  1. Intentionally bad, sleazy, or cheesy hair is one of my least favorite comedy tropes. I need to revisit American Hustle, but I recall the running gag about Bradley Cooper's perm, culminating with him at home in curlers.
  2. This week in 1968, it was announced that Disney had signed Michele Lee to two more movies after The Love Bug. One of them was to be "a big musical." I'm wondering if Michele was one of the women considered for Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
  3. I was actually thinking about it in those terms, how it would have been interesting if characters had their own hues for their own flashbacks.
  4. Thanks for the tag, @DRW50. The Dec. 3, 1981, upload, plus this clip, reveals a funny little quirk of the time. "Enid-vision," a.k.a. a sepia tint, for her flashbacks. Later on, they went for a slightly more conventional approach, having a border around them.
  5. Just goes to show that my memory isn't what it used to be. Thank you. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclorama_(theater)
  6. I vaguely remember someone (Saynotoursoap?) saying the first color episode was a big deal indeed, that they used a cyclorama to depict an outdoor wedding or something like that.
  7. On the chance that the new 1983 episode is from Thursday, Aug. 4, I'm going to mention how funny/awesome it is that so much of that particular day's soaps can now be seen, even partially. ABC: Loving, Ryan's Hope, All My Children, General Hospital, Edge of Night NBC: Search for Tomorrow, Another World CBS: As the World Turns
  8. The CBS Saturday Movie promo places this as also airing during the week of Aug. 1, 1983. Notice that the CBS Thursday promo is still using the "Great Moments" graphics from 1982-83.
  9. It's actually Marcia Strassman. I'm amused at how this is apparently Tony's first episode (or close to it). Less than five months later, he'll be left at the altar by Jenny. Also, for the record (I hope I'm not annoying people with this), the episode aired Thursday, Aug. 4, 1983. (Which I forgot until now was also the day of the live Search for Tomorrow episode.)
  10. I'm so happy to be a help!
  11. Absolutely. At the same time, it's perfect/fitting that she got to be the one to bring the curtain down on a never again era/mentality/je ne sais quoi of soaps.
  12. It appears to be a newcomer to the retro library. Monday, Aug. 1, 1983.
  13. I could have sworn that somebody (Gerald J. Wagett?) wrote that Rod played the last episode Travis lookalike.
  14. Thursday, Aug. 4, 1983, thanks to the ABC primetime promo.
  15. Today in turn off your brain moments: Unloaded or not, you'd think that Asa would face some sort of charge/penalty for pulling a weapon on officers doing their job.
  16. They moved to Nashville in 1983. While attending a cul-de-sac party in 1997, Ginger revealed she and Kenny were divorced because of his infidelity. ETA: Whoa, I forgot about Ginger being a lesbian. Clearly a shoutout to one of the year's big TV events, "The Puppy Episode."
  17. Could it have been Earl and Judy Trent, or similar? Like Gary and Val, they would also be dealing with substance abuse.
  18. Based on the CBS Monday and Wednesday promos, specifically the one for Almost Grown ("Tonight"), this is from Monday, Jan. 23, 1989. Maybe they wanted to air the episode in full for all viewers?
  19. Doug Sheehan has died. In his honor, a fun bit with Joe and Jeremy.
  20. Rest in Peace, Solid Old Ben.
  21. Yes, it is. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, but I can't. Sandy isn't coming across as at the very start of her grieving, when nothing's sinking in. She's coming across as mildly inconvenienced by everything.
  22. Bob Hope's GH spoof from 1982, featuring Elizabeth Taylor, Glenn Ford, Tony Geary and Richard Burton.
  23. Yup, that's my takeaway, too. The lead-out shows, on the other hand, aren't as competitive.
