  1. Lukewarm(?) Take: Manchin is drawing Infrastructure Decade out as long as humanly possible because he knows that once he does, he faces renewed pressure re: the filibuster and voting rights which McConnell has already feared will buckle him and Sinema, specifically re: a bill Manchin put his own name on. Biden said last(?) week, on television, that he can't force anyone's hand on the filibuster until infrastructure is complete. When this bill fracas is over it becomes a game Manchin is not wholly prepared for.

    From some time ago:
  3. I don't trust him in the slightest, but he does have patterns. He's also shameless. Case in point:
  4. Some of it he's since indicated he's malleable on. He just loves puffing his chest out for West Virginia. There's going to be cuts, but I think folks who follow every one of his grand declamations only make themselves crazy at this point. Manchin is above all noxious performance art.
  5. It's lovely to see Isabella Gomez again. I have no relationship with the old show but I suppose I'll look at the new one once.
  6. I know people conflated her being asked with their allegedly having plans to re-introduced Alex and Ava's kids before cancellation, but I don't know if she ever was. I'm glad she's happy being done with the business, having been in it since infancy. I'd still insist on her (and Mantooth, and others) making a guest appearance for a LOV-themed Halloween special if the ABC soaps ever came back around in some form, lol.
  7. I was under the impression she wanted a break too, but she did take AW right after that.
  8. My understanding is that Sadie spent the first several weeks or months telling the sad story of her long-lost daughter Clara. Then Carla Benari showed up at Llanview Hospital as a seemingly unrelated character in story with Jim Craig and Price Trainor. I don't know when they pulled the rug out with the famous reunion scene reveal but it wouldn't shock me if it was the same year's November sweeps.
  9. I believe she was hired from the very beginning, but didn't appear onscreen until October. OLTL first aired in mid-July.
  10. I know Holly was not happy Milli was replaced. I do think the plan was probably always to ultimately put Jim with Anna, but who knows.
  11. Pluto is a godsend for MST3K, RiffTrax, Dark Shadows and classic Doctor Who, among others. They also do 90210 and Melrose IIRC. The super low-rent ads they run in the abrupt commercial breaks crack me up, but I can keep Pluto on all night when I get sleep or am feeling low. My idea of hell would be ABC, etc. licensing out soap reruns only from 2000-on which is probably what I can see happening, lol.
  12. There was never much there to Jordan to begin with; she was never popular. She was and remains a C-player with minimal story, even when Vinessa Antoine was in the role. People make more of Jordan now than she was because Antoine went on to better work. GH doesn't invest in Black characters, then or now.
  13. Frank may or may not like Liz but he understands her cachet with the audience. That's why he pairs her up with his favorite OLTL stars. Not because he hates her, but because he knows a lot of the audience loves Herbst and will follow her into any terrible storyline or pairing. He uses Liz/Becky to put Howarth and Easton over to the audience.
  14. The discussion on the main television subreddit about this is full of horror stories about Berlanti/CW productions (and many other high profile ones which will likely come as no surprise). I knew conditions were very bad on these and other shows, but I haven't worked crew since college so I didn't know it was quite that draconian.
  15. Woof! I don't get these shows or the creeps they employ.

This old rumor from 2016 is making the rounds again, in light of recent new rumors claiming an international female star has been approached to play the Doctor. This obviously didn't occur but I do think Swinton is a one of a kind talent who could've nailed a single series, like Eccleston. @DRW50
  17. Tripp, like most RC males, is there to be hot, take his shirt off and be completely snowed by vixens and villains. That is his only function.
  18. I'll have to take a few to be able to give a more substantive response on that, @DramatistDreamer. I do think the pandemic has shown a lot of the public the urgency of a need for some sort of universal basic assistance, even if we're likely years from even considering properly adopting it in this country. Meanwhile:
