The whole opioid episode is as good as anything from classic Roseanne. And the B-plot with Becky, Darlene and who will get Crystal's full benefits job was handled really maturely. Lecy also got some good one-liners. "You don't have to thank me. I didn't want to leave here anyway. We just got cream-filled churros. It's an exciting time." Darlene giving her the brochures for adult education and a hotel management degree is the most this show has given a shït about Becky in a long time - I loved that.- "The Conners" Discussion Thread
Wrapping up Season 10 on a site which shall not be named on the eve of The Conners: Jackie telling the kids 'ghosting stories' about men at the spooky sleepover as they wait to skype with D.J.'s wife at 2 AM from Afghanistan is peak Jackie in a way that they haven't done without Barney Fife crap in a long time. I cackled. Again, this is good Jackie work the same way Jackie with Bev in the prior episode was. D.J. and Dan talking about his struggle with the VA, PTSD, etc. was surprisingly good from Fishman. I loved how he said he'd been watching Dan work on bikes since he was five and Dan offered to have him help restore bikes. "Welcome to Conner & Son." The neighbor answering the door with a bat just after Jackie took Roseanne's was great. "Nice work, Jackie." Pleased to hear the Al-Harazis will continue to recur as the newest set of Conner neighbors. The dynamics worked, including the scene in the store with Roseanne using her EBT card to cover Fatima's. It's sad that'll be one of the last glimpse we had of the decent Roseanne Conner.- "The Conners" Discussion Thread

I like Elizabeth Warren a lot but AFAIC this mess is weakening her by the hour. The DNA test will only play Trump's game and will do nothing to stop the alt right's attacks. And the media will breathlessly carry it bc they hate 1) women, 2) progressives and 3) vocal progressive women. They've been hunting for a new Hillary to invest decades in and any patina of 'dishonesty' will do.- Twin Peaks
Aussie TP podcast from a recent cast event suggests (at the 6:00 and 45:45 mark) that 'off the record' commentary at the event indicates 'an announcement' in two months... Also has a discussion with Reflections (the TP oral history) author Brad Dukes - who is now doing a similar book on China Beach.- "The Conners" Discussion Thread

The reviews are shockingly pretty solid. I don't know about the numbers, but I will watch. I will say I do think Season 10 should be watched as background on the new family members, etc. especially Mark, but that's me.- Twin Peaks

Don Lemon can be crazy dramatic himself but his initial non-verbal reaction just cracks me up:- The Politics Thread

My ex was bipolar. Roseanne is probably at least bipolar. I have some sympathy for the man he was, but this shît stopped being an excuse awhile ago. There's also a lot of free floating deep narcissism and misogyny in there - and there always was with Kanye.- The Politics Thread
I officially want out of this dimension:- Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread
Since day one, Rose has pivoted from her assault to talking about her amazing projects, deals, scripts etc. in development, often in the same breath. I never trusted that and never will. She seemed deeply damaged but also deeply egocentric. I absolutely believe she was assaulted and traumatized and deserves her pound of flesh from Harvey Weinstein, along with Asia Argento, whose family's work I grew up watching as a horror buff (often featuring her) and whose story was equally gut-wrenching and heartbreaking. But I also believe they're both capable of doing awful things or being shitty people. I've seen predictions recently that Rose McGowan will end up pivoting from the movement to becoming a right wing or libertarian personality to service her ego. I wish I could say I find that implausible.- Twin Peaks

The late Scott Wilson (Herschel) and Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha) will apparently be appearing in the upcoming season I won't be watching any time soon as part of Rick's sendoff.- Star Trek returns with streaming series
Season 2 trailer is surprisingly pretty good and upbeat, though I'm still not keen into leaning on TOS characters with Spock (now played by Ethan Peck). The new Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and Number One (Rebecca Romijn) look good though, and Sonequa and the main cast are still excellent.- The Politics Thread
When men avoid hot button issues in favor of commercial market share (however unsavory I find that personally) we call it good business. When a woman does it we call her a Nazi whore. Racists make her a lust object. Faux-woke left blogs make her the one woman they can call a c_nt and call it a political action. There were even people calling her getting groped by some drunk DJ some kind of calculating ploy from Taylor Swift, the perpetual kinder-demon. Name another woman anyone else would put that [!@#$%^&*] on. You can't - except maybe Hillary Clinton, or Michelle Obama. But when a man with a really big megaphone obsesses over her, demeans her and fetishizes her naked body for almost a decade as she grows from teen to adult, we can choose sides and say it's okay to do some light misogyny because hey - it's just Taylor fúcking Swift. Nah, I'm good, thanks. And BTW I don't even listen to her music much, whereas I listened to Kanye a ton til 2016. But I've just always found this shït vile, ugly and a 'woke' excuse for misogyny and fantasy vilification.- The Politics Thread
The way Kanye treats the world and his own immense power and responsibility is deplorable. He's mentally ill, but after a certain point that stops being an excuse (see: Roseanne). It's very sad what's happened to him, but I stopped being sad for him a while ago. He just makes me angry. I don't have any evidence Taylor Swift is a conservative, or that she courted the MAGAs. I keep hearing these claims and I never see any evidence that I find remotely credible. All I have is evidence of how easily other people project onto her. I saw her being completely apolitical; I didn't necessarily like that in 2018, but I somewhat understood it. She is a very calculating performer and commercial artist, she's not the first or the last - that doesn't make her the Antichrist, or the one woman everyone can vilify and excuse any behavior towards (like, I don't know, let's just say for example interrupting her speech and then fetishizing her naked body over and over for years afterwards as she grows from teen to adult). Anyway, I'm glad she spoke up.- Doctor Who
I love the new theme - very JNT 80s. With the throbbing synth. Isn't that the woman from Coronation Street in here?- Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread
