally self-serving. Amanda ripped her to shreds and I did enjoy that.
