  1. Oooooo, Bill just read Dani for filth. Still, I can understand her wanting to give it one last try. But she did embarrass herself. I feel like I’ve known these characters for a while already. As much as I felt the Day 1 exposition clunky, it did get it out of the way and, now that it’s Friday, I’m solid with who is who and what’s going on. (On the surface…we all know there’s so much going on about which we know nothing. Soap opera!!!)
  2. But “so young” is subjective. It has yet to be explicitly stated how old they were when they were adopted. When you have kids, 9 years old to 16 is a huge leap.
  3. They adopted the kids though. They didn’t say what age they were when that happened. Just that they were “kids.” That could be 9 or 10 years old.
  4. The commercials in the second half are too much. The last commercial break was longer than the show’s 6th act!
  5. Thanks! I couldn’t remember who it was. You know her parents - at least one of them - is already a character on the canvas. That’s classic soap!
  6. Didn’t someone say yesterday that they were an orphan? Or am I making that up? If so…I call this woman who said she’s happy to have never married and had children as that character’s mother.
  7. So far, am enjoying Day 2 a lot. Really loving the relationship between Nicole and her husband. (Again, it’ll take me a while to learn all the names. It’s just me.) I feel like the actress playing Hayley is trying too hard to make us (and the other characters) not hate her. And it might be working on me. Agree that the hospital set looks better . Am interested to learn more about these new characters who arrived
  8. Rewatched the episode this morning. I'm glad I did because I was able to pick up some of the exposition that I lost on first viewing because I was still trying to process the exposition I'd just heard. It will take me a while to learn character names. (In my head, I'm seeing Tamara Tunie and Clifton Davis. No idea what their character names are but I'll get there as I watch the show.) I've got Nicole and Dani's names down. Nicole was by far my favorite. Her acting was so natural - luckily, she didn't get too much exposition. That fell to poor Tamara - and I immediately have a sense of her character. As others have said, I think there's probably more under the surface of her "perfect marriage." (Or, she could be a part of the one couple that is stable. Every soap needs one of those.) I'm enjoying KM as Dani. It's a different role for her from what I've seen and I trust her as an actress to find the character more over time. The two white characters. Still don't mind watching that boy shirtless in an apron. On second viewing, I didn't think his acting was awful. I think he's green; he's never done a soap and was probably nervous. (Dani's daughter who doesn't want to be a model...I swear I could see the fear in her eyes of "Just get the line out so they don't have to yell 'CUT!' or I might get fired." I hope that changes with time.) The white woman I found, on second viewing, to be better than I'd thought. I also really enjoyed the actor playing Bill. Looking forward to seeing more from him. His fiancee/the ex-best friend/whore...not sure I loved her acting. But again, people green to soaps have a huge learning curve ahead of them. I just recently watched the first 3 years of Bold and the Beautiful on YouTube and they went through so many different characters AND recasts in those 3 years. It makes me wonder if we'll see something similar with this show. Time will tell. Looking forward to Episode 2 in 2 hours!
  9. With everything else going on in the episode, I totally forgot to mention this. One of my first thoughts about the show was, "OOOOO, bitch didn't even slow down for that stop sign!" I thought it showed that the Dupree family OWNS that place.
  10. I'll be interested to see it play out. One of the reviews I read said, "You'll be dying to find out what happens on Monday." But, reviewers only got to see the first 5 episodes, so they clearly won't know for sure. I'm still trying to figure out who might even be the intended target and will be all week! I mean, one character, is obvious, but it could always be something out of the blue. I'll have my popcorn and my glass of champagne (classy) on Friday at 2pm to find out!
  11. Initial reactions: LOTS of exposition. Which is to be expected. But, if I still had any hair, it'd been blown back by all the information being thrown at me. The vets are, unsurprisingly, solid. The newbies will need some time to learn how to shoot 80-100 pages per day. The sets, the clothes, the hair all look like MONEY!!! I agree about the white couple but, as long as that man is shirtless in most of his scenes, I won't mind a bit. Who do we think is going to be murdered at the end of the week? P.S. I'll definitely give it a year to see where it all goes.
  12. Agreed. My husband used to work the Warner Bros. parent company, Time Warner, until it was sold to AT&T back in 2018. He definitely shares the Zaslav criticism!
  13. Wow - this has all been very interesting for me to read. I'm constantly on Max. The Other Two. Hacks. And Just Like That. The Regime. House of the Dragon. And that's all just been lately. It's always interesting to read different perspectives.
  14. Yeah, your explanation makes sense. Thank you. Reading it, I can see what the writers were doing. However, I think the reason I couldn't put it together myself is that Melissa is a strong ass woman who has outmaneuvered so many characters so many times...I'm not buying that suddenly she can't find her own strength because Lance cheated on her (for the 75th time?🤣) and is losing it. I guess this is what people mean when they say "the rot started showing." Re: Plex...I believe KL and FC are leaving that platform the say time they leave Amazon - March 2. Fingers crossed it stays.
  15. I'd say they stopped for 2 reasons. 1) The head writers of soaps today can barely write a coherent storyline period let alone something as complicated as a murder. 2) To go to trial, that would mean they'd have to have a courtroom set. And, these days, it seems that, if the set doesn't exist, it ain't being built. So unless there's a soap today that already has a courtroom, they probably just don't have the money to do the storyline. Maybe? Just throwing out ideas.
  16. Ok - so looking into the "pulling of KL and FC" more, I see that it will happen on March 2. The only article I could find said that KL would be available for purchase through Apple, Fandango, and all the various other sources. That's great. I prefer to own stuff anyway and will happily buy KL - a season at a time until it gets to a place where I may no longer enjoy it. I couldn't find any info on FC, however. Does anyone know/have inside information if it will be available for purchase as well? I mean, I'm in the middle of Season 6, and it seems to be deteriorating quickly. (If anyone could explain to me why Melissa is suddenly going crazy, I'd be grateful. It makes no sense whatsoever.) But I'm still interested in seeing how things progress. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
  17. I've never watched FC or KL - am currently in the middle of FC Season 6 and KL Season 7. But I'm one of those people who, for soaps, would just open up my wallet and say "Take my money!" Now, if I were re-watching, that would be different. But I'd definitely pay to finish them. (Although I'd prefer the option to buy them through Apple or Fandango at Home.)
  18. The new trailer gives me all I need to know and I am LIVING for it! I'll give the show 6 months to see if it can hook me. Soaps need a while. Tamara Tunie alone will keep me watching that long. Am hoping to snag tix to the NYC premiere at Paley Fest when they go on sale to the general public tomorrow! Bring on Beyond The Gates! PS Someone posted an interview above ( a few pages back) that made it sound as if the show has been given a 4 season pick up from CBS. If so, I applaud them. We all know it takes years for a soap to find its following. Giving the production/writing team 4 years to breathe and try and make it work would be awesome!
  19. It's a 1 for me...live at 2pm...via Paramount+!! Can't wait.
  20. I, too, grew up on a farm. I wish we'd had a house as nice as the Snyders. It was a mobile home in the middle of a giant field with an aluminum roof and no shade!
  21. I agree. It's probably too much to ask for in today's TV landscape. Especially if they want it to survive more than a few years. I couldn't watch that Dynasty reboot but look how long it went on! I, too, think a good writer could write rich, over the top characters, but still keep them grounded in familiar and relatable emotional conflicts. I'd definitely watch that. As long as they did it in gorgeous clothes with great one liners. (The emotional grounding has to come from the actors as well as the writers. Tamara Tunie is one of those actresses who I feel can make the writing better. Maybe some of the others can as well!)
  22. As I said to a poster above, I completely see and respect your point of view. I, myself, was born in '72 so grew up on the 80s daytime and nighttime soaps. That must be where I get my love of the OTT. My best friend watches Emmerdale and loves how grounded and poor many of the characters are with just regular jobs. At the time he said that to me, I was re-watching Another World (was probably '89-'90 or somewhere in there,) and I said to him, "See, I'm the exact opposite. If Felicia Gallant wasn't a rich romance author, how could she possibly wear all those gorgeous hats and gloves, and own those fabulous purses??!!"
